I visited with a group in late January. The overly positive reviews excited us and while they're not entirely untrue, they're not entirely true either.||||Pros:||||-Great architecture and interior design. Lots of cute and interesting wall art and furniture from at least a century ago. You could spend a good hour during your stay just admiring them all.||||- The room is comfortable and colorful. Slept like a baby and had trouble sleeping the other but that is because I'm a light sleeper and the noise of the road kept waking me up. ||||- Great water pressure in the shower. I know this is very specific, but it is something I appreciated. On a cold January day, the gush of hot water felt heavenly.||||Cons:||||- The descriptions, even here, say there is a fitness center. There isn't one. Luckily we found a good walking trail.||||- The place claims to have "FREE BREAKFAST" and that is technically true, but there isn't any actual HOT, FRESH breakfast. Cereal dispensers, breads and toasters, juice in the fridge... I can see how staying more than a couple of days this stuff can get boring, compelling you to seek breakfast elsewhere. ||||- We never saw a single person in charge during our stay here. I know bed and breakfasts are different from hotels, but it would have been nice to meet at least a single person who worked at the house so we could talk and ask questions.||||All in all, it was an alright experience at Ashley House for us. Some great things and some really disappointing,...

Read moreMy wife and I stayed here over part of Memorial Day weekend. Our room was nice, if a bit small, and the bed was more firm than is my preference (but my wife very much liked the bed's firmness). My single biggest "complaint" -- as petty as this may sound -- is that the toilets are "old" ... the small "circle" kind of seat ... and I've become accustomed to the newer "oval" seats that are larger (and honestly, more comfortable). The toilet paper is typical of many hotels -- "inexpensive" -- not as bad a "cheap" ... but not "Charmin" either! However, the location is great for trips to Melbourne to visit my family there. It can be a very quiet place, depending on how many people are there -- and the front porch is a nice place to sit when the temperature and humidity are nice. Overall, Ashley House is nice, though the "Bed & Breakfast" is a bit misleading now. I miss the "old days" when this was a "bed and breakfast" place in the "homecooked" sense, though -- having cereal or a toasted (frozen) waffle or plastic-wrapped pastry just isn't the same as a cooked breakfast like eggs, gravy, and biscuits. The reservation system is great -- just call and ask if a room is available, and if it is, you're all set up! As I said, however, overall, Ashley...
