Super 8 by Wyndham Mt. Carmel IL — Hotel in Mount Carmel

Very nasty staff. Breakfast is minimal. The room was mostly clean, but the decor was horrid: dirty turquoise and yellow walls and very old dirty carpet. This place is in the middle of nowhere, next to a construction site and a corn field. They should not be charging so much for such a poor service.

Dear Mr. Manager: Thank you for your Response. There were two of us staying in room 227 . This is a room with two beds and an air conditioner that blows right onto the bed, which is sitting 2 inches from it. It is impossible to sleep on this bed when the air conditioner is on. You are so full of yourself, you do not notice women: when I came down for breakfast, there were two meager biscuits left and some very runny gravy with practically no meat in it, just starch. There were no eggs or other stuff you mentioned, because the woman who came down before me took the last bits of it. There was no staff overseeing breKfast. You were busy drying chilies you grow in pots . They were drying on top of the coke machine. There were also people smoking outside on your picknick bench which is close to the building, and I am allergic to smoke. Do I need to say it again: I do not recommend this...

On the positive, room and lobby were clean. Pillows were nice.

For the not so good... They are pumping so much air freshener into the lobby that you can taste it. My concern is that they are trying to cover up a bad smell instead of fixing the source. Breakfast is just small packaged pastries and juice. The water is so soft, it feels like you can't get the soap off in the shower. Service was not friendly. Toilet stopped flushing properly and the owner made us feel like we didn't know how to use a toilet. The comforter if you can call it that is nothing more than a bed sheet with a fancy pattern and the beds are incredibly hard.

My wife requested that the air freshener be turned down because it was making her nauseous but the owner said "No, it's just air freshener....smells good".

Also, there is no elevator so the second floor is not handicap accessible. If your wife is like mine and over-packs, just know you will have to carry that luggage upstairs and back down.

Would not recommend. I will be staying somewhere else on my next trip...

Stayed here for 2 nights on a work trip. Check in was good. Staff was friendly. The lobby and room were clean. The light for the bathroom was outside the bathroom which I had not encountered before, the desk chair was super uncomfortable to sit on and the best thing about the room was the refrigerator which had a separate freezer. I really like that they clean the rooms everyday; however, my bed was poorly made and the trash wasn’t picked up. There was no hot breakfast; just pastries, cereal, coffee, juice, a waffle maker and some apples. The shower had good water pressure and I slept well. Had it not been for the desk chair, the poor turndown service and the breakfast selections; I would have given a five...
