A unique and old fashioned drive in burger joint with friendly service!! If you are visiting Vermont, you MUST come here.
This is a living, breathing time capsule of the 1950's burger culture. If you close your eyes and put the right tunes on, you could easily envision yourself with greased hair, a leather jacket, and a serious appetite for a burger, Murica's first cultural food, even predating the hot dog
Delicious burgers (Papa burger for big boys), buttermilk chicken tenders, and AMAZING A&W root beer floats.
One of the few remaining dining experiences of it's kind in the northeast region. Well worth a detour if you are anywhere in the area.
Sadly, the covid as sapped some of the fun out of the experience--the tray of food hanging from your car window, and the worst part? No more ice cold mugs for the root beer floats.
F covid.
And did I mention that the owners are great people that care of their staff? Well, they are.
Only thing that could make this place better is the servers on rollerskates!

Read moreWell I haven't been there in years, plan on taking a trip to Vermont to relive my childhood years. I remember long ago, when they used to have the waitresses on roller skates, they would bring out your food and put it on your window for you. I don't see them doing that now, kind of miss that nostalgia. My God that was back in the late 70s early 80s. I don't know if they still serve the soda in cold glasses, and sell a gallon of root beer in plastic milk containers or not, and if they do I'm probably sure not for a dollar anymore LOL. I gave it five stars because every time I see that restaurant, it brings tears to my eyes. Great memories man! A&W will always be in my heart because it is my opinion one of America's finest fast food chains that should have never went bust. It was one of the very few times that my family came together when we went to this restaurant. And one of the very few times when we actually felt like we were family. I definitely will be making a stop when I go on my little...
Read moreAll was great. I was hungry and ordered the chicken wings. I got 10 tender plump wings. Wish they had buffalo but only one flavor garlic butter. They were very good with 2 large packets of blue cheese dressing. Got a large portion of fries. I like them as they are a cross of a steak fry and reg fry. Very meaty and a very small portion of coleslaw which was good but only 3 bites and wish they had been a little colder. With this all being said. Waitress very friendly, I like how it was boxed and bagged instead of tray. I was very full and would recommend the wing dinner if you don't mind the garlic butter flavor. I'm a senior on SS budget so the 14.50 for dinner and 3.50 for large root beer (gotta have it). Total with tax and tip 23.00. I would suggest for a couple you could share the large portion and still be full (less the coleslaw). I love A&W and have since I was a kid. I will go back but probably not as often as I would like (only cause of cost) Burgers are great and 1/4 lb dogs. Big menu....
