On August 13th, myself and friends picked up food to go from this Solorzano's location on Longboat Key. I am a Sarasota native and am familiar with their locations within Sarasota and never have had an issue with their food quality. Upon calling, I proceeded to place an order for Baked Ziti, Greek Salad, Garlic Knots, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Upon speaking on the phone, they informed me they were outside of garlic knots, in which case, I alternatively got garlic bread. Upon asking about their vegan cheese option, as one of my group is allergic to dairy, they proceeded to also tell me they were out of that. On top of that, they also informed me that they had no feta cheese for their Greek Salad.
I am an extremely easy-going individual, so I just allowed the substitutions and proceeded to pick up my order at the designated time. However, prior to picking up our order, they called and informed me they were also out of ziti noodles, and could only make it with spaghetti. Once again, I just said "ok" because sometimes restaurants have off days, and I can be empathetic about that.
Upon receiving our food, honestly, the experience was extremely disappointing. The garlic bread was soggy, the Greek salad was not only extremely small, but the lettuce was obviously past it's appropriate serve date- the leaves brown and soggy as well. No dressing was packed for the salad. The spaghetti and meatballs was underwhelming, under seasoned, and the pasta was overcooked. The baked ziti, turned baked spaghetti, was overcooked and had about a quarter of a cup of sauce over three cups of pasta, and what looked like three slices of mozzarella melted on top for decoration.
The meal was honestly one of the most disappointing take out experiences I have had in years. The food quality was extremely low and I could have received a better meal from a 7-11, respectfully. $65 for two bowls of under seasoned, underdressed, and overcooked pasta, soggy garlic bread, and an wilted, brown salad with no dressing is just...
Read moreIt was a lousy experience. The pizza was ok, the mozzarella sticks and garlic knots cold. The service was rude, lousy and will keep me from returning. I came in to order and carry out expecting some delay as it was Easter Sunday. When I went to the counter to order, the cashier/receptionist told me to wait...after standing there 5 minutes she told me to sit down and she would call me back up when she was done with what she was doing, whatever that was. 5 minutes later she calls me up and I order. She says it will be about 30 minutes...at the 35 minute mark, I went up and asked her how long it would be...she turned to look at the orders above the pr were p table and said "He's working on it" I looked over at the prep table and she was right, the cook was just starting to make my pizzas past the time they were to be ready! So I asked this less than congenial cashier how long it would be and she said "Awhile". Repeated efforts to get a time frame were met with the same answer! So I waited...30 minutes...and returned to Miss Congeniality asking if my pizzas were ready, to which she responded they would be ready "in a bit"...efforts to get a more precise time frame received the same response Finally, 45 minutes after she told me the cook was "working on it", a full 90 minutes after arriving in this joint, my order was ready. And this, after watching many people come in after me, order after me, wait and leave with their pizza before me! Beware, the lousy service and attitude of the workers here more than offsets the quality of the average pizza. Try...
Read moreVery interesting. The food is excellent. If you have the girl behind the counter, she is very kind and professional. Unfortunately most of the time she is not there. If you are a male, the man behind the counter will immediately turn his back on you as he greets you. And mutter under his breath almost to the point you cannot understand him like he is dissapointed that the customer is a male. Interestingly, if a female walks in, the man becomes very excited and faces her, and says how can I help you honey! Clearly a training problem or knowing he is not being watched (it's not just 1 guy operating like this, it is 2 or more) is an issue. Great food. 0 napkins provided, not cool. And the gender discrimination from the males behind the counter, is super unprofessional. It takes a 5 star experience down to 2 stars. Seems like these males behind the counter are unhappy working there and do not like male customers. Are they not paid to assist males and females equally in service? Perhaps this is because I am a white male? These are a great deal of their customers (bread and butter, profit). Sad I had to make this review, but imagine if I didn't. No one would know. My guess is the owner would not approve and is unaware. If these men behind the counter are unhappy and dislike males, especially white males, perhaps other workers would happily take their job and treat all people respectfully? Perhaps they don't know people leave reviews regarding experiences? Well guess...
