Middlebury Sweets Motel — Hotel in Middlebury

Clean room. That’s about it.

Before checking in, you have to fill out a form via internet. Its a pretty long thing, a couple of pages - guest number, breakfast choices, are you bringing a pet, stuff like that. Have to send them a copy of your drivers license too. Found the questionnaire burdening, odd and annoying. They send out another request the day you arrive - you get it even if you filled it out before. If you’re gonna make me fill out a questionnaire, at least you could acknowledge its receipt. Sloppy.

The day I checked in there had been a lot of snow. It wasn’t cleared. There was six inches of snow in front of my door and on the sidewalk leading up to it. I had to clear the snow from the sidewalk and driveway in order to get to my room. Glad I brought a shovel.

The room is cold and drafty - with one central air handler - uncomfortable taking a shower in a freezing room without a second heater - the desk area is cold too. Not enough light, dark drapes and plug in lights in most of the corners. The lights in the ceiling of my room were missing bulbs. WIFI signal comes and goes.

The fridge is nice, there’s drawers and a place to hang your stuff. And its clean. And...

This motel may be small but that just adds even more to the motels overall charm. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They will go out of their way to make your stay the most comfortable as possible. The rooms are very clean and each one has it's own candy theme. We stayed in the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory room. Very nicely done. The little breakfast area the motel has in the morning was very nice. And if you are still hungry or need a special treat head right to the center of the motel, is a very good sized candy shop. They have practically everything you could think of. They even have vegan gummies, which I really enjoyed. Anyway I definitely recommend this place. It is a pet friendly place, so you can bring along your fur babies as well. Blanca and staff were very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. It's a motel type accommodation. Building on older side but rooms were clean and efficient. Great part of motel type of rooms is that you can park your car right up against your door and easily unload or load your car. There is closet size room for their "breakfast." Basically it's big enough for a refrigerator and you go inside and pick up individually wrapped breakfast food and bring back to your room to eat. I give them bonus points for trying to do a little extra for their guests. It's not the fanciest of places to stay but price was great and convenient. When you leave property and make right turn, it's 2 miles to center of Middlebury. If you make left turn, it's about 10 miles to Middlebury...
