I made my reservation in advance. Red Rose Motel has its own website, but it was impossible to reach them by telephone or by any other means. I was forced to make my reservation, and to pre-pay, through a third party. On their website they posted a phone number, but that number did not work. I tried it repeatedly and kept getting a message telling me to hang up and call something like 611. So it was impossible to find out in advance whether they had a microwave, etc. It turned out they did have a microwave and also, I think, a refrigerator, but I didn't know until I had paid and arrived.||||Elizabethtown is a real town, with square streets and old buildings. But the motel is outside Elizabethtown, in a suburb called Rheems. Rheems is not friendly to pedestrians.||||My room looked like a retired brothel. The tub-shower was fire engine red, exactly like the bathroom in the movie "The Shining." Next to my bed, the entire wall was a mirror!||||The place seems to be completely legit now; I saw no foot traffic in the area and no men slowing their vehicles.||||The manager was nice, but he wasn't using his head. They had lots of vacancies, but he assigned me a room a few feet from a double dumpster. Thus if I opened my door, I smelt rotten trash. And my room had at least one housefly buzzing around inside.||||The room had table space and two chairs. But both chairs were worn out. That is, when I sat in them, I sank so low that I could not comfortably work or eat at the table. One of the chairs had once been a rotating office chair, where you can raise and lower the seat, but this feature no longer worked. I asked the manager if it was possible to raise the seat on it and he said no. I asked if there was any chair that was higher and he said no. But he...
Read moreI very rarely give 5 stars to anything. It seems weird to give it to this motel, but you must absolutely be aware of what you're getting and paying for, sand then yes, 5 stars apply.||||We booked this hotel rather last-minute for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend. We had other hotels reserved that would have cost between $500 and $400 for 2 nights, but we cancelled them when we got the Red Rose reservation at about $87 a night.||||This is a bargain, no-frills motel. No pool or breakfast, no lobby or sitting area, etc. The room was dated and worn, but clean. The bed was comfortable, there were two chairs and a table, 2 beds, TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Oh yeah, and a fly swatter.||||The walls were thin and we easily heard the kids next door to us, but luckily they were young and bedtime came early. We spoke with our neighbors when they went out for a cigarette and they seemed like a pleasant family. Sitting outside your room with the provided lawn chairs was enjoyable.||||We saw rabbits just about every day. And honestly, the biggest reason I booked it after the price was that you can walk through a fence to get to Burger King.||||I was a bit nervous, but in the end I decided I would return to this motel. It's not a 5-star place, maybe not even a 3-star place. But, if you're not a lodging snob it can be an entertaining and affordable spot.||||The room did smell a bit, and our bed was made pretty hap-hazardly the next day, but again, it's about what I would expect for the price. My wife, kids, and I had no complaints...

I swear to all that is holy under the sheets they must have hidden a slab of stone. In all my years of traveling i never laid on a bed that had ABSOLUTELY no give. Both nights i woke up multiple times in pain in my back and shoulders. me and Tylenol became good friends.|| WIFI worked well and the AC unit was a treat.. good and cold.||Location is good for overnight as there is a burger king next door.. Sal's Italian restaurant across the street ( which was delicious) and a turkey hill for cold drinks and snacks.||It was my last choice as everything was booked in that area. || I cant recommend it due to the obvious mould and stink and beds.||Next time ill sleep in the SUV and shower at...
