Just the mental health break we needed. Twice a year we take a mental health break vacation and when I found out Klarhet’s mission of regenerative farming included goats (which I adore!), I couldn’t think of a better place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle from everyday life for awhile.
Nicole and Kirk were phenomenal hosts before we even arrived. I had messaged Nicole several times to find out if and when they’d have baby goats so we could time the trip accordingly and she assured me I could snuggle goats as much as I wanted - much to my delight!
Klarhet is conveniently located right in the way to Lutsen mountains and has excellent signage - you cannot miss it! Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Diane who told us about the layout of the farm, domes and farm store, offered us a complimentary half dozen eggs from the farm’s chickens and she brought us some wonderful ashwagandha tea as we settled into our dome.
The dome was incredibly spacious and had all the luxury amenities you could want from Turkish bath towels to shower steamers to a great kitchenette. The wood pellet stove was easy to use and the view from the “bay” window was incredible - we could even see Lake Superior!
Our stay was more than we could have ever hoped for as we were treated to the most spectacular northern lights display that’s been seen in over 20 years! Obviously that wasn’t personally arranged by the Klarhet team, but the chance to see northern lights from a a place like Klarhet with no light pollution is a much higher probability than most places. Despite being out until 4 am chasing lights, the 2 hours of sleep we had felt like 8! The bed was extremely comfortable and it was so dark and quiet, we must have hit REM almost instantaneously.
To top it all off, we got to snuggle and bottle feed baby goats to our hearts content! The farm tour was fantastic and it was great to hear about their passion for their space.
We cannot recommend Klarhet enough. It’s quiet and tranquil, but close to lovely little towns where you can dine out on fresh fish, get whatever supplies you need or even enjoy a beer at Voyageur brewery or some fresh roasted coffee at fika. We will...
Read moreThis place was a dream. Magical. I didn't want to leave. First impressions take your breath away as you walk beneath the welcoming arbor and open the door to your dome. The calming colors of each space within is grounding, while the surrounding wild flowers are gorgeous and uplifting.
We stayed in Berkanan, known for renewing the spirit and it did just that. Calm swept through us and we couldn't wait to return for our second night of relaxation after hiking all day. It's fun to be welcomed back by families of chickens, too!
The bed is unbelievably comfortable and makes you melt away. And oh, the beautiful vistas while laying there! A shooting star swept across our view the first night as the stars truly twinkled.
The rain head shower makes you never want to get out, although the provided house slippers are fantastic to slip on. The heated floor creates a homey feel that immediately invites you in and begs you never to leave.
It rained most of our second night and the sound of rain on the dome was nostalgic. It brought a peaceful, cozy sleep.
We brought food for homemade meals each night and the kitchen was perfect for it.
We are already planning our next stay beneath the stars all snuggled up in the domes of Klarhet. We cannot wait!
PS. We are ordering the bed sheets and hand towels for our own home because they are just...
Read moreIt’s been 4 days since we left and settled back into our regular life, but not one day has gone by without reminiscing about our stay here. At first this was going to be our “girls vacation,” but upon arriving and spending time on the land with the animals, the flowers, and nature, I soon realized staying here was much more than that. It is not just a vacation, it’s an experience! That experience is very much what you make it, whether it be snuggled up in the most comfortable bed with a good book and a cup of the FINEST coffee ever while looking out the panoramic window, or walking around the property alone or with Nicole as she shares their vision for this paradise tucked in the woods, or sitting by the campfire laughing with the other people staying there, it’s really up to you! You can do as little, or as much as you like! The owners, Kirk and Nicole, were so down to earth, kind and helpful too. They always stopped & visited on the path, and were eager to share places to go for the day. We wanted to see a moose, so Kirk told us where we’d see one, and he was right! Overall, you just leave Klarhet feeling better than when you arrived. For selfish reasons, I don’t want to share this place with anyone, but for selfless reasons, I want everyone to know about this magical little place in the woods. We loved it, and will...
