When I arrived at this Motel and went in the office I asked their rates, the Indian lady behind the counter told me $64 plus tax standing there with my wallet in my hand I grabbed my cell phone and keys off the counter and told her I'd probably be back as I walked toward the door she hurried and told me she'd take $60 plus tax I agreed to that, paid and got my room key went to the room only to find out that it was originally $60 plus tax I felt that this lady tried to take me for more money seeing that I was there with my wallet in hand and wanted to get a room regardless of what she said. I paid for 1 night with check out the next day at 11a.m. at 9:30 the next morning I left the room to go to the store to buy a few personal hygiene items to take a shower only to come back to the Indian lady and a white lady look to be hired help had my door open to my room and was in side once the lady that appeared to be the owner noticed I was pulling back in they hurried and rushed out I asked if I still have the room till 11 as it was only 10 she said yes and apologized I asked if it was alright if I can still take a shower and they said yes they had already started cleaning the rooms. I took a shower and looked around the room to see if I had left anything sure enough I had bought some food, a bag of chips and I noticed they were gone the chips were opened but still a full bag I was certain that they had thrown them away when I came out of the room from taking my shower I asked the owner if I had left anything she had said no I mentioned my chips and she said that she'd asked the housekeeper and which when the housekeeper came up to where we were standing I mentioned the chips certainly knowing that they had thrown them away to only find out that the housekeeper had taken the chips and put them in her car to take them with her I told them I do not want the chips anymore but I felt that I should be compensated for them going into the room and removing my items before checkout the housekeeper searched in her pocket and got the money and gave me the money not only did I feel the Indian lady tried to persuade me to pay more money dishonestly also they went into the room before my check out time was over. I would not recommend this Motel to anyone although it did appear to be clean the customer service in my experience...
Read moreRoom was clean and smelled good. Hotel was fairly quiet. All one-story so I was able to park in front of my room. However, I was very disappointed because of my experience with the owner. I travel often through the area transporting pets and I thought I found a different pet-friendly hotel to stay at. USA Inn charges a fee of $10 per pet. My recommendation, if you are traveling with pets, for the price, is to stay at Motel 6 in Joplin Missouri, about 40 miles from Mount Vernon where pets, are of course, free. However, Motel 6 is noisy and a two-story motel, so parking in front of the room is not always available and the parking lot does not seem safe. USA Inn also still has carpet instead of the hard floors. My experience with the owner: When I was leaving, the owner was outside my room and approached me. She yelled at me and accused me of lying about the number of dogs I had in the room. She demanded I give her $30, and threatened to charge the credit card I used at check-in $30 if I didn't. I paid a $10 pet fee already so I went to the office and she charged my card $20. I told her the larger dogs with me stayed in the car. (The parking lot looked safe to leave their crate in the car and it wasn't too hot or too cold.) She told me she came by earlier and looked through my car. (I find it disturbing that she looked through my car.) I don't mind paying for extra pets I have in the room, but I don't like being yelled at and called a lier in the parking lot. Also, she did not wear a facemask, so it makes me wonder if they are cleaning for covid-19. I prefer to support locally owned hotels over corporate owned, but I expect to be treated decently...
Read moreUnfortunately, on the day that I visited this establishment, they were allegedly sold out of rooms. Hence my rating of three stars as opposed to four or five. Additionally, I can't really speak to the quality of rooms, of course, because I never saw one because I was never in one. But, from the pictures you'll see that I uploaded in the photo area, the exterior of this establishment and the interior of the lobby were quite immaculate! These parts of the place was great!
If the exterior and interior of the lobby were as clean as they were, I can only imagine that the rooms might have been similar. I didn't get a chance to see one. I visited this motel on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. I distinctly remember this day because at that time, I was traveling west to a new city and state on the west coast, and stopped there around 9:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. because I had gotten tired from driving the previous night.
When I called the woman from the lobby phone, she explained that they were sold out and that there were no additional rooms available. I couldn't believe it! She was very pleasant, though. I can certainly say that she did a great job in relaying the information of additional locations. And as fate would have it, the other two recommendations she gave me were also sold out!
In any case, I eventually found a room at another place some many miles away from there. I can't really recommend one way or the other if you should stay here because I never saw a room. But, if you could make that decision based on the exterior of the place, then I'd say this would be a...
