What happened to us last night at this campground was a disaster.

We booked the site couple hours before arriving. I called there and asked if they had a camp site for two cars, camp trailer, and four people. The lady confirmed they did have a spot for us. So, I reserved and paid over the phone. At check in, we confirmed the number of people and cars, purchased firewood, ice, and parked our cars at the site. Then, we went to the city with one car. When we came back (around 11 pm), at the moment of parking the car, a man came out of the dark loudly yelling: โ€œYou canโ€™t park the second car here! You go and park outside! Right now! I am the owner! These are my rules!โ€. He did not introduce himself, was super rude and unprofessional. We tried to explain that parking both cars at the campground was essential for us because two people were supposed to sleep in the car he ordered to leave. He did not listen and kept yelling.

We said we all were going to leave then and requested a refund. To receive a refund, we followed him to the lobby where he continued to yell at us as we were nothing. All of that was happening in the middle of the night! After arguing at the lobby, he finally heard we had no idea only one car per site was allowed. He let us stay until the morning with two cars! In the morning, I have discovered that at least two other camp sites had two vehicles parked!!!!

I paid over the phone and was never told only one car was allowed. I was never told about that at check in either. I would not book this campground if I new the rules beforehand.

This experience has ruined my day. I could not sleep well due to the stress caused by that guy. I still donโ€™t know his name, but no one, even the โ€œownerโ€ of the business, should behave in this manner with other people. I wish nobody else gets the same treatment as we...

This campground is a great location! It's small and quaint, but is located right on Lake Michigan! The water was only a few feet from our campsite, and you can see the bridge right from our tent! The bathroom was really clean, and it had hot water! There were people who have camped there every summer for years, which tells me it's a good place!

I had a few issues though:

We were told each campsite had a water and electric hook up. That was in accurate because our sit had to share one with three other sites. That was an issue as our extension chord didn't reach to our campsite and we had to walk closely to the other campers tent. Also, the sites were quite small. Ours was on the end so we had a good amount of room, but the site next to us was tiny, and could only fit about one tent.

Our biggest issue was with scheduling the staff. My friend, who is really detailed oriented, called in January to reserve a spot for our group. She specified exactly how many cars/tents/people we had and we were given a price for the weekend and we paid it up front. She specifically asked if the number of people was okay for the site multiple times.

When we arrived however, we were told that our number we received was wrong, and that we needed to pay an extra 85$! We calmly reminded them of the price and conversation in January, and both staff members seemed disorganized, lack communication with each other (as they both seemed really confused) and then blamed us for it and was very rude to us. We almost left the campground, and would have if we didn't have a group meeting us there. They eventually only charged us 15$, but we were still very upset about their lack of organization, but also their customer service in handling the issue!

TL/DR: great...

Stayed August 10th-14th, 38 foot class A towing jeep. Check in was quick and easy with a very polite young man handling business. Our site was 91, level grass/gravel site with 50amp service and water. Our site was 36 feet wide and 60 feet deep, huge! Utilities require your extra cords and hoses. Fire rings set in the right spot on the site. The only issue I had, and come to find out a few others had the same problem, was getting hook up to the water without excessive water leak. I think this is due to the mandate in Michigan to have anti siphon devices on all the water spigot. No pool but you have Lake Hurion to make up for a measly pool!! Small play area by the beach. The beach front has swimming, swings, and the playground area all kind of combined but it works. Excellence transportation to and from the shuttle to the island. The store has a wide variety of products (ice and firewood-$7). We were lucky enough to be the Sunday night when "The Saxophone Guy" put on an impromptu show down at the waters edge... just a perfect setting. Now for the grand finally of the evening.... Mackinaw Bridge fireworks ๐ŸŽ† ๐Ÿ˜!!! This was fantastic to end a fantastic stay at Tee Pee Campground. Oh, I almost forgot, my wife left her phone on the lakefront swing. So shortly after we returned here comes the same polite young man that checked us in returning her phone. He figured out the number through the contacts and found us in his system. We would definitely come back and recommend to our friends. Thank you Tee Pee staff fir...

Staff is very polite and friendly. I'm a regular here. I come back every year for Labor Day weekend. Since 2008. My mom, younger brother, and my girlfriend, now my wife, and 3 step-kids. Have been coming here. Those 3 step-kids now have families of their own. So it's a tradition to come here every year. Started with 2 sites. Now have 5. It's a relaxing campground. No loud music. Respectable neighbors. A basketball hoop on a half court. ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ‘ž pit. There's a swing set by the water. But unfortunately in 2020, the beach erosion has washed the beach away. There's a game room. But not many arcades, like there used to be. There is a pool table. Bathrooms are kept clean. Very nice bathrooms with showers. Owner has let me park my waverunner on the beach. And family members and other campers can leave kayaks on the beach, w/o ppl messing with them. It's not a huge campground. But one I enjoy. They accept RV's, Class B campers, pop-up campers and tents. Visitors are welcome. But 1 vehicle permitted on each lot. It's not far from the city of Mackinaw. A couple miles. Directly across from Mackinaw Island.

My family of 4 stayed at Tee Pee Campground over the 4th, we were there for 7 days. Our site was decent sized and fairly level. My kids loved the beach. The bathrooms are a typical small campground bathroom, nothing wrong with them, they were nice and clean. The beach was clean, they had a nice firework show of their own after the one in Mackinaw City. Beautiful views of the bridge from their beach. You will need water shoes as the lake is rocky, which is typical for Lake Huron. There are no full hook ups but they offer the portable tanks for you to use to dump your camper without having to pull out and go to the dump station. The dumpstation was easy to get in and out. We liked the small campground feel, they have a one way road which made it better for all the kids running around. The ferries come and pick you up from the front office which is nice especially when driving up there with your truck to haul your camper. Tee Pee is also very close to town. We would definitely stay again!
