Be prepared to feel like you are in the Seinfeld “Soup” episode.

The check in process for all four families participating in a four-year-olds birthday party was terrible. RUDE kiosk staff treated all in the same manner. If the staff is so overwhelmed when the campground was virtually empty they need to close down by Labor Day and not be open into October.

Making a “reservation” here for a specific site is meaningless unless you pay an ADDITIONAL fee to assure your requested site. We were told our requested site was not possible due to bathroom renovation, which we did not require.

This opened the door for more issues with staff. We had chosen a site which allows 12 campers originally and somehow this fact was ignored when we had to move to another site. Parking here in the campground is a major problem. Each car will need to pay an additional fee and cannot park on the site. Tack on 4O dollars for parking.

We clearly had a travel trailer but the site we ended up with was a tent site and meant it was not level unless you parked on the dirt. How would we know this until we got to the site? Kiosk person apparently could not be bothered to point this out. Parking on the dirt is apparently the crime of the century as two different security guards came to essentially harass us over this and other parking issues. We complied and moved all the cars as requested.

Our daughter has a 50 dollar season pass but apparently that does not count for entering unless you are going to the beach. News to us as we have all had passes and have used them to come to the grill for dinner in the past, to the beach and to visit other campers.

Inconsistency is the name of the game here. We have been waved in by staff for free when we have come to have dinner or a frostie. You just never know how you’ll be treated but this camping trip we were treated like criminals.

Security showed up twice likely sent by the rude kiosk woman. We were camping way in the 200s site section, about as distant as possible from the beach and camp amenities. Our original request was closer to all for the convenience of all our attendees.

In the morning we brought cars to the site, from the approved parking locations to load up and be checked out in time. This time we were told we could be charged a 1500 dollar fine! With all the nickle and dime charges you have to assume the place is going under financially.

Clearly from the decorations we were celebrating a child’s birthday, but that did not matter to the security staff who barged in early in the morning to complain and threaten us with a fine.

As local business owners we have in the past recommended the Lake, and grill as a fun adventure for our guests. Imagine the impression out of town guests would leave with when locals are treated so rudely. The kiosk woman is on some kind of power trip immediately assuming the worst of campers checking in. She needs to be reassigned behind the scenes.

We have always had great, friendly and accommodating customer service from grill and store employees. One has to assume that there is a different manager for security and kiosk staff. The first point of contact should be your best employee not your worst.

Do yourself a favor and camp elsewhere. Look at Yelp and Google reviews. Our experience is apparently the norm not the exception. So sad because it is a...

This place looks great on paper: beautiful piece of property located in the shadows of Mt. Shasta, clear lake with a beach, campsites in the forest, centrally located general store that sells ice and firewood (and ice cream cones), like, what's not to like?? Well, I'll tell ya. The problem with this place is that they don't enforce their own rules. One rule is that there are no pop-up shades allowed right at the edge of the water so they don't block people from going into/out of the lake. This was completely ignored, and there entire waterfront on the beach was occupied by pop-up after pop-up after pop-up, forcing people to pick a spot to try and get out of the water without "trespassing" through other people's shade structure. The rule was there, completely ignored and not enforced. Another rule: no smoking or drinking glass bottles on the beach. Ignored. No one wants their 4 year old to slice their foot open because of broken glass beer bottles. Quiet time begins at 10pm. This seems to be when the party starts, however, as the entire campground gets louder and louder as the night goes on. We had a group of people roll into the campsite next to us at 9pm, and proceeded to play loud music well past midnight as they set up their campsite. They had at least 8 adults and more than 15 kids in the smallest campsite available, another rule that didn't seem to be enforced. Once the weekend came, the busses rolled in and school and church groups arrived. There were groups of kids who literally walked through the campground after dark, screaming like they were getting murdered in a horror movie. Security consisted of 1 guy in 1 truck who seemed to patrol mostly in the daytime to see if people left out food. Oh, that's another thing. There are no bear-proof food lockers at the campsites so all of your food has to be stored in your vehicle. So every time you come and go from your campsite you have to pack and unpack your food back into/out of your vehicle. this was a huge p.i.t.a. when you have a weeks worth of food. The campsites on our area of the campground were located on a hillside and none of the campsites were leveled for tents. Meaning, everyone was sleeping and eating on a slope. Really annoying when things constantly rolled off the picnic table. This place needs to rent a skid-steer loader in the off season and level some areas of each campground for tents and eating/picnic table areas. The good things was that there is running water, though 1 of the 2 sinks in our particular bathroom was broken, and they were kept clean for the most part, but seemed to go downhill quickly on Thursday when all the groups started showing up. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed to be and the ability to buy ice and firewood on-site is pretty sweet, and their prices for those things was very reasonable considering. We will not be going back to this campground until they start enforcing their own rules. Not everyone wants to hear mariachi music blasted from the next campground...

Definitely go! It's a really wonderful campground and there's a lot to do for a campground. We unfortunately didn't get to try any food at the beach snack shack because they weren't serving food that day. We were really hungry and planned to eat at the beach that day so that was a big bummer for us. The splash zone is interesting. There are several areas that I would suggest kids don't go into. Even some adults had to yell help and get pulled out by several other adults because there are no nets. And the inner tubes that create splash zone are very large. So getting out from over those tubes when you're in the middle of the lake is comical and the hardest thing ever. But if you can pull yourself up on this thing, it's a great time. They have an ice cream shop and really cool cone flavors, the waffle cones are huge and they come with a bunch of custom flavors. You can rent DVDs, a handful of them, at the general store. We had a bad experience with the customer service of one girl the moment we arrived and ordered a pizza at the Lake Sis Grill, but it was refunded and several other employees made up for her behavior and there wasn't an issue for the rest of the trip. The cabins were nice. We were in L23, and it was not old or run down. But I will say the cleaners don't really clean, they just put new stuff out for the next people. Don't look under the bed, you'll know that they haven't cleaned in over 6 months. Don't look under any furniture LOL. Also if you have L23, sit on that couch and tell me that you have seen anything like that in your life! The springs coming out of those cushions were comical. I've never seen anything like it. You can't really sit on the couch because of the springs coming out of the cushions, so it was hard to enjoy the living area or watch DVDs from the TV in the living area. But we made do. I also for some reason was under the impression that there was a barbecue at the cabins so we brought a lot of food that we had to cook for a long time over the little tiny fireplace that they provide. So heads up if you want to cook a tri-tip or chicken or anything you have to do it over the fireplace. I like the porch for the cabins. It's a great place to drink coffee. The arcade is 90% claw machines that don't work and you do have to buy one of those plastic cards to use them and the claw machines are 10 to 14 credits and it's $5 for 20 credits so.... But I will say we loved the air hockey! It's an old school air hockey table and it's really big and although the electronics on it don't work and you can't tell what the score is, it was really fun.

The one negative complaint other than the customer service, was the fact that there was no RV spots listed near the cabins, but there was an RV park directly in front of l23, and it blocked our entire view of the lake. We thought we were getting a Lakeview because that's what the picture showed us and the map. But we got to look inside of somebody's RV the whole time. We were very...
