We stayed at Clifty Inn for 3 nights in a patio room. What a great place! Our room had 2 queen beds and we brought a cot since we have 5 people in our family - there was plenty of room for us and our stuff. The walkout to the patio and lawn overlooking the Ohio River was a real treat - there are some turkey vultures that roost on the west side of the building, and would circle very close to our window at times.|The room was very clean, and included 2 queen beds. Our only issues with the room was a rattling/crackling noise that would periodically come on from the room fan and wake us up at night - easily solved with earplugs or even just a blanket over the ear. The only other complaint I might have is that our bed only had a sheet and a very thin blanket. It wasn't until our last night I discovered an extra blanket in the dresser. This could have been easily solved by asking for another blanket at the front desk, but I kept forgetting. :)|The room also had a space with extra sink (in addition to the bathroom sink), ample counter space, K-cup coffeemaker, mini fridge, and microwave. Breakfast is not included with the room, so we brought our own continental items and it was easy to just have breakfast in our room (or on the patio!)|The hotel has lots of nooks and crannies that were just great. For example there were sofas, chairs and tables throughout the building - at the end of a hallway, in the common space, next to a window, etc - so there was much to explore besides just the room. It was nice to have room to spread out, a place to go, besides just our room, to play a board game or watch tv.|The common spaces were really comfortable and included playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, overstuffed couches, and the like.|The restaurant had a wide variety of menu items to choose from, as well as a salad bar. On Saturday they also offered a hot buffet.|The pool is a good size for a hotel pool, and not too cold so the kids loved it!||Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. Its views (minus the stacks from Clifty Creek Plant), proximity to the hiking trails, as well as proximity to Madison and Hanover, were...

They have specific hours for breakfast, lunch, dinner (great food/decent prices). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FRIED PICKLES!!! SO GOOD!! Everything is run with Covid-19 precautions in place. Currently, as I understand the protocol, means they aren't cleaning up rooms (making the beds, trash, basic supplies) daily. You have to set the items out of your room...? A plus is they use biodegradable products and recycle. I do love the proximity of the Inn to the trails, for families there are playgrounds, pool(open to guests at the Inn only), nature center, a small gift shop with a limited supply of personal hygiene items if you need something. And of course the trails!! They are beautiful but they are challenging. Some felt more like a non-ending vertical rock and wood stairs. As an overweight 48 yo woman with arthritis, I can say I made it, I enjoyed myself and I felt good about seeing the falls. Lol One thing, I think I was expecting the Clifty Inn to blend in with the beautiful scenery. Although nice and well kept, it reminds me of a dormitory. No matter, we came for the nature!! If you've run out of things to do inside the park or just need supplies, you're only about 5 minutes from Main Street in Madison. Literally 5 mins! There are antique and ice cream shops, plenty of restaurants to choose from and winery's. Once you are in town everything is within walking distance. We went there for ice cream one evening and brought it back to the hotel. We sat at the tables on the patio facing the Ohio River. It was a great ending. *btw rooms are specifically marked as handicapped accessible. As far as our room; the toilets are very low, there were no extra safety bars e.g. in the shower for extra assistance. So even if you don't need a ramp you might check if your room is appropriate for your needs. Have...
