We just got back from our Easter weekend trip at Twin Hollow Campground. This was our first trip to Hatfield McCoy and some of the groups first time ever riding trails. We were a group of 10 adults who rented 4 full hook up sites and a cabin. Everyone in our group enjoyed our stay and are already planning a return trip. Wayne was extremely nice and helpful at check-in, going over the trail map and pointing out gas and food locations. We also were able to buy our trail passes at check-in. The campsites were super spacious. We enjoyed that there were sites next to the cabins so we could all hangout easily as a group. The cabin was super clean and had everything that you needed. The shower rooms were also very clean. The driveway up to the campground is very long with some steep sections but we had no problems getting our trailers and campers up to the top. It was dry when we visited so I could see if it was wet out it might be a little tricky, but still doable. We were nervous about the drive up based on other reviews but we had no problems. We were there for an adventure and the views at the top were worth the drive. It was so convenient having direct trail access from the campground. And gas was close in the town of Gilbert.

I seriously cannot say enough nice things about this place. It is a family owned campground, the family lives on site, so you see them running around the place a lot, but they could not have been more friendly or helpful; from asking and making sure guests are all happy and everything is to their liking, to giving advice on trails and places to stop. The BBQ restaurant on site is a pretty awesome bonus, and they have atv rentals on site too. We stayed in the primitive tent area, which had amazing views, as do all of the other campsites and cabins. The bathrooms had showers in them and were very clean and well kept. The trail head was actually right there in the campground. And I could be wrong but from what I saw, this is the only true campground, every other "campground " I saw was really just someone's backyard in town, and while there are lots of places to camp or rent in town, you will have to ride a pretty significant distance on the roads to get to a trail head.

My wife and I cannot say enough about how wonderful our camping experience is. We have been visiting campgrounds all over the East Coast since the Summer of 2019. We seek out campgrounds that specifically have something special to offer and that, for us, is the view. In the case of Twin Hollow Campgrounds & Cabins the view #1 out of all those campgrounds. If you are considering renting a cabin, DO IT! They have the best views in my opinion. If you're like us and have an RV, here's some info on what we personally believe are the sites with the best views at the campground: 15 (The site we had), 14, 28, 34, 35, 33, and possibly 4 through 8. While all of the sites are nice and have a view of something (even if through the trees), these particular sites were are favorites.

With that said, we know most of you will not be camping here solely for the view (like we did). This area is known for the Hatfield & McCoy UTV/SXS/ATV/Dirt Bike trails that run all throughout the mountains of WV and Kentucky. Knowing this, we decided to rent a 2-seater SXS for my birthday. We booked our rental from Mountaintop Adventures through the campground with the help of owners Donna & Wayne. Wayne gave us a ride down to the rental spot where we hopped in our SXS (after some instruction) and headed off. You can directly access the Hatfield & McCoy Trail Network from the campground via a couple of trails and a quick drive on a local road. We visited some waterfalls, overlooks, and explored the woods for hours. It was really a spectacular day. If you bring your own off-road vehicle, most of the sites are set up large enough where you can park your tow vehicle, trailer, and off-road vehicle within the site. Definitely, some planning went into everything. But, I digress.

On-site is a BBQ joint called Trail 12 BBQ. The ladies were cooking up some excellent BBQ. I rarely eat meat other than seafood, but I had to order some BBQ. I ordered the Almost Heaven Burger which is a 1/2lb Smoked Burger Patty, Thick-Sliced Hickory-Smoked Bologna, Hickory-Smoked Pulled Pork, and Bacon. My goodness was that amazing! Easily Top 5 burgers I've ever enjoyed (I have had thousands of burgers before I stopped eating meat). My wife ordered a Trail 12 Dog and a Hatfield Dog. She said they were the best hot dogs she has ever had. This is absolutely a MUST visit, especially if you are staying at the campground and can walk there. Speaking of food, hop in your off-road vehicle, head down the trail into Gilbert, and you have access to a spectacular Mexican spot (Las Brasas), several other restaurants, some car/UTV washes, Speedway (they have diesel), among other necessities.

Lastly, we really wanted to let you know about the owners. Donna and Wayne are some of the nicest people we have ever met and absolutely the nicest campground owners we have met. Anything at all we needed was available to us and every interaction was always with a smile. These are truly some good people and we felt really great staying at a campground that has been family-owned with such nice folks for 20+ years. Please don't hesitate to book here as you will be pleasantly surprised with...

The campground was very nice, the trails were amazing!! However, Donna and Wayne was not very customer friendly. When we checked in, we got our packet all but our parking tag. We had to change the dates we had originally picked but they had charged us in full and Donna acted like she didn't like that we did change our dates. Wayne then proceeded to take us to our camp site and told us that we had to unload our buggy and then back the trailer in. We kind of knew that already. We had to go back to get our parking tag. We thought we would eat at the restaurant since we just drove 8 1/2 hours to get there. There was 3 women in the "restaurant". One had her back to us and was on the phone taking an order, 2 others were standing there looking at me. The had a sign up "ring the bell for service". Well I didn't ring the bell because 2 people were looking at me. After no one acknowledged us, I rung the bell and she finally took our order. The food was ok. The next evening we had to get ice for our coolers and we were talking to Wayne and a guy(obviously he knew Wayne) walked right up and was telling Wayne that he found the video. He could've waited until we were done talking but he didn't mind just rudely interrupting. The third morning we had to get more ice and firewood. We were standing outside the office and Wayne walked out, turned around and went back in. So instead of us ringing the bell, we waited on him to come back out. Instead of him saying "good morning, how can I help yall" he just said "do yall need something?" we were like really?? So needless to say, this was our first and last time staying at Twin Hollow. We were very disappointed that there was absolutely no hospitality.

Twin Hollow, First of all, do not call me mama, I am not your mama and do not appreciate being addressed that way. My name is Tracy. We didn't think there was any sense in ringing a bell when people were there looking at us. Come to find out, the guy who interrupted our conversation was your son in law. And frankly it doesn't matter. A grown adult should know better than to interrupt someone who is carrying on a conversation. And no, I do not expect yall to read minds but a simple good morning, how are you would have been nice. You don't have to worry about me being petty again because we will not...

We stay at twin hallow cabin this past weekend from wed to Sunday witch is today. This was are first time coming to McCoy Trail system in West Virginia. Everything was nice till Friday of are stay. The owner and work there when we got back from riding had sign on are cabin door saying there was no campfire aloud on the property but they do sell fire wood and also have a fire pit and grill on each cabin. We check in since Wednesday and when we check in they never said anything about not having a fire. Till Friday when we got back from riding all day. So still lit up the grill and the fire pit for the kids. So went ahead and still cookout. When the owner showed up an hour later. He said I need you turn your fire out I said whats the problem immediately he started yelling cut the fire off or else I will so I said why are you gonna do that when I paid to stay here? And enjoy this evening with my family. He said there is a band for the Gilbert county but he never show me evidence of there being a band for it the he he threatened to kick me out, not refunding my money call the police so on and so on. I decided not to turn the fire off and get on my phone and find out if there was a band for the fire in Gilbert County. The band is marched through April but it’s only from 7 AM to 5 PM so every evening you’re allowed to have a fire And he didn’t want to prove that to me but a few minutes later he left and then he came back. And all of a sudden, he said they have removed the band for a fire. You can have your fire and continue on with your evening. But there were several more people in the campground behind our cabins in the RVs section having campfires, and he never said anything to them. He went right by them, never stopped, never said a word, and kept on just us we kind of felt out place we will never be coming back to twin Hollow Cabins. We really think it’s a beautiful view, but it’s really not worth the trouble. I can’t believe they treat there customers like this it’s horrible. We had a really bad experience and a bad taste in our mouth the rest of our stay there it’s really not...
