Back in July 2020 I had a lovely conversation with Bill Fitzell, the owner and I booked two nights for an October wedding. The reputation of the Emig Mansion has always been wonderful so my husband and I were looking forward to our trip. When we arrived on October 10th for our stay I searched the house for a caretaker but the home was unoccuppied. I was immediately alarmed at the condition of the property. Unpacked boxes and clutter was everywhere; wet, used towels on the sink, clothes on the floor, dirty kitchen counters and open community food. My husband has medical issues so I took photographs and continued to look for someone. When I walked outside I saw two young adults walking towards me. I nicely explained that the accommodations would be unsafe for my husband. Another woman, walked around from the back and said she was the owner now and I would not be getting my deposit back. None of them wore masks, there was no hand sanitizer anywhere in the home and I began to show her the photographs I took so she quickly said she would refund my $184.82 deposit and walked away. I called back the next day and she answered the phone as "Lori Blanc" and told me I would not be getting my money back and hung up on me. ||I have since researched the property and found it was sold on September 10th of this year. Lori and Bill Fitzell's pictures were still on the webpage. I reached out to Bill with my dilemma since I sent the deposit to him but he will not reply. The social distancing and safety measures posted are not being followed. I have attached a few of the many photographs to back up my review. Luckily my husband and I found a room at Tru by Hilton in York and we were AMAZED at the cleanliness and extra precautions taken. Everyone wore masks, areas were marked for maximum social distancing safety and our door was sealed until we entered. ||I feel it is disgraceful that this woman can keep my money and that the previous owners are not standing by the reservation I made with them. My advise is to see the property in person before you book anything. Perhaps things have changed but I doubt it! If you have had a similar experience, please post a review!...
Read moreWe arrived, exhausted from a 7 hour drive, at The Emig Mansion and were greeted warmly by Lori, our hostess. She empathized with our exhaustion and offered us a lovely glass of wine while we toured this gracious home. Once ensconced in our 3rd floor, gorgeous suite, outfitted in period furnishings so tastefully situated, we unpacked and took our wine outside to comfy rockers on the wrap-around porch overlooking amazing old trees and beautiful gardens - in this tranquil setting.
The purpose of our trip was to return to a fabulous restaurant which was (partially) responsible for us falling in love 37 years ago! Now - a wee bit older - and more in love - my husband and I were excited about dining again at the Accomac Inn - (still owned and operated by the same person as in 1978). Having an equally Romantic residence in which to relax and reminisce was a 'must' on this retreat. We found it in The Emig Mansion!
Bill and Lori are the consummate hosts! Their warmth, knowledge and kindness exude. In addition to how they lovingly care for and accommodate each guest's needs, they are fabulous chefs!! Breakfast is served in a stunning dining room, paneled floor-to-ceiling by skilled craftsmen for the Emig family in the 1800s. These walls also encase outstanding stained-glass and leaded windows. The fare was so bountiful and so delicious each morning and the presentation of fruits and our meal so perfect it made us eat far more than we should have - but, who could resist?
Adjectives become limited when trying to paint a picture of our experience. Suffice to say - you could not be disappointed with this B & B. The most discerning of clientele will love it!
Our Romantic visit was beyond our expectations and we so hope to return. Based on the aging process - it better be before another 37 years!
Thank you Lori and Bill for a memorable, delicious and perfect visit.

Read moreWe canât say enough wonderful things about Emig Mansion and its owners Bill and Lori. Our stay there far exceeded our expectations. The mansion is absolutely beautiful and each room is decorated exquisitely. The porch feels like something out of âGone with the Windâ and we enjoyed ending our days out there relaxing and sipping wine, and some evenings visiting with the owners. Each breakfast was a fabulous gourmet meal starting with coffee or tea, juice and some type of fruit dish, followed by a wonderful brunch style meal including eggs, ham, bacon or sausage, and of course some type of carbs to get you through the day (i.e. Belgian waffles, pancakes, biscuits etc.) Breakfast was served at a beautiful long table that seated all the innâs guests and we enjoyed getting to know them. The real treasure of Emig Mansion though is the owners Bill and Lori. They could not be more gracious and accommodating. Bill is a huge Gettysburg enthusiast so he was a wealth of information to us, as the main purpose for our trip was to visit Gettysburg. They are both kind and delightful people who make you feel at home right away. By the time we left our five day stay, we felt like we were saying goodbye to good friends. We will definitely come back to Emig Mansion.
