Great value and a good pet policy for responsible pet owners. The only drawback is the neighborhood and lack of food & beverage options nearby. If you want fast food, you're all set. However, if you want healthier food, or more variety, or a choice of adult beverages, you have to go west across the river via the interstate - where I've stayed previously, and probably will again based solely on dining options. However - for what you pay, the room was clean, recently renovated, and felt current vs dated. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the HVAC worked well and quietly. ||||Caveats about the "recent renovation" part: my room door was missing the privacy peephole piece - meaning, the hole was there....but no optical device to prevent someone outside just looking in. Problem solved with some tissue wadded into the hole, but should have been addressed prior to a guest staying. Anyone who has renovated a room in their house knows the pervasiveness of dust, and this room was not immune. Cleaned as well as any other room of the hotel, I'm sure, this room still had those renovation dust piles in hard to reach corners. I overlooked, because I've been there myself. Also, the metal base of the bed was...loud. My 70 lb. dog jumped onto the bed and it made a racket which made me wonder what kind of noise the inevitable adult activities that happen in hotels would produce.||||Room amenities: I know this is a budget option hotel, however, only one coffee pack for a room that could clearly sleep two? And three narrow pillows for a king-sized bed not only looks ridiculous, but what if both travelers needed 2 pillows? Now, that being said, those were my only two gripes. This room was an exceptional value - especially considering the pet policy.||||Staff: I checked in rather late in the evening, but the person at the front desk was fantastic. Not "fake-friendly" in that annoying service industry standard kind of way, but genuine, concise, thorough and thoughtful. She accommodated a special request without hesitation. I hope the rest of the staff is like her.||||Thinking of booking here? Do it. But request a renovated room as I am left wondering what the "unrenovated" ones are like. If you're fine with driving for dinner - or are OK with soggy fries and soft drinks - then this value can't be beat on this side...
Read moreBED BUGS in room 116! After two weeks camping in the wilderness we were looking forward to a relaxing night with amenities on our way home, Red Roof instead provided the worst hotel experience of my well traveled life. Our nightmare stay started with me killing a giant German cockroach in the room right after we arrived around 8:00 pm, gross but whatever. Then my son jumped out of bed from a bug crawling on him at about 11:00. A bed bug. I smashed it and immediately walked up to the front desk with the evidence still smeared across my finger. I was offered another room and told make sure anything I moved to the new room was clean. Really?! In neither room do the mattresses have any sort of encasement to prevent bed bugs from infesting the mattresses, what you typically see in most hotels, we have them for all our mattresses and pillows at home. It took us about two hours to throughly inspect everything, bag it, and move it. Then we had to toss and inspect the new room. At about 1:00 am, with a bag of infested laundry in hand (I could see bed bugs crawling around it through the bag) I was told by the same front desk woman that I would need quarters to start the washing machine but was offered none or any assistance. I had to walk up to the gas station up the street in the middle of the night to beg for quarters (thankfully the woman at the gas station was an angel). I was up until almost five in the morning doing laundry. In the morning my husband drove to get bed bug spray and more garbage bags to treat and bag up our remaining luggage. No manager or anyone came to talk with us about it or remedy the situation. I’m out $138 total cost of the hotel room through Priceline, $9 in laundry (a profit to the hotel for giving me bed bugs), a $15 can of bed bug killer spray, a box of trash bags, time and gas to go to Walmart, and entire night of much needed sleep after and before a long day’s drive. Save yourself and your sanity, go to literally any...
Read moreWe stayed here on two separate nights. I give this place a five star rating based on it’s own merits as a budget priced motel. For us, one of the biggest reasons we use red roof Inn is that they allow pets and there is no additional fee for them… That is huge!. On both visits our rooms were clean. The rooms included refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, ironing board, iron, luggage rack, closet, set of drawers and a desk with a lamp and plenty of outlets. The bathroom and the entry hall have sensors for automatic lights that turn off after a certain amount of time. Our air conditioner worked very well in both rooms. The bath towels were thick, large, and very clean. The water was very hot. The Internet worked well and the TV had a lot of channels. The beds and pillows were very comfortable! On our first visit we were in a rear facing room, it was quiet. On our second visit we faced the interstate and could hear traffic noise. We did not find the traffic noise to be at all annoying it was more like background noise. I actually enjoy a room where I can watch traffic go by and hear a bit of the noise. The front desk personnel were very friendly, check in and check out went quickly and smoothly. The pool was not open and does not look like it will be anytime soon, but for us that was not an issue because we had no intention of using a pool. If that is something that you expect I would call ahead to see...
