Far beyond my expectations. I'd definitely stay here again.

This motel was awesome. I was really impressed with the room and the grounds were more than amazing. It reminded me of Butchart Gardens in BC Canada. The floral arrangement and plants were almost unbelievable. The staff at this hotel were equally as a amazing. The family who runs this place have gone above and beyond and truly deserve this review. If you're looking for a great place to stay in St Ignace, look no further. There might be larger and more grand rooms than this older hotel has to offer because of it's age, but I highly doubt there's anyplace that puts more care and energy into making their hotel/motel the best it could possibly be for their guests. I've added a few pictures but the photos don't even come close to how bright and colorful everything was. The sun was already settling and there wasn't much light when they were taken, but it should give you an idea of how amazing it was.

It is slightly off the beaten path, but that could be a bonus for anyone looking for a quiet place to get some rest. I'm not saying it's secluded, it's just off the main highway, so maybe I shouldn't even mention it, but if you're looking to walk to town, it's probably not the place for you. There is a nice bar/restaurant next door. Oh, while I'm mentioning that, their food is great and the portions are really big. I'd recommend them too. Their staff...

Quaint neat comfortable accomodating friendly retro motel. We usually stay in the chain hotels but due to pricing on the weekend we decided to look into other options like mom and pop motels like this one and or cabins. After much research and reading reviews and price comparisons we chose this and are happy. Ours was $54/night and has 2 bedrooms so how can you not be pleased. Room is simple, acomodating, clean and nicer than a lot of rooms we saw reviews of in Mackinaw City for about a third the price on a summer Saturday night. Room has 2 sinks, one at the mini bar and one in bathroom. We ran into another aquaintance from our Life Leadership business down state here too. Parking is extremely convenient as you park right in front of your door with plenty of room between you and the next car. Room has mini fridge microwave and flat screen TV on mini bar. I went next door to grab some food at Timmy Lee's Pub which had other families eating dinner at 1pm which is very convenient too. Here is a bike/walking path in front of Inn by the road. We would stay again. Nice personal touch here like you are a guest. Very close to Mackinaw Bridge, St ignace and...

How did I not know about this delightful motel sooner?!? I was searching for places to stay in St. Ignace, but didn’t want to break the bank. I came across reviews for this place, and was pleasantly surprised at how many positive comments I read. After considering all of our options, I decided to take a chance and book two nights here. I can happily say we had no regrets!! The room had everything we needed, and Theresa was wonderful when we checked in. While the bathroom is a little on the small side, it was sufficient — even the small shower — for my 6’ tall husband and me. There was no breakfast included, but that was fine since we already had a couple places we wanted to go (having stayed in St. Ignace before). We felt safe staying here, and enjoyed the extra special touch of so many beautiful flowers all around the motel! The fact that they were so vibrant and abundant, even in mid-October, amazed me. The Sunset Motel will definitely be our go-to place to stay whenever we are in St....

I can't say enough about Sunset Motel. Despite only being a 5 minute drive from the boardwalk, marina, and gift shops, it feels out of the way and is very quiet. The grounds are the first thing you'll notice, filled with dozens of planters and beds of colorful flowers. There is plenty of outdoor seating and even cornhole available. The rooms look like the interior of a cabin, so cozy and very clean, and come with a keurig, fridge and microwave. Best of all, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. My advice is to ask for their recommendations for local places to eat. We tried almost every suggestion and were blown away each time. They go above and beyond to ensure their guests are comfortable and taken care of.

At first glance you would probably drive right on by this motel in search of one of the big chains - that would be your loss. The owners have done a wonderful job at renovating this old fashioned motel into a hidden gem. The rooms are clean, newly renovated, and well appointed with modern convenience. On the smaller side, they still managed to provide a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a nice sofa to watch TV. Room 6 even has an electric fireplace for those cooler evenings. The owners are friendly and a wealth of knowledge regarding local dining. So I highly recommend you take a chance on the Sunset Motel when traveling through St. Ignace - I think you’ll be pleased.
