My husband and I enjoy patronizing waterfront restaurants in the Sarasota area whenever possible. Recently we made our monthly connection with a good friend for a Sunday lunch at Longboat Key Island Grill. Parking was a cinch, our reservation enabled us to be seated right away, and we chose to be seated outside by the dock for a spectacular view. Our server, Greg, was on top of his game. He had a calm and friendly demeanor and was patient while waiting to take our order as we did some catching up at our table before viewing the menu. We each started off with the lobster bisque. It was a perfect consistency and a perfect temperature for eating when served. I recall remarking that there was lobster in every bite of this perfectly prepared seafood delight. My husband and I ordered fish and chips. When taking our order Greg asked something of this French fry lover. “Would you like your French fries crispy or regular?” I found this question a refreshing attention to detail and responded as any French fry aficianado worth his or her salt would, “Crispy!” When delivered they were a perfect crispy golden brown. The fish was a fresh, flakey haddock breaded and fried perfectly. The breading was just the right consistency and as crispy as it should have been. It was an ample serving of three pieces two of which I brought home. Two days later (today) I heated the two pieces up in the air fryer for lunch. They came out perfectly. Our friend enjoyed a crabcake sandwich. He said it was delicious! Though I was thoroughly enjoying my fish and chips, I was a bit envious as a crabcake lover! Next time (and there surely will be a next time!) I’ll try...
Read moreI want to comment on the review by “KAT” posted earlier today. We just happened to be dining at Lo’ Key Grill at that time and witnessed the whole interaction. Kat’s portrayal of what transpired is entirely false and Courtney‘s explanation is accurate from what we observed. A member Kat’s party threw a cigarette on the ground and Courtney pointed out that that was not appropriate and this person apparently had an issue with that. Courtney went out and professionally corresponded with the table. The younger couple threw an F Bomb at Courtney and walked away, I heard /watched it happen; they then stormed away. The gentleman that she references as the father-in-law walked up to Courtney and apologize for the behavior and said “Life is too short for people to act like that” . Everything up to this point was a factual reporting of what I witnessed. The following is my read, I felt like the gentleman was embarrassed about his daughter-in-law’s behavior . Trying to play the ““handicap” card just to inflict pain because someone didn’t like a situation is inappropriate and says more about her than...
Read moreStumbled on this place on our first night visiting over here in LBK. Very quaint place off the beaten path. Make sure you look up where it is or you might miss it. Great outdoor and indoor dining. Very clean atmosphere. Staff very welcoming. Jackie was our server and she was outstanding! My wife had the salmon and said it was delicious. I had the shaved steak sandwich and it was also amazing. They do great on their sides especially their hush puppies and coleslaw. Our friends had the fish basket and the crab shrimp burger. Everything was prepared perfectly! Highly recommend this place! 9/05/25 pretty much our last night in LBK. The couple we were with decided that we wanted to do the Lo'key Grille one more time. It didn't disappoint. Again, we were greeted warmly and welcomed to the restaurant. Our server, Domenica was wonderful. They actually did go back to the kitchen crew to compliment them from our table about how good they did on the meal. I highly recommend the maple glazed pork chop! OMG. See you all again next year. You've got a winner. And a great crew, like we told you all before we...
