PLEASE READ MY REVIEW. Rivers Edge Motel is a great place to stay. I read about this motel in an online Missouri travel publication. Since it’s right on the Mississippi River and in the small town of Louisiana, Missouri I decided to come check it out. Rena, the owner is very nice. She checked me in flawlessly and gave me the best room in the whole facility. Check-in begins at 3 PM. Check out is at 11 AM. One of the things I enjoyed the most is that Rena uses some of the old-fashioned check-in processes that we just don’t see anymore in the hotel business. She writes your information down on a small double NCR paper tablet and gives you that receipt. It has her phone number on it so you can contact her at anytime if you have any needs. When I come back, I’m just gonna call her directly to make my reservation. She is great to work with. So any reviews that reported that the owner was anything less than professional, polite, and courteous should be considered carefully. And I say that because sometimes people who work in the hospitality business are having a bad day. I see Rena as someone who works very hard to provide very good customer service. Things to keep in mind: The rooms are older, but well kept, clean and comfortable. When this hotel was built, they used baseboard heaters and other older forms of construction. This hotel represents some of that along with some upgrades. The room I had had one hole in the carpet, but not enough that I would mark this facility down is anything less than five stars due to the fact of what they’re working with without doing a total and complete remodel of the entire facility. I read some reviews that said this motel was really old and outdated. Well, it is old and it is outdated, but you’ve gotta keep that in mind when you come. The walls could use some painting, a little bright color and there’s a small hole in the wall that could stand to be repaired. However, it doesn’t take away from the hospitality and the comfort of the room. It’s quaint and it’s really charming. So please don’t misunderstand my opportunity to point a few things out as being anything of negativity towards Rivers Edge Motel. I will come back here and stay. And bring my wife. She’s picky about the places we stay at. I know she would do just fine here. Do not use the thermostat on the wall to turn on the air conditioner. I posted a picture of the remote. Make sure to use that. I read some previous reviews where somebody said the air conditioning didn’t work very good. My experience air conditioning worked fantastic. One other thing to keep in mind is make sure to bring your AC power plugs for your cell phone charging cords. The rooms don’t have any USB plugs. It’s not a dealbreaker just remember to bring the AC plug. There’s a small coffee maker in the room along with a microwave and a small fridge. It’s definitely a place to come back to. There’s an eating establishment within walking distance or you can drive through town and pick a few other places. I ate at The Pierre which is connected to motel. It’s a converted former gas station turned into a restaurant and bar. There’s not a lot of inside seating so if you go with a large group, make sure to know that you might not find a place to sit down. The Pierre has limited menu choices, but the food is good and the service was great. The pictures posted on this review are from room 143. In my opinion it’s the best room in the motel. If you need a king size bed this room won’t work for you, but the queen size bed worked fine for me. I would use the queen size bed again just to get the beautiful room. If you’re looking for an overnight excursion to check out some of the more beautiful looking areas of the Missouri river, experience some small town, life, and stay somewhere that has really beautiful views, then come to the Rivers Edge Motel.

I cannot say enough positive things about the River's Edge Motel. My daughter, baby granddaughter & I spent two days and nights in adjoining rooms #42 & #43, and we had a wonderful stay while there. The rooms were immaculately clean, and had a very nice size flat screen tv, a small sofa, a desk & chair, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee pot, a hair dryer, and plenty of room for us even with all of the baby paraphernalia that we had with us. The view of the bridge from our balcony was so beautiful and we spent several hours in the evening sitting on the balcony, relaxing, and enjoying the view. The owners were both so kind and nice to us and were very responsive to anything that we might need. They came in on our second day there and cleaned the rooms spotlessly even though we did not expect that. The room rates were very reasonable. We have several family members who are buried in Riverview Cemetery, and Jordan Buffalo Cemetery, and we like to visit at least once a year to pay our respects and put flowers on the graves. This is our first year to spend a couple of days/nights while visiting and we are so glad that we did so. The River's Edge Motel could not have been a nicer place to call home while we were there.

I hate to give this motel a one star rating but my husband stayed there for almost 2 weeks and you can see by the photos that he was chewed up by bedbugs! He went to the first desk and they told him that those were mosquito bites!!! Seriously we are from Louisiana and we know that is not those mosquito bites! They did clean the room daily and the staff was nice but he said he’d never stay there again.

Backstory: My boyfriend, my dog, and I hydroplaned and damaged our car to the point it was not drivable. We are on a cross country road trip not able to get home or continue our trip this day. It was difficult to find a pet friendly place and we ended up here. Rooms: At any motel the rooms are going to be dated. That’s just how it is. This is by far the cleanest motel I have been to. For those who are usually uncomfortable in the motel scene which I am one of these people - I was not uncomfortable at all and found my stay very pleasant. Service: The owners are the absolute sweetest I’ve met. Better service and hospitality from them than any hotel I’ve ever been to. They were extremely accommodating with letting us check in early due to our situation and gave us coupons for the bar next door. Location: The location is next to two gas stations both with chicken places and opened 24 hours. Bar across the street and surprisingly not noisy! Noise wise there is a train however my boyfriend and I actually find the sound peaceful. It is right next to the MS river and there is a nice view. Really nice view. Overall, I have to say I am very pleased. I would stay here again. The hospitality really speaks for this place and I cannot express how happy the owners made me. They were both a breath of fresh air in a very...
