This unit is managed by Resort Vacation Accommodations (RVA). It would be a great unit if it was properly maintained.||||Pros: ||1) beautiful unit with a porch on the canal; we saw manatees in the canal, it was very nice||2) property is nice and you feel on vacation||3) unit is spacious with a bedroom and a big living room with kitchen||4) Wifi provided||5) walking distance from pool and beach||6) lounge chairs provided at the beach; we saw dolphins in the ocean||7) BBQs provided||8) quick response on reporting maintenance issues (one you spend 15 minutes on the phone)||||Cons:||1) The dishes provided as part of the kitchen were dirty; they were put away in the cabinet, yet, when we took them out, most had old dirty food in them; it was very unpleasant and we had to clean all the dishes from other's people food. ||2) Landline phone in bedroom was not working (no dial tone)||3) Landline phone in living room had so much static it could not be used; we could not hear anything||4) The unit is advertised as sleeping 3 adults as the sofa is a pull out queen bed; this was the most horrific pull out sofas I've experienced in my life; I could only lay on it for 5 minutes as it was so painful and pushing into my back in the wrong areas. I ended up closing the bed and sleeping on the sofa itself four nights in a row. ||5) Lamp in bedroom was constantly flickering on/off||6) Garbage Can lid was broken so it kept falling off and could not prevent bad smell from spreading||7) when we arrived, the front patio had not been cleaned; the table was very dirty; there was spilled drinks on the floor; large ants EVERYWHERE. we would sit for dinner outside and had ants all over us. I'm from Florida and with appropriate pest control, this can be prevented||8) Two beach umbrellas were provided for the beach; once we got to the beach and opened the umbrellas in the hot sun, we realized one was broken and did not work; ||9) when we arrived, the french doors leading to the canal would not open; they were stuck||10) Maintenance Phone Number provided is a nationwide 800 number; this means that when you call the agent doesn't even know what property you're located in; we called twice, each call took about 15 minutes to report the issue, property name, address, state, etc...||11) Used cigarettes from previous smokers were left in the grass in the back porch from previous renters; housekeeping didn't clean anything||12) some old, totally rusty, clothe holder was left outside on the back porch; I'm not even sure why it was even there; it served no purpose other than to degrade the unit even further.||||We called maintenance about two issues, the french doors not opening and the dirty front porch/ants on porch; because each call took 15 minutes, we gave up reporting the other maintenance issues; however, once we reported the issues, someone from maintenance was there within 10 minutes. The door issue was fixed; the front porch was cleaned but nothing was done about the ants.||||In the end, we have to invest $6 in the ant spray and $20 on a beach umbrella at the local market. And as an FYI, the ant spray worked like a charm. ||||While the location was great and the unit could be an amazing unit, the poor maintenance and poor housekeeping are...
Read moreThe "Bare Minimum" Cabana Beach Club – Disappointing Stay, Disorganized Check-In, and Subpar Accommodations.
Our stay at Cabana Beach Club was, unfortunately, a letdown from the start. After a long day of travel, we arrived after hours and followed the instructions provided via email—only to find no key packet at the designated location. The after-hours line offered no real help, as the agent couldn’t locate my reservation and admitted she was just an answering service. We were left standing in the dark with no direction until, nearly an hour later, someone called and vaguely directed me to an entirely different property next door. Nowhere in my communication was this location mentioned. Inside the condo, things didn’t improve. What was described as a kitchen turned out to be a mini kitchenette with no stove—a major disappointment considering I had pre-ordered nearly $200 in groceries expecting to cook. Basic necessities were lacking: a cutting board, but no kitchen knife, just a few mismatched dishes and utensils, and no extras like additional trash bags. I had to make a separate trip just to buy items typically standard in rentals. The space itself is extremely small, the bed uncomfortable and lumpy, and the only AC unit is in the bedroom, which doesn't cool the entire condo properly. A thin, flimsy door separates the unit from the one next door—we could hear every conversation and every bathroom flush. Needless to say, none of us slept well. While the pool and beach proximity were nice, the beach itself was rough and full of shells, and the water was too choppy for young kids to enjoy independently. We also were not provided the laundry room code and had to rely on other guests to access it. Lastly, the fact that only one trash bag was provided for a multi-day stay is just symbolic of the entire experience: the absolute bare minimum. This rental was nowhere near worth the price I paid, and we’re walking away from Longboat Key feeling disappointed and misled. Sanibel Arms West offered far better value, service, and comfort—so that’s where we’ll be heading in the fall. Cabana Beach Club, RVA rentals, and VRBO I sincerely hope you read this and make some serious changes. Guests...
