I honestly thought the resort was great, the food was delicious, the thirsty goat saloon was awesome and the service at both was amazing! The scenery was beautiful and the golf course looked really good from a far. I booked this get a way a few months back and was so excited to golf this course. It was a little more expensive than we normally go for but my thinking was this maybe our once a year trip where we treat our selves. We traveled 350 miles at 7.4 miles to a gallon to play this course. Upon arrival to the RV check in we were told the RV site is a dark night community, which I can understand, it’s an amazing view at night with the insane amount of stars you can see. We arrived at the resort on Saturday and had a T time booked for Monday, so Sunday was a free day for us to do some exploring. We went to the the big bend national park and ended up getting back a little later than expected. The club house has a nice laundry mat at the RV park and considering we were golfing the next day we wanted to get our laundry nocked out that evening. The club house closes at ten and we got done with our laundry around 9:15 PM. We had to use flashlights walking to and from because it is sooo dark. I think that’s where the problem started, maybe? Around 930 a man approached my husband while he was sitting outside the RV with our 3 dogs in there kennel. We did have a Dewalt flashlight on the step of the RV. Facing towards the ground, to be able to see good enough to navigate in and out while we got our dogs situated for bed. The man proceeded to to tell my husband that “ we let y’all get away with this last night but you can’t have that light on”. He did not say who he was so we assumed he was another guest. My husband explained, my wife just has this light on to help get the dogs situated. He seemed belligerent and would not let it go. It was so dark you could barely see him but you could make out that he had a large dog with him on a leash. After several minutes of my husband saying, “I’m gonna turn the light off, please go about your business”, he began to tell us that he was the RV park manager and we would not be welcomed back to the park. He told me my husband was being “lippy” to him. After hearing everything thing he said, I will admit I told him he was an A-hole. He then said, “ what did you say to me, “ so I repeated myself and said you’re an A-hole. He appeared to be intoxicated, and trying to be intimidating. After that, my husband told him you need to leave now and he did. Like I said, we had plans to play golf the next day. After that confrontation with the RV park manager we no longer felt comfortable staying at the park, so first thing the next morning we packed up to make the trip home. I notified golf course to cancel our T time, he directed me to the hotel manager and then to the general manager. I do feel like the general manager handled the situation correctly and made the money part of it right. It was really disappointing leaving a day early, do to this, because I was truly so looking forward to golfing at this course and more than likely will not make the trip to go back. No longer comfortable to stay at the RV park and the rooms at the motel are a little out of my budget. I will leave with this, we have a good group of friend that do the same type of RV trips that we do. One in-fact that recently stayed at the resort. I know when I return home they are going to want to know how it went and I am going to be brutally honest about our experience. My husband want to add that the General Store, chorizo, egg and cheese burritos were...
Read moreThis is an RV Park so don't know about rooms. Site pads could use some leveling and paving but the scenery is second to none. No lights policy after 9 pm means awesome stargazing, when no moon. The pool is open until 10 pm. The day air is hot and dry so drink plenty of fluids. The general store has an excellent deli. Like, unexpectedly good. RV park gives access to the Resort Restaurant, Thirsty Goat Bar and Bakery (pizza, baked desserts, gourmet ice cream and assorted deli foods. Wonderfully located for day drives to Persidio, The Big Bend State Park and Fort, and Big Bend National Park. So much to see and do. Big Bend area is out of the way so not as many visitors to clog roads, well, except the world famous chili cookoff. The only iffy part of travel in this area is fuel. Sanderson on 90 runs out of fuel as do all of the stations in the area, at times. Fill up where ever possible. Saw several people looking for diesel in Lajitas and there is none. Used to be, and the pump hose is there but hard to believe the last price was $6 there and 18 miles away in Study Butte Diesel is $3.89. Saw lots if people looking for diesel at the Lajitas general store and their look of disgust at the price and look of desperation when they found out there was no diesel. But over all, we found this place really nice with a pool and clubhouse. And the employees were super cordial and all acted like they were there to make our vaca as enjoyable as possible. 👍 PS...one of the city life drawbacks of camping in this area is they have power outages. Not the fault of the resort at all. Just the way it is. Dont leave pets in RVs. There is no guarantee, they or your food, will be safe without some kind of onboard alternative power source to 110 shore power. We left the propane tanks on so that when power went out our fridge would flip over to propane. Some RVs might have an auto switch to start a generator or might have to manually start a generator. Anyway, something to...
Read moreToo notch! High praise to Jeff in the office. Never have we experienced the thoughtfulness he displayed when we informed him our 15 pound dog would be alone in our trailer (in case of a power outage as air conditioning was needed) while we went to visit the Big Bend National Park where dogs are not permitted on hiking trails. He told us at check-in that some people inform the office in these situations, and some leave a key in case of an emergency. We were thoroughly impressed when Jeff unexpectedly called us to say he had gone to our trailer to check on our dog and she seemed fine. Never have we experienced such thoughtfulness. Above and beyond customer service!
The park also has a dog-friendly scenic overlook trail that we hiked twice. Excellent WiFi was available (we were next to a WiFi transmitter in site 79). Overall, this is a well-kept park with some artistic touches using wood, rocks and cacti. Large clean laundry room with tables, clothes hanging area and an iron. Nice, clean pool with seating all around and some covered and semi-covered areas.
If you need electric hook-ups and/or can’t reserve a spot in the Big Bend National Park, Maverick RV Park is a great place to stay as it is also on the state highway that is the only paved road through the Big Bend Ranch State Park. The drive toward Presidio is scenic, if not a bit thrilling, with one hill being a 15% grade. This park is part of a golf resort/spa which was available to us but we did not use it. The RV park was a great experience on...
