UPDATE: Day 2 Breakfast: OH MY GOSH. It was so good. I had accidentally forgotten they had breakfast so I didn’t get down stairs until 9:00 am (breakfast ends at 9:30). It was well put together and clean with a lot of options:)! There was biscuits and gravy, pancakes, toast, muffins, cinnamon rolls, omelette, and oatmeal (there’s probably more I just am eating right now lol) I didn’t grab a pancake though because I was shy to grab and make it lol. Since I was one of the last people here hahaha. Even though I was last, the food was still hot and all the options were still out, usually people put them away hecka early before breakfast is over. Maria thank you so much! SUCH A WELCOMING CUSTOMER SERVICE! She was soo kind and offered me more food and a Togo bag because she saw me grabbing food for my friends LOL. But she did not mind. For sure a 10/10 service. Thank you Maria!||Hey everyone:) I'm staying here from 6/23/25-6/25/25 (2 nights, 3 days). ||I'm a travel nurse, and recently I've made a decision that I thought I was going to be moving to LA, so I put my apartment lease up, and ended up not liking it in LA, so now I'm kind of "homeless" lol. But, I rarely was home anyways because of work, so it kind of fits out well. ANYWAYS, I just wanted to put that out there so you can get the idea of me traveling and staying in hotels very often.||Pre Booking: I ended up booking directly through their website (IHG) because I have a friend who is part of the IHG program and he has endless rewards and free nights stays. That definitely caught my attention, so I signed up as well. For two nights, 364$. A bit pricy for me, but I was definitely tired of staying in those "hooker" hotels in this Merced area (I won't say any names, but they were around 80-90$ a night.) So I book online after registering as a member, and then they hold my reservation for me until I get to the hotel. (They don't charge you upon booking online, nor do you have to pay a deposit. They charge you once you get to the hotel.)||First Day (6/22/25): I walk into the hotel, and it is instantly so welcoming! The front desk receptionist was super nice, she got me checked in within 3 minutes! That was a world record to be honest for me, speaking from someone who's stayed in like 5 hotels the past week. She was very professional and kind. ||The hallways are so kept up well, and the elevator was not scary at all. (I have a fear of old looking elevators that might break down and have me stuck in it) I get to my room on the 2nd floor and it's kept up so nicely! See the pictures for yourself. It has a nice roomy bathtub (I'm 6'2 so a roomy bathtub is a plus) and that's first thing I did when I came in was jump in the bathtub. I definitely am relaxed (hence why I have the extra time to right this review for a well deserving hotel.) The TV works, there's a microwave, a fridge, a workspace area, very good AC, a nice closet, and a full body mirror. A full body mirror is a must for me lol. I was greeted by another staff member on the way up here, thank you for making this place so welcoming Holiday Inn! I really needed it!||I definitely can't wait for breakfast tomorrow, I will provide...
Read moreI was here as a parent of a UC Merced student, it was my first time to Merced and wanted a safe and comfortable place to relax. My check-in was very bland no greeting, she walked away and left me standing at the counter while talking to another employee.
I asked how to get to my room she said all outside doors will get you in?? Really? Well I parked on the Westside of the building turns out my room was the last room almost on the east side of the building.
Once I got to my room nothing special typical hotel room. The beds were very uncomfortable but I was so tired it was fine. My refrigerator didn’t get cold so I called the front desk, we waited about 15-20 minutes without anyone coming so I called again the front desk clerk said oh I think I gave him the wrong room number. Once Michael got there he was very nice and explained it was on but didn’t get very cold. I went to get ice but had to go downstairs to the first floor to get ice no machine on my floor.
The next day after the cleaning lady came I still had my same melted water from the night before. I guess I dropped 2 brochures on the side of the bed they were still there.
Even though we had some issues my stay here was not bad. The breakfast was yummy and the lady helping in there was great! I will be coming up to Merced more often and will stay here again. Overall I felt safe, comfortable and the business center came in handy. Please just check on the color of the pool and those beds. One more thought it would be great if you had suggestions of where to eat besides the...
Read moreAlthough we only stayed one night, we were VERY happy with the overall experience.
Beds were super comfy. I actually slept better in these beds than at home. SIX stars for the beds! Bathroom was clean -- plenty of towels. Carpet looked good. Furniture was in good shape. TV worked properly and was a decent size.
Really good breakfast selections! Biscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs? Pancakes? Nice! Probably the best I've ever experienced in a hotel of this class. The food was on par with some nicer boutique hotels we've stayed at. If I had to rate the food quality, I'd say that it's a little better than fast food and almost as good as Denny's or IHOP. Considering the price of the room, the breakfast makes it an even better value.
There were some questionable stains on one wall (almost looked like dried blood) that we noticed as were packing to check out. Had we noticed it earlier we would have asked someone to deal with it. It's possible that it needed to be painted over thus making it impossible for the cleaning staff to do more than try and clean the surface. Another small issue was the puddle of water accumulated outside the tub after using it. Yes, me and my wife both know how to position a shower curtain, but after each of us showered, we both had a small lake that had to be cleaned up. Good thing we had all those extra towels. The aforementioned were minor gripes. We will definitely stay here again the next time were down to...
