I stayed here while hiking through VT. The place is conveniently located near the Long Trail and also right in town. Awesome grocery store with great beer and wine selection.||The lodge itself is certainly nothing fancy, but what it lacks in this area it is made up by the friendliness of the staff (family owned) and convenience. It was a little dingy, but there was a kitchen downstairs to cook, which saved us money and was fun to use after cooking over a small stove for so long. There were left over ingredients for us to use too!! Laundry was reasonable and we were able to use up to date washing machines. The downstairs (basement) area was dark and carpeted, not something many like in a hang out area. It was musty. ||They let us stay longer in the day because the post office didn't open until 1:30 (!!) and so she told us to just relax and enjoy ourselves!!||If you're going to stay here don't expect the Ritz, but you can expect to be...
Read moreJust spent a weekend up with Grampa Grunts for a buddies bachelor party. We stayed offsite at "The Happening" which easily gets 5/5 stars. The Apt layout slept 8 very comfortably, was outfitted with cable/internet, full kitchen, tv's in everyroom, updated bathroom, laundry, etc (set up like a hostel/dorm but we filled the unit). The owners were as excited for our weekend, if not more, which is always helps to kick things off. The $5 breakfast is not to be missed, though, if you do, they'll point you down the street to bernies which was amazing too. The Lounge was great for catching the Football games while playing darts and pool before scooting up to Jay Peak which was only a short drive away. I live locally and the weekend we just had has more of us wanting to stay in Montgomery more often, with the value that G.Grunts provides it'd be...
Read moreWent with my wife midweek before Valentine's day, they let us use the honeymoon suite that has its own bathroom and waterbed. The daughter of the family took care of us and even got my delivery of flowers and chocolates that I had sent so when we came back from skiing it was on the bed waiting for us, my wife was thrilled. While gramps is no longer running the place, his family has continued the tradition. If you want to stay at a real locally owned legend, this is the place for you. Since we were there midweek it was just us and 4 other skiers, we had the fire place and great conversation. This place while not for everyone is perfect for the serious skiers and riders who love the mountains and the people who make them great. A lot of love is...
