Let’s start off with the greeting at the door. This Inn embodies everything that one would envision of a beautiful Vermont Inn. The inn keeper greeted us at the door with a warm welcoming smile. As we enter it is clearly apparent that every detail is attended to. There was not even a spec of dust to be found. All of the decorations were absolutely beautiful the fireplaces were lit the candles were out and flowers were on the tables the atmosphere was So incredibly relaxing. Our room was simply put to die for we saw pictures while booking the room and the pictures definitely were spot on with what we envisioned. If it is relaxation you’re looking for the innkeepers have cookies and snacks available and you can make any kind of coffee or tea that you desire and if it is just a quiet afternoon of sitting by the fireplace and reading a book there are plenty to choose from. But also if it is birdwatching you will enjoy sitting in the conservatory on a beautiful couch looking out the window at the Vermont Green Mountain’s and watching the birds and the squirrels enjoy the time in the snow while you enjoy a cup of tea. Love and romance is in the air everywhere you go. After a good nights sleep you can guarantee to enjoy a beautiful home cooked breakfast. And if there’s a breakfast you enjoyed so much the innkeepers are glad to share the recipe with you. I would recommend a stay with these fine folks to anyone. If you are looking to clelebrate an anniversary, rekindle your love or just want a relaxing destination choose the Inn at Ormsby Hill. We spent the night there but with the welcoming atmosphere we could envision ourselves staying...
Read moreIt's difficult to put into words how special my experience was here, but here it goes. MaryAnn and Jack have taken it upon themselves to make every aspect of our stay as memorable as possible. I took my partner here for her birthday and I paid a small fee for one of the best chocolate ganache cakes I've ever had along with a bottle of Prosecco. The best part of course was that it was waiting on the bed when we arrived. I won't go into every single amenity since they are documented very well on the website, but I struggle to understand why anyone would pay for a room at the Hampton when this gem is only a few minutes away. Among other things, we had a steam shower, a whirlpool tub, and a gas fireplace. Then when we woke up in the morning we had a great view of the mountains. MaryAnn and Jack obviously take pride in what they do. When we had an issue with our gas fireplace, Jack was there to fix it less than 10 minutes later. The breakfast they prepare in the morning feels made to order rather than prepared en masse, and MaryAnn checked with us first to see if we had any dietary restrictions. The common areas are wide open spaces with tons of books and places to sit and chat. I even taught my partner how to play chess here on one of the tables! They also have a space dedicated to finding local activities. During the day, we spent our time cross country skiing, touring the Lincoln family home at Hildene, and visiting all sorts of shops and cafes in Manchester. I plan on returning in the summer for my own birthday when the Peonies start to bloom. MaryAnn and Jack are great people and will do anything they can to make your experience an...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed overnight to celebrate our 11th anniversary, and we were not impressed. We are native Vermonters and it is our tradition to stay overnight at a Vermont bed and breakfast each year. We didn't feel very welcomed when we first arrived... no one showed us around the inn, grounds, or walked us to our room. For the amount of money it cost to stay for one night, especially for Manchester VT, I expected the breakfast to "Wow" us, and I was very disappointed. The yogurt parfait was the best part. The single piece of French toast was very bland, and the 2 slices of bacon tasted like heat and serve (definitely not what I was expecting). I can look past most of these little things, but what made this the worst experience for us was the fact that I slipped and fell in the shower and dislocated my right shoulder, and neither inn keeper came to check on us while we waited for the ambulance crew to show up. I was rolled down the stairs by the EMTs writhing in pain as the ball of my shoulder was jutting out, and although they saw me from the office, they didn't even come over to ask if I was okay. Customer service is lacking, and for that reason alone, I would not recommend this inn and we will not be...
