We rented a room from this place back in 2019 so we decided to rent it again. We didn’t know it had a new owner. When we arrived late in the evening we were welcomed by a squirrel in the room. Not a huge deal, it happens. We let the front desk know and they sent someone to try to catch it. When we were bringing bags in and getting settled, we realized there were squirrel feces all over the room. We contacted the office again and asked them to send housekeeping to get it cleaned. They first told us that there was no one to clean and they wanted to send us to a room that was not comparable to the rooms we rented. We told them we chose this room because of the size and the kitchen/living space. When we stated that we would expect them to comp us, they were able to find someone right away to clean. The lady that came to clean swept the floor, changed the sheet on one of the beds, then sprayed the kitchen/living area floor with a cleaner and used towels to wipe it up. She never actually mopped the floor. The owner also came over and was condescending and kept stating this was “Northern Michigan” as if we have no idea that animals can get into the house. We live in Michigan, in the country. Since it was late we were satisfied for the night and went to bed. The next morning, we called the office and asked for them to send housekeeping to do a thorough cleaning since she didn’t the night before. We had told them that the floors were dirty and left our socks black and that we also had found feces in the drawers. We had a pregnant woman and a toddler with us. We wanted to make sure everything was clean properly since rodents carry diseases. When housekeeping finally came, the guy barely swept the floor and took out trash. The floors were never mopped. They refused to do any more cleaning, so we asked for more towels and the bottle of cleaner. We had to clean the place, so it was livable and safe for our family. Over the weekend we started to see how dirty the place was. The refrigerator had mold in it, the dish strainer had a moldy paper towel under it along with a bunch of dead bugs. One of the bathrooms had a dead worm in it and hair in the sink. The floors were sandy and had sticky spots where stuff was spilled and never mopped up and a stiff dirty towel was left on a chair. The pool was green and of course the feces in drawers. We talked to management and expressed our concern about all of the filth and unsanitary conditions left in the rooms, and she didn’t care. This company is ok with leaving the rooms filthy and will not clean it for you or give you any kind of refund. If they are ok with people living with rodent feces, who knows what other disgusting, unsanitary filth they are ok with letting their customers live in. And if you think you will just stop payment on your credit card, nope, they charge your card in the morning before you even arrive. I would think twice about booking with this company. Sunrise Beach and Bridge View Beach are owned by the same guy. I would think twice about booking this room. If you decide to try it out, bring your own cleaning supplies. You will have...
Read moreSCAM. First off, Bridge View Motel does their booking and reservations through a third-party off-shore booking company. The number to call listed with this business is NOT the hotel, it's the booking company. I booked a room with this place late Friday night and we made the associate aware that we wouldn't be getting in until after midnight, and he reassured us that there would be someone physically located on the property to check us in and give us our room key, and that we could check in at anytime during the night. He gave us one check in instruction, and it was to call a number that he provided to us upon arrival (I'm assuming this number he gave us is at the hotel, I don't know because still nobody has contacted me.) Upon arrival after midnight and a long drive, we did as instructed and called the number. And called. And called. And called. We called the check in number at least a dozen times and the phone was never answered. It's now 1AM and we don't have a place to sleep, so I call the booking company back and told them the situation, and they started processing the refund. After a dozen more phone calls to hotels in the area, we finally found a spot at Best Western that was able to get us in our room at 3AM!!! We were very excited to finally be in a bed. The next day, the booking company emails me and tells me that they reached out to the hotel about the refund request and that the hotel DENIED the refund! I paid $150 for this room and never even saw an employee at the property, let alone get in to the actual room that we booked itself! Upon hearing this, I tried calling the check in number at the motel to get this sorted out, and sure enough, nobody answered the phone. I am now in the process of charging back the transaction through my bank since nobody will pick up my phone call. The disconnect between this motel and the 3rd party booking company will create problems for you if you don't absolutely confirm everything. I have been as patient and calm as I could've been with how they have treated this situation, which is why I'm now leaving this review in hopes that somebody will actually give me my money back since they took it from me with nothing to show for it. This situation created a chaotic and disastrous start to our Michigan vacation. Thank you to Best Western and Super 8 hotel for getting us a room at the very last minute so that we didn't have to...
Read moreWhile the view is marvelous that is literally all this motel has to offer. I've stayed at much nicer motels and paid far less. For $98 a night we weren't expecting luxury however I did expect a lot more from a place in one of Michigan's most sought after vacation destinations. We arrived to find we'd have to go to the hotel next door to check in. To then be told if we wanted to partake in the free breakfast we'd have to go to yet another hotel down the road. We paid extra for a water front room which we were excited for. The stairwell to the upper rooms was filthy. There were bugs (spiders) every where literally more than I could count. Our room while appearing to be relatively clean stunk horribly of moldy mildew. Not to mention everything was extremely outdated bed linens included and not in a cutesy old beach cottage kind of way. The AC unit didn't work and was literally falling apart. The beach front balcony we were so excited for was also dirty, the chairs were sticky and covered in bird poop. Also the "free wifi" was no where to be found which was fine, we like to make the best of things. So we spent the majority of our night on the beach by the fire where we had the most amazing ring side seats to watch another couple basically brawl in the parking lot. It went on for a solid hour. In and out of their room, slamming doors, screaming, swearing and threatening to call the cops. We watched "management" drive around on a golf cart but never stopped to ask the couple to be quiet so the fighting continued well into the night. To cap off our less than wonderful stay at the Bridge View Motel I pulled the sheets back to find a huge spider IN THE BED..... I get that its hard to compete with places like Holiday Inn and Best Western but I don't think they are even trying. It is obvious they don't get a lot of business and so the rooms go a long time between cleanings BUT they knew we were coming they should have ran up to make sure everything was at least bug free.....
