Not a place I've been to but a handful of times since moving to Mt. Vernon MO in 1991. Obviously with this as a truck stop it's busy. A number of non-truckers stop here 'passing through.' Just that alone limits as to why or where a trucker or regular motorist stops here. Typically staff, or what there might be on a random day, aren't that personal or really care about their job. That is definitely the appearance. Which explains why I, as a local resident, only stop here because my other options are closed, or I might need kerosene. Otherwise, I avoid this place. Other travelers have not much choice. So, the possibility of a traveler or trucker just having a "fair experience" probably won't happen. This place needs major upgrades not only externally ( where truckers park ) there are huge tire ruts. Inside is very dated. The bathroom's, haven't been back to since 1991. They were disgusting then. Rumor says the bathroom's are slightly better currently. It's a truck stop for Pete's sake. I suppose they aren't supposed to be inviting. The owners, who are also residents of Mt. Vernon, seem to be more interested in the dollar than anything else. That's fine to an extent. Work attitudes might be different if owners attitudes led by better examples. You're only as good as your leadership. If management can't do everything they possibly can and then some, perhaps they should turn the keys over to...
Read moreNote to JoJo who posted 7 months ago: Ryan was hitting on you. Ryan believes, that on the weekend, he is the 'manager'. He also believes that he is Barney Fife too. Large and in-charge of the Reserve Parking System. He loves waking drivers up: Even AFTER the driver has paid for the parking space. Ryan apparently is 'technology impared' as well and doesn't know how to use any of it. Although... He does know how call your company owner, make false statements, then lie some more when this error is pointed out to him. Ryan is the walking, living, breathing poster child of "Missouri Mouth-Breathing Ignoramous". A sad example of The Peter Principle: rising to his own level of incompetence. So sad. Emptying trash cans, mopping floors, and picking up trash in the parking lot is too far a stretch for him to actually complete the tasks properly. How do you demote someone for incompetence who holds the most basic entry level job to begin with? It's sad enough Ryan doesn't know this ABC's and 1,2,3's... Doesn't know how to use a computer or clipboard and has no clue about common sense... I feel sorry for him really. There is no 'moving up' for him. Although, this place would be much improved if they fired him and sent him packing. How many customers might return if they knew that the sole source of bad customer service is gone? I won't be back...
Read moreI’ve waited to see if TA Travel Center customer care office was gonna call me back. It’s been a week and at this point, I’m about burned out! Guess I should’ve never expected them to contact me about an issue this small any how! Well it’s my money and I expect to get treated fair any and everywhere I go! Especially regarding trucking. But anyway, I had to go back to Iowa80 truck stop where I purchased my light to get another one. This time I decided to go somewhere different to get my lights installed. So I took a trip out west to Salt Lake City, Utah! I did a 34 hr-reset at the flying j off exit 17. I ran into a guy who has his own business next to the flying j. His name is Shawn Gilbert(Uinta Diesel) TA in Mt. Vernon, Missouri charged me a little over $200 to install my fogs lights. Their installment resulted in me losing my passenger-side fog light due to poor work performance! No lock nuts were installed on the backside of my bolts when they installed my fog lights. However, Shawn charged me $40 to install my lights correctly and he also made sure my electricals were ran right! When you’re ever in the Utah area look him up! I left a pic of his card below! He is...
