I will never do business through Kasa again, and if you decide to, you need to be very careful. Especially if bringing a pet. They tell you that they are pet friendly, and after you make your purchase they send you information that a whole huge group of dogs aren't allowed. They said if you bring those dogs anyway, you will be kicked out, and wont be refunded. But not only that, you will also face a $500 fine. My dog is a rescue, and the only thing the Rescue knew about her was that she is a terrier mix. Certain terriers are banned, but others are okay. I contacted Kasa and told them my dog is a mutt, and no one knows what she is mixed with, but I was worried i would get there and someone would feel more confident naming her breed than the actual Rescue was. I told them I cant risk getting kicked out and fined $500. First they told me to use an IPhone and see if that would tell me the breed, but I dont have an IPhone. Then they said the only thing I could do was just go and hope for the best. That wasnt acceptable, and at that point I decided to cancel. Clear they dont care about the best interest of their customers.
I had free cancelation, and I wasnt supposed to be charged until the date of the stay which was 3 months away. As soon as I canceled, they sent the charge through and took almost $600 from me. I contacted them and told them that was unacceptable as well, and that I needed that money to rent my next hotel room. They said sorry, thats just policy and I will have to wait 5 to 10 business days to get ny refund. Its now been 15 business days, and I still dont have my money back. At this point, its starting to feel like a scam and Im going to have to pursue false charges through my bank. Thats probably why they tell you to wait so long to receive your refund, the longer the charge stays the more real it looks to banks.
All of this nonsense just because Kasa refuses to tell you ahead of time what dogs they dont allow before you purchase.
By the way, I used ChatGPT to tell me what type of dog I have, and it said Jack Russell terrier mixed, which I believe it an allowed breed, but still wasnt worth the risk of having someone at the hotel decide its a breed that wasnt allowed and kick you out, and charge you an extra $500. I highly recommend no one doing business with...
Read moreThis is my second stay with Kasa within a month. Although we also experienced issues in Charlotte at Kasa NoDa, this time was quite unacceptable! There were bugs spotted randomly throughout the apartment the entire duration of our stay, pubic hair was found on the master bathroom’s toilet, the toilet paper holder in the second bedroom was broken (later fixed), the second toilet stopped working for 3 of the 4 days we stayed there, and we would hear a rush of water through two nights and could not find the source. Management advised the toilet would not be fixed during our stay so 4 people were forced to share one toilet although we booked what should have been a fully functioning 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit. They also were unsure of the sound of water and would investigate.
On day 3, we were evacuated from the building due to the fire alarm going off from someone cooking food. As we’re trying to safely exit, we are notified that excessive noise was detected on the noise detectors, then a second text minutes later threatened to cancel our reservation if we did not call to speak to someone since we were violating their policy. The person the reservation was under called and after a long period of time was dropped from holding. However, I was able to call and someone picked up right away! Why is that?! The representative on the phone acknowledged that they were unaware of the fire alarm and thanked me for bringing it to their attention so they can proactively reach out to other guests who received the same message. So multiple people were sent a cancellation threat due to noise and not one person realized this isn’t an isolated issue?! I asked how are they usually notified of issues that affect the entire building. I was told the property manager did not post on a bulletin board. The property manager did not appear to be on-site on this particular Sunday.
I vacation a lot and brought some friends along to experience a city unfamiliar to us. The experience here though kind of ruined the vacation for me. I hate the smell of smoke and could smell marijuana in the hallway near our unit around the 220’s. There was a lot of construction in the area and throughout the city, but the view of downtown was nice from...
Read moreLocation- 5/5 this was fantastic! Not far from a bus stop and short drive to get downtown.
Directions/checkin- 4/5 there were clear but there were a lot of steps.
Parking- 4/5 the parking garage was great! I do think it's ridiculous to pay $13/night on top of the other fees... but it was convenient. I do NOT like that this was yet another hidden fee AFTER you had booked the reservation. (the parking on the street in front is cheap & safe)
Pet fees- 3/5 they do not tell you there is an additional fee on their website.. they get the money AFTER you have already booked the reservation & cannot cancel.
During the stay- 1/5 there were 2 incidents that would keep me from recommending or going back to stay with Kasa. The first incident happened when a seemingly random man knocked on the door for a "work order." This man had paperwork, however, I did not let him in. I called Kasa and they failed to inform me that someone would be coming to make a repair during my stay. I feel this situation could've been handled better, as a female traveler. The second incident was a "noise alert" that text me threatening to throw me out of the apartment AND charge a $500 fee. This occurrence happened while I was trying to enjoy my vacation but I had to sneak away to talk with Kasa... who ultimately told me there were decibel detectors in the apartment that had sent the alert. When I informed them that I had my own camera setup AND it did not have any alerts... it was magically an "accident." Not only do I think the decibel detector is a scam.. I think Kasa is getting extra money from people for phony "noise alerts."
Overall, it was a nice apartment with good amenities... but I do not think I would book again with all of the extra...
