This review is for the pontoon rental, not the lodge. My main takeaway is call or email to book your rental ahead of time so you are not let down. One of the people in our group got in touch through email to inquire for the date and time we wanted to rent a pontoon and Derek was very responsive. My husband called to officially book our pontoon and when we got there, we also got three life vests for the littles in our group. We paid around $260 for half a day.
We brought an inflatable kayak with us and inflated it in our pontoon. You can definitely bring food on the boat. Our family also brought a whole lunch spread.
The views around the lake is exceptional. It was a great experience and our family would most likely do this again in the future.
We had an issue with our boat when the engine wouldn’t start. This is our first time renting a pontoon and we did not want to keep forcing it to start so we called Derek right away and he came to help us. When Derek came, he immediately knew what was wrong, someone in our group accidentally raised the engine. Oops! Apparently, the up and down button on the shifter was for the engine. Derek also said he’ll take care of that so it does not happen to other customers. It was smooth sailing after that.
During docking, who ever is going to hook the boat back on the dock needs to wear footwear because two folks got splinters on their feet from the dock.
They have flush toilets at the office that you can use before and/or after you go boating. You also have the option to go back, dock, and use the restroom but that’s...
Read moreMy family has been coming her for well over 10 years. It is our place to disconnect from this increasingly connected society we live in. We bring our pups, our little kids and a lot of reason to take in the beauty. The cabins are rustic. It's almost like being in camp when you were little, but slightly upgraded. Yes, the cabins could use updating but they don't. They've upgraded the beds overtime and made all necessary repairs so it's very comfortable. But it's a place where you where shorts, t-shirts and flip flops all week long. You leave any pretention behind and you enjoy the most incredible view of a lake that you've ever seen. You enjoy the outstanding hiking, the wonderful stories of Mammoth, the GREAT hosts, the other families that inter-mingle and enjoy one another's company, the fabulous fishing and the stars at night. You pay more than you expect for that type of cabin because your realize what is priceless and the inability to do anything but relax and enjoy nature. If you want something more upscale and not directly across from a lake, then go into the main...
