My husband and I booked a 2 night stay here while we were in the area to visit beautiful Muir Woods and explore the surrounding coast line.
We were blown away at how beautiful this hotel was. The bungalows are decorated with modern and sleek designs. They really have considered all your needs for a comfortable stay here. We booked the studio king with the kitchenette. It was a spacious room with all the amenities you'd need to cook a small meal. We didn't use any of it, but appreciated that it was available. We loved the Nespresso in our room and took full advantage of it during our stay.
The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well while we were here. Everything at this boutique hotel was lovely and we throughly enjoyed our stay. It was also very quiet as we were the only guests during this particular weekend. Our only regret was leaving. We wished we could have extended our stay and will definitely be booking again if we are in the area.
Check in is a breeze. Typically, they text you an agreement to sign and then send you a code to check in. I was having issues receiving their text, but Kelly was very kind to call and provide us with it. The codes are used to enter both the main gate and the rooms. We appreciated the added security and privacy of the main gate. I think it also eliminates some of the noise from the main highway since it's located pretty close to it.
The hotel is also walking distance from the main strip of the town and beach. There are plenty of offerings for food, coffee, pastries, and ice cream. Such a quaint little area!
The only issue we saw was the parking. It's very tight here. Luckily, it wasn't busy during our stay. I'm not sure how it would work if the place was booked. Not all guests would have a guaranteed parking spot.
If you're pondering weather or not to book, just do it! You won't regret it! Love, love the Surf Lodge. Great customer service, immaculate rooms, and a...
Read moreMy husband and I went on a "mini-moon" to Stinson after our wedding ~ we both have high stress jobs that don't allow a lot of extended time off, but we needed an escape after all the planning and spending to regroup.
We were looking for anywhere near the ocean, but as soon as my husband found the Surf Lodge, it was no contest. I grew up in Marin (currently live in the East Bay) and my husband is a total water baby (he was born in Oahu.) The location is absolutely excellent ~ it's immediately after the Dipsea crossing and down the street from the OG Live Water shop. The market a couple blocks down has just about everything you need.
We definitely went to the beach a few times, but we spent most of our 4 days in heaven at the Surf Lodge. Cameron greeted us immediately upon arrival, and he was just so laid back and pleasant to be around. Later on, he taught us how to turn on the fire pit and a little about how the Surf Lodge came to be. We found him so inspiring. And it was really clear that he was dedicated to making sure we had a great experience.
If you're looking for a laid back surf lounge dialed up with a pinch of boho, this is the place. It's a clean, modern take on the surf shack that so many of us beach babies remember. Each cabin has Dutch doors, so you can leave the whole place open and airy. If you're like my husband, you can also use the blackout curtains to well, black out. The bed is absolutely fantastic (I slept for like, 11 hours straight) and the lighting is perfect ~ it's almost all dimmable. The bathroom has a BEAUTIFUL rainfall shower head. Oh, and there are USB outlets included in the plug outlets on each nightstand.
There aren't enough good things to say about this place. The people we met (Cameron and another wonderful woman who I felt I'd known my whole life!) were so welcoming and genuinely kind. I left feeling really happy that my hometown still had some cool people doing...
Read moreMy recent overnight stay at the Surf Lodge was an absolute delight! Beginning with the sun-speckled drive to the property nestled in the hills of Stinson, to the minute I (reluctantly) checked out, it felt like a home away from home.
Cameron, the owner, and his family have poured their hearts into each detail of this charming property, and it shows. The enclosed courtyard of The Surf Lodge creates a private oasis from the gentle bustle of the town. And the Fish Board Studio guest room had numerous highlights that made my stay exceptional. It had the smart layout of a design magazine while maintaining the come-as-you-are-welcome of a laid-back beach bungalow. The kitchenette was highly functional and well-stocked, and the bright open windows were fitted with both daylight and evening shades, creating maximum flexibility. In summary, form met function throughout.
In the evening, you can hear the ocean waves from the Surf Lodge or take a five-minute stroll to the beach. What a wonderful new addition to Marin County. Thank you for your warm hospitality. I highly recommend...
