This review is one of deep emotional attachment...My father was married there in the little church...11 days later he found out he had a brain tumor and passed away 10 months later...He never got to revisit the place that held such a special place in his heart... Fast forward to this past weekend, my husband and I were there for 4 days celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. We stayed in a cottage...and when I say "stayed" I mean we slept there, we got ready for our day there. We spent our time exploring Mexico Beach, Port St Joe, Cape San Blas, Appilachicola, and St.George Island...the rest of the time we were enjoying the beach that was 20 feet from the cottage and enjoying "our" porch with the amazing view. Everyone was SO nice. It was clean and quite. We will definitely be back. If you are looking for The Hilton with all the bells and whistles...this isn't the place for you...its very family oriented, the perfect peaceful getaway.....A beautiful piece of paradise....It was so nice to have bicycles available for guests and a gift shop with some really nice souvenirs. The cats keep you company, the big dog, Dufus and JoJo the bird make it all the more charming as well....Not to mention the variety of birds you will see making their home in the many bird houses on yhe property. We are home now but missing The...
Read moreThis is my second stay at the Driftwood Inn and definatly my last. I should have listened to the review that stated, "Staff at driftwood you need to wake up, people do not like to come on vacation to deal with rude, ugly staff." I could not agree more. I spent 3 hours cleaning the house that we rented before I would bring any of my belongings inside and I didn't even complain. A couple days later I went to the front desk to request an extra blanket and I was holding my 2 yo son. The owner ignored me and acted like I was "bothering" her, she was VERY rude. I told her that I did not appreciate her and her staffs ugly attitude and she called me a "BTCH" in front of my TODDLER!!! This place is very dirty and unkept. Everything is broken - toilets, faucets, furniture, doors, windows and the beds are horrible. I would have checked out after the owner cursed at me but I am from VA and had no place to go. Thanks to that old witch my toddlers new favorite word is BTCH. On another note, my mothin in law was staying in a cottage and her toilet overflowed at 1am. She had brought that toilet and its problems up to the staff earlier in the day and they said "we know it has been having issues." They moved her to another cottage the next morning and that afternoon they had someone else staying in the cottage with the...
Read moreI just stayed this past weekend in one of the cottages. This wasn't my favorite at first, but it grew on me. It is a little out dated. It needs some new beds and furniture, fresh paint in some places, new ice machine. It is clean however. And when it says cottage, it means half of one. The cottage and victorain house are divided, so it is not actually your own little place. But the Driftwood Inn grounds are beautiful! Plants and flowers every where! There are common areas with chairs and swings to sit, there is a fire pit area, lovely decks. It has easy access to the beach, the description says on beach, and it is, but there are sand dunes in between. The location is great too. I checked in on a Friday and parked, and never moved my car in 3 days. We walked to Toucan's and Killer Seafood, both are great food! There is a small grocery in town. Everything you need for a quiet, relaxing few days. I do recommend this place for a small group, I think next time, I'll try to go and rent a house, there several beach rentals on the beach all the way down the strip, just to have some extra space, the (half) cottage for 2 was quite small. The beach here is nice, was dark at first from so many storms, but cleared up and wasn't bad. Driftwood is the nicest of the 4 hotels when googled. Do recommend it though, I...
