I am sharing my personal experience to help others make a wise choice. There seems to be a change since our visit last summer or perhaps, the hotel was too busy to fully address the needs of guests. My hunch is they became surprised with the number of guests and had not prepared rooms accordingly. We had two rooms for one night as we visited family in the area.||||For the entire visit, we were unable to use the internet. First I was told it was overloaded or busy with other guests by the front desk person, then the manager assumed I was using a laptop and a firewall blocked. We were using our phones, the same as at Drury Hotels and Hilton where we experienced zero issues. I never did get the phones to work which I need for my job.||||My room was not as clean as last year with few amenities, including experiencing cold water in the shower. The morning breakfast was not as good and more limited.||||The primary concern is the room of the second guest. It was apparent that the room was not cleaned properly as it had an offensive odor which smelled like feces. No wonder that the toilet did not work properly as well. The guest brought this to the manager's attention the next morning who visited the room and stated that she did not "smell anything" and he should have told her about the toilet earlier (despite, also noting that she had no where to move him, anyway). With this being said, he asked for a discount or compensation for a less than quality room and working toilet. She refused and actually threatened to contact the authorities! ||||I am a frequent traveler and never experienced such a terrible stay. Yes, we were compensated with a few BW points which we do not plan to use again. Due to the circumstances for my visit and all of us dealing with grief due to deaths in our family, needless to say, this was not a peaceful stay. I do not recommend and suggest going the "extra mile" to a safe and quality hotel. I have photos but chose to not upload as I feel the shared details adequately describe the...
Read moreReceptions nice, areas a little less, but did anyone get a smart TV that was incredibly stupid or programed not to let you use it. Like theirs a specific wifi not connected to the internet with the tvs room number on it. I just wanna watch the boys on my damn TV. And I've delt with hotels where people actual mess with your TVs programing. Their actualy taught by horrific ppl how to do it. And the last hotel I went in to had a parental lock in it. Like, is it the area where they just don't want people able to use tvs properly. They do always bother any actual men in certain areas. Tho most don't make it in my methods. Ether way I don't get it. Theyd have to have a wifi signal for every room with its room number on it for them all not to be connected to the internet. I just checked cause idk why I didn't and theirs littleraly only that one extra wifi with my room number on it specifically. Besides that tho, the hotels clean and I got coffee in my room but it's 50$ to high for what it actualy is. It's a super 8 unless the breakfast blows me away somehow. Also, like I've said the area, absent the issues I'm presented with being awesome. If not worth the visit. Theirs plenty bear hear. Brownsville prices are fair and so are a few other hotels an easy drive away. I guess it's on you but, I'd go stay somewhere for 50$ and get the same thing. Rif Raf still hear. And they got music blasting and ppl outside. The reason I have to mention the tv is cause I asked for a smart TV in three different hotels, and my person always proceeds me. Which legaly I'm supposed to feel secure in. Once you don't let a kid get cast in to sex slavery califonia hates you. So.. you know. Not that their ain't plenty more. Another thing was I went to go to a town near hear and every hotel was taken down on Google. I don't think I'm being paranoid. Called customer service. Apparently my tv theory is incorrect. The rest more or...
Read moreMy room was very clean and presentable. Beds were soft and made to perfection (corners were tucked in like a US Marine had made it) with plenty of pillows. Showers were hot with great water pressure. Microwave worked great. Fridge did freeze some of my drinks, but nothing was ruined and that's been the norm for hotel fridges in my experience; so I expected it and planned accordingly. My encounter with the staff was always friendly, professional, warm and down right funny (lady scared me and we both had a good laugh about it). You could tell they loved their jobs and took great pride in what they did. I did not eat any of the continental breakfast, but the coffee was good and it was nice knowing the breakfast was available. Overall, I would stay here again. I have not been to a Best Western in many years, so I didn't know what to expect. If all Best Western Hotels followed their lead in what I experienced, they might set a standard in the hospitality business.
As for location, there is a Casey's General Store across the street, a Domino's Pizza close by and a local grocery store less than a mile away. There are several other restaurants around as well, but I couldn't recall them. Those locations I named, served me well and I didn't have to go too far to get supplies for my stay. If you want to go to a WalMart, that's about 20-30...
