Just because you want to go see the fall colors in Vermont is no reason for inns and hotels to charge people half a month’s mortgage or rent payment just to sleep in a comfortable bed for one night. This is what many places in Vermont do. Stanford Motel was NOT one of those other places, so this is what attracted me in the first place. This may yet change after they are finished with all their renovations. But for the moment, they are charging reasonable prices and not the $300+ per night price tag that even a “moderately” priced hotel, such as Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, are charging during the month of October in the state of Vermont.| This all being said, I didn’t find the Stanford Motel to be a “comfortable” place to sleep. The mattresses were comfortable enough for sleeping, but not equipped to handle “marital relations” with their split king beds (actually two twins slammed together). But the motel comes up short on room temperature controls and noise. | Our room was HOT. We were in room #6, which is located right over the boiler. The thermostat on the wall meant nothing. I had to sleep with the windows open all night long and this allowed to conversations of noisy neighbors to come into our room or cigarette smoke from people smoking outside of our window. The comforters on our beds were also unhelpful. They use those stupid duvets that many chain hotels have resorted to using. I am not a fan since they trap your body heat AND your partner’s body heat underneath and don’t allow the body to cool down. So I had to go out to my car and bring in one of my thinner blankets from home.| Noise: BRING EAR PLUGS in case you are in one or the first floor units. The people in the room above us either were trying to get “their steps in” or had horses with them all night long. There was constant “clomp, clomp, clomp” overhead as we were trying to relax and sleep. | I was happy with their renovations, except for the floor coverings. They really need, at the very least, a couple of throw rugs. I don’t like walking on hard floors in my bare feet. But they do have fridge and microwaves in the rooms, and...
Read moreMy family and I absolutely love this place ! We have been going 1-2 times a year (both with our young children and without) and we always have the best time!
The rooms are always clean and tidy, have every accommodation that we need, the staff is MORE than friendly, personable and extremely helpful. The service is impeccable. The rooms are always cleaned well and within an appropriate time frame, anything needed outside of the norm is always accommodated and everyone is always happy and friendly.
We always eat all our breakfasts at Nippers cafe, and I have to say it’s by far the best breakfast in Manchester ! Everything is delicious and the portions are huge ! We always do at least one dinner there as well which is always outstanding. It’s fun to be able to have dinner on the outside patio when the weather is nice and have a drink around the beautiful fire pit. There is a ton of nice open grass for the kids to run around also.
Lastly, the owners are phenomenal ! Extremely accommodating, friendly and personable. We’ve always had such an amazing time, and look forward to our next trip. In fact, we like it so much we have family that plan an annual trip there now too ! Would recommend this...
Read moreI stayed in a King Room at Stanford House, and greatly enjoyed my stay. They're currently finishing up renovations, so the room was actually nicer than what was shown online in my opinion! Pros: Room is big. Temperature-control. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Microwave. Good wifi. Quiet and dark room overnight. Great location and some outdoor seating areas with a view. Cleanliness. Cons: A bit pricey for what it is, but everything is in Vermont. Could use more bathroom storage/counter space. I could not, for the life of me, figure out the lamps haha. The room came with a King-sized bed, two bedside tables, TV, temperature control for both central heating and window AC unit, big desk, minifridge (with some included water bottles), microwave, small hanging area, good size bathroom with a large shower, towels, and soap bar (I didn't notice any other toiletries.) For a drive-up motel-style spot, this is really a nice place. I would recommend this spot and would...
