The side-by-side rented from this company performed well enough for the trails and we were comfortable with it. Throughout the day the trails, scenic points, and stops were wonderful. The only stop that was rushed was the lunch time stop. We barely had enough time to eat before the group was on the move again. The other stops at the historic and scenic spots during the day were great, though, with ample time provided to explore on foot. Our guide told us that we would be concluding the tour at the moonshine distillery in Gilbert around 6 pm where we could stay and hang out if we wanted and we where we could part ways. We didn't arrive at the distillery until 8:30 pm. We had no idea that we would be driving on trails in the dark and we were not happy about this part of the tour at all. We were often left behind by the guides and/or others in the tour, but at some point someone always stopped to wait for us. By the time we got to the distillery (which closed at 8 pm), the person running it was intoxicated. Our plan was to have dinner at the Trail 12 BBQ after our tour ended. The website posted the closing time at 10 pm so we thought we had plenty of time even though were were getting there much later than expected. However, when we finally got back up to Twin Hollow where the BBWQ , it was 8:45 pm and they were closing at 9 pm! Fortunately, the ladies working there were kind enough to make us some sandwiches and desserts to take with us back to our inn. We turned in our machine, bought some souvenirs, and left. The tour throughout the day was fantastic. Our biggest complaint was the after-dark riding on trails. What was also a huge concern was the allowance of the consumption of alcohol while driving the machines. Almost everyone in our guided tour (not us!) was consuming alcohol...drivers AND passengers. This was very upsetting to us and we were shocked that this was allowed...especially since the trails and landscape being navigated was not easy terrain. The other issue I had was how often we were driving on regular roads and highways. This made me very uncomfortable. While it was legal to do in these parts, I didn't like driving on the main roadways due to the high speeds and being close to other vehicles. Our tour guide stressed many times to wait for each other at trail and road intersections and not let each other get behind or "lost". This advice was sometimes taken, but mostly was not followed during the night time riding. At this point, my husband and I were angry that safety was not a priority, especially at night time. I wish they would have given us the option to continue the tour after dark or to go back to Gilbert. We definitely would have gone back to Gilbert to the distillery and to have dinner. The machine we rented was fine, but it did not have a windshield. This was also fine, however, the helmets they rented us were not full face covered helmets. They also did not rent us goggles. We highly suggest making full helmets and goggles available to rent. My last suggestion is to book your groups according to experience. We were one of the only ones in our group that had no prior experience driving/riding these machines, so naturally we were slower and more cautious. It was evident that everyone else in our tour had prior experience as almost all had their own machines. It would have been nice to be booked with a group that was more similar to our experience level. The tour could have easily been broken up into 2 or 3 groups according to experience level. This would also have allowed us to not get "left behind" so much by the group and guides. Had safety been more of a priority, we would be giving a better rating for this company. The staff was friendly and kind,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe most unprofessional backyard run sketchy operation I have ever seen. Reserved a machine on the 7th, paid $562 to reserve it for 2 1/2 days. Get here after a 7 hour drive, then mysteriously after you pay for insurance they say "oh did anyone tell you about the $1000 deposit?" This is after I had asked for details twice on the phone this was never mentioned. So I say no the lady says after she takes my card to process I say wait I'm supposed to pay almost $3000 for 2and a half days, I say cancel it. Owner gets a smirk on his face and proceeds to tell me he does 2000 rentals a year without a problem. This is directly after his employee said this was the 2nd time today. So she says she wont push the rest of the payment through, we exchanged words and no sooner as I get in the truck she pushed the payment through and It alerted my phone. So they refuse my $562 refund because I didnt give a 30 day notice.....although I rented it 3 days ago. He says sorry thats policy as he smiled and walked away. This has been done many times it was like it was scripted. They have continuously been scamming people this way. Super sketchy, backyard shady rentals is more like it. Horrible unprofessional scamming shiesty operation who see money coming in as soon as you pull up so they start coming at you with insane prices, if you dont bite they keep your deposit. Believe me when I tell you I will get my money back. Moral of the story, I got $1162 taken from me and left with nothing. Take your money elsewhere there are 3 others close by. We stayed at the holiday inn express in logan wv and this place was 45 mins away in a place that looks like it was straight out of deliverance. Please go somewhere else I cant stand to see others getting robbed like this either. Most importantly stay safe these people have a messed up operation. Im calling BBB in the morning and see if they can launch an investigation. Stay away, for 2000 rentals a year and only 33 review that were all positive. If that doesn't scream sketchy how hard does the piano have to fall? Either way I have screenshots of thier website before and after today, I have the whole experience on video, and I have an amazing lawyer......I'm getting that money back. Just wonder how many times these shady sticky fingers deliverance v.2 people have run this hustle? Wonder how thier books look. Time will tell. Good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I signed up to do the Sunset Tour to see the "Wild" Horses. In the beginning of the tour before we left a gentlemen explained that our guide (I can't remember his name for the life of me) would be taking us to see the horses, a sport where a train robbery took place and a place where we can see Virginia and Kentucky. That gentlemen was very nice and professional. The tour started out fine until we got to the horses. I noticed one of the horses was limping and I said it out loud to my husband that was with me. Our guide over heard this and chimed in and said "that horses joint looks broken they are going to have to put him down, yep going have to put it down". This was a very inappropriate comment to make since there was children around. I know that is the reality of horses but this was something that should of just not been said. As we continued on with the tour after the horses, I believe we came to overlook to see Virginia and Kentucky but he never stated this was the spot. We did bring a bag of horse feed and he told us where the pregnant horse was and to give it to her, so maybe he told the group that stayed behind with him that this was the spot when we was doing that (not too big of a deal). It is now dark and riding in the trails (which is fine), all of sudden the two machines ahead of us stopped. We stop as well and we see the guide literally get out of his machine and urinate right in front of everyone. Soon as he's done, gets up and goes... Towards the end of the tour we get back on the road and the tour guide stops at the gas station, as do we. He gets gas and then just leaves everyone at the gas station. Now my husband and I are not from around their so we wasn't for sure where we was going so we had to book it out of the gas station to follow him back to Twin Hollows. I enjoyed seeing the horses and the view spot, guide never took us to the famous train robbery site (or he did but never said we was there or any history about it). I would not recommend this tour to anyone specially if that gentlemen is the guide (I don't remember his name, really wish I could). The date of our tour was on...
