Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself deserves a solid 3 stars middle of the road, with the soothing sounds of cars rushing by on the freeway all night, paper thin walls that enhance even the slightest reverberation, and cigarette holes burnt into the sheets, but the service received from this hotel was the complete antithesis of customer service oriented. After booking a 2 bed for 2 nights a week in advance, with a GUARANTEE payment option used to book, my buddy and I showed up at 2 a.m. after driving we we got off of work from Arizona only to be told that they had cancelled our GUARANTEED reservation because we hadn't checked in before 6 p.m. Okay, sure, no problem. So just book me for the second night. Oh, what's that? You've already booked the room so now I have nowhere to stay? Well isn't that welcoming me with open arms at 2 a.m.
So trying to keep my cool, I asked Vivienne, the front desk attendant at the time, when the manager would be in. Vivienne told me 10:30 and I asked her to pass on to her manager that I would be in at 11 and hoped there would be a resolution for me at that time.
Come 7:30 in the morning, after not being able to fall gently into a bed and rest my weary head from travel, the blaring and alarming sound of the phone ringing shocks me awake after a solid 4 hours of sleep(Have you ever tried to fall asleep stressed and angry? It took me a while to be able to calm down.) to let me know that, oh, well, they have a room for me for that night as well. I asked if I could just come down and pay for it when I woke up, and the lady at the front assured me it would be okay to do so.
Now, I don't know about you, but at this point my faith in Motel 6 is completely shaken to the point where I don't believe she'll hold the room for me. I don't have the smallest of slivers of faith to give to this woman that, should I close my eyes to try and get rest for a big festival that day, I'll have a room waiting for me when I wake up.
If she had the room on hold for me, it would have still been there when I came in at 11. There was no reason aside from either a complete indifference to the guest experience or spite for stating I hoped there would be a resolution when I came back that I should have gotten a call that early. I wish I could remember her name, but I was half-asleep and incredulous at the total lack of customer satisfaction. I do not, nor will I ever, endorse...
Read moreThe entire Motel 6 - Harbor City staff, including the front desk, maintenance and housekeeping, were attentive, professional, efficient and prompt. I had to stay longer than anticipated and during that time the only turn over I witnessed was the new addition of the General Manager, Rosa, with whom from a customer perspective, was very driven and professional but also personable and kind; traits that sadly lack most front of the house staff in many of the Motel 6 locations I’ve stayed over the years. The “housecleaning” Rosa had implemented wasn’t about replacing staff and more about about the esthetics. Like new trash cans and stand alone ashtrays for guests. Those charges tho small to the average person certainly helped brighten the facad of that location because the hotel from the outside could definitely use a facelift. My room was clean upon check-in, fresh towels & linens always readily avail, ice machine never out of service (often an issue w other Motel 6 locations), pet area in the back was clean and stocked w bags, never more than 3-4 rings when calling the front desk; both from my cell and from my room and if the lobby had a line of guests, the person working made sure to acknowledge your presence; even if not able to help immediately. I am not a guest that needs to be pampered but I do expect to be treated w respect. Not once did I feel that I wasn’t and would recommend this location due to that fact alone. It was nice to see that upon my departure the original staff still remained in tact. Shout out to Rosa, Athena, Lei, Thomas, Kathy, Teresa, Lisa and Tony (the entire staff no doubt and sry I didn’t catch everyones name) for being an amazing and hard working crew that made my unexpected and frustrating longer stay one that was pleasant...
Read moreOur room was beyond dirty! The sheets on the bed had stains and hair on them upon check-in. When I went immediately back downstairs to the front desk to let them know, the front desk associate just handed me sheets to put on the bed myself. I asked if someone was going to come in and clean the dead bugs and boogers off the walls and she told me that they would. I also told her that the sink was clogged up. She said someone would be on it and the issues should be resolved upon my return. I took my family to get something to eat and when we walked into the room there was no difference. Everything was still dirty. My 2 year old son sat on the bed to play with his toy car and that's when I noticed several fleas on the bed he was sitting on. So I checked the other bed while my mother was changing my 6 month old son, and there were several more fleas on that bed. I'm highly allergic to fleas and I didn't want my children to get bitten by fleas. We collected our things and checked out. The front desk clerk had a perplexed look on her face about us checking out but wasn't surprised when I told her the reason. She told us that they've been getting a lot of complaints about fleas lately and that we should be ok with just staying. I handed her the room key and just walked away because why would anyone want to stay in a flea infested hotel is beyond my level of understanding. I chose Motel 6 because I've never had an issue with a stay and the rooms that I've stayed in in San Diego were very clean, remodeled, and nice. I thought I was going to get the same experience in Los Angeles, but to my surprise it was a huge let down. I would not recommend this location to anyone! If it were possible to give a negative star rating this would be a negative 5 star and it should...
