The room is spacious and initially appears clean and modern. The room is less amenable due to the odor of pot in the restroom and some suspicious globs of substance on the wall (not sure what to call them). I told the gentleman on the evening shift the bathroom smelled like pot, and he advised he would make a note for my room so i wouldn't be charged, but it would have been nice if he had provided me a different room or some kind of spray. The smell is very potent, and I strongly dislike the odor of pot (just not for me). There doesn't appear to be any ventilation for the bathroom, so the odor is likely coming from the next room over. l through the wall vent that connects them. I dont think they clean the wall vents frequently as they are coated in thick black... fluff. I dont want to assume that's mold, but with the humidity in the bathroom and lack of ventilation, it's likely a safety/health concern.
Unfortunately, I also noticed that most of the walls are covered in random... gunk? Specifically, in the bathroom. The longer I stay in the room the more I noticed. The bathroom doors have a myriad of spots that aren't mere stains, they are residue blobs of something brown. Likewise, the walls and baseboards in the room are just dirty and stained. The door knobs also have weird brown substances on them. It's all minor on a first look but it's somewhat gross to think about and it makes me wonder to what extent they actually clean these restrooms. Some of the towels have spots on them, which I'm choosing for my sanity to believe are overlooked stains. Given the attendant's aversion to providing response and service for the odor, i didn't complain. Shouldn't really have to argue my case.
The pros: clean sheets/bedding. The floor was clean. The TV works. There are lots of plugs for laptops and other devices. Lots of lights!! The lobby is a fake garden.
This would be a great place to stay if the service by the gentleman on the evening shift was better and if they were more diligent about their cleaning. These are the chief complaints that Baymont should correct. I will not be recommending this hotel to friends or family when they visit.
Photos attached are difficult to see, but they show the filthy bathroom doors, an accumulation of mold like spots on the ceiling, the less than sparkling door knob, and the poorly kept baseboards. This might sound nitpicky, but let's just acknowledge that customers are paying for a room they expect to be clean, and this accumulation of sketchy fluids and the odor do not...
Read moreThe hotel is being rebranded and I can tell it is making an effort. I stayed in room 109. The three story indoor courtyard, rod iron, sky lights were very impressive. Lots of potential. A lot of beautiful structure.
There were some silver fish insects when I opened my towel, but common for the south and moist areas. Plumbing looks like may have been an issue, judging the ceilings and flooring. The vinyl plank flooring in 109 was lumpy and coming up. The ceilings need some work too. Lots of patch jobs from leaks, uneven paint job, The painters were in a hurry, and the popcorn ceiling seems to be too heavy with paint and is pulling away. It looked like there had been a fire in that room at some point and it had Kilz stop stain over it. There was rust on lighting fixtures and the desk shade had mildew. I believe there was a tripped breaker as well. There isn't any bathroom exhaust fan, thus the rust? Couch light didn't work. The walls were blank, except for a small window covering that was painted. Really too stark. Massive walls, just no decor. The room square footage was incredible. Wow!
The empty dining room area off the lobby, should be utilized for the breakfast. The bags of breakfast by the front door said, please grab and go, not stay for a while.
I opened my curtain of 109 that revealed a closed pool area with a large green cover over it. I am not sure how I would feel with other guests who could walk right up to my window, if it was open to the public. This place could be spectacular! Really!
I felt bad for the desk clerk. He looked exhausted. I think he and his family are running understaffed. He checked me in at 10 pm, he was at the desk every morning. As i was leaving this morning, I placed my key on the desk, and he didn't speak or ask how my stay was. Not a word. But, if the family is stressed, I understand.
It has the space, rooms are big, just attention to detail.
This is a hard area to shine in. 20 years ago, this area was booming and this was a prime spot. The surrounding buildings and motels look very run down, as well as the main artery by it. This place could easily be a shining star if surrounding properties could clean up. These people are trying and I appreciate the spirit and hope I sense here....
Read moreStayed here w my husband for a couple weeks while they were working here, first of all I will say this is a Super clean place to stay, housekeeping comes every other day, outside is also very clean, they are outside every day making sure .But,the downside is No Laundry,Pool is not working nor are they trying to fix it its just got some old nasty water at the very bottom,so, theyre not wanting it fixed ,was never anyone there attempting to fix it so it says pool but theres Not one I assumed I could maybe send a letter out at front desk but I couldnt understand what exactly they were saying but assumed No, they werent very helpful or didnt understand when I asked about laundry, they mightve pointed me in direction of laundramat but dont know if they understood that either, the Main thing that was AWFUL and Im 100%sure Im not only one who thought this was it took FOREVER for the elevator doors to ever close! To the point there were 2 women who happened to b walking by one day when i came out of it and said they didnt think it worked and I told them it did it just takes like 2 minutes for the doors to ever shut I hate to gripe about that but I cant hardly take stairs because i have a bad knee but we were on 3rd floor so i had to.....no cigarette ashtrays in front or back before u went in and well, some people smoke ....Anyway, it really was well kept as far as cleanliness though and thats really what matters most our vehicles got broke into one night but so did other peoples at hotels closeby so park ur car in front or in front part of the back because cameras show there, like I said I dont believe that happens alot or just at this place wed heard there had been a string of burglaries at other hotels that weekend,I can say this at least the guy who was working that morning did come out and hated it happened ,was out there when police came which is more than I can say for some other hotels weve been....beware if your vehicle has tinted windows because 4 of the 5 vehicles beside ours were broke into except the one that Didnt have tinted windows, somehow they can get glass out without it making lot of noise and it all shatters but will stay put in one piece because of the tint holding it together is way I was...
