We’re in our 9th season at Cape Island Resort—and it’s truly become our home away from home. We started here as a newly married couple with an RV and now have two young kids, a Yorkie, and a park model we absolutely love. After comparing all the local parks, we chose CIR because it’s quieter, cleaner, and doesn’t allow transients or golf carts—just a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere that’s hard to beat.
The management team is fantastic and has made some great improvements over the years—remodeled bath houses with free showers, new pickleball and basketball courts, two pools, a snack bar, and a full calendar of summer events thanks to their activities director. Our favorite? The CIR Winery & Brewery Bus Tour—always a blast! There’s also a general office with a mailroom, lending library, and free computer/printer access for residents.
Cape Island Resort is in the perfect location—just 10 minutes from historic Cape May, 15 minutes from the Wildwood boardwalk, and only 7 minutes from all the shopping and conveniences in Rio Grande. Whether you’re headed to the beach, out to dinner, or running errands, everything is just a quick drive (or bike ride) away.
The bike path right across the street is a huge perk—it connects you to everything. Historic Cold Spring Village is directly across the street, with family-friendly events every weekend. If you enjoy adult beverages, there are three breweries, three wineries, and a distillery all within biking distance.
We’ve even convinced our parents to join the fun—they loved it so much, they bought a place here too. Cape Island Resort has become a generational tradition for our family, and we couldn’t imagine spending our summers...

There is also a new adult only lounge if you are over 21 and would like to have a glass of wine with friends. The resort is pet friendly.
The resort is very close to the beachs, the happening area in Cape May with all its restaurants and shopping areas. You can visit the Cape May Lighthouse or Sunset Beach for a flag ceremony, get a beer or glass of wine at one of the areas many wineries or breweries. Or if you prefer you can go antique shopping at one of the many antique stores. There is a new complex open where you can catch the latest movies, go bowling, play arcade games and get something to eat or drink. There is so much to do. Being in Cape Island Resort means you are close to everything that is happening. It's a great...
Read moreThis is our first year at Cape Island and my husband and I love to be here. We are in our 60's but are very active. The place may have been around a bit but it has everything one needs. Location is great. I am personally glad that golf carts are not allowed and that quiet time starts at 11:00pm. I have had my little grandson and very young nieces come and stay and there has always been plenty to do do keep them happy. The 5 mph through the park is important because there are so many young children. The rules here are all common sense and we appreciate them. ||The only thing I would like to see is a longer season and also to be treated more respectfully with by particular staff personnel ( I don't know why it is that some of the staff don't understand the value of customer service.) although there are some very sweet people who work here who actually smile and are pleasant.( is that really too much to ask?) There are some very helpful people like Jimmy who is willing to help with just about anything. The guards are great and it's reassuring to know they are there although I feel very safe here. All in all, I do love Cape Island Resort and would recommend it highly to anyone who loves the Cape May area. It is by...
