"ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! OUR GUESTS' SAFETY AND SECURITY ALWAYS COMES FIRST! ||Any dog who growls at me (or any guest) when I talk to the owner will not be allowed on the property."||Copied from the owner in response to someone's review on Apr 5, 2022||||We just had a two night stay in this inn resort, we arrived around 7 PM on Friday night, and walked towards to the pool area to checkout the property. We were immediately "welcomed" by owner's unleashed dog running towards us and followed by barking at us in about 5 feet. A moment later, the owner approached us and told us the dog is friendly and we started some conversation. Suddenly, the dog went to search my wife (who is scared of the dog) in front of the owner, my wife turned around to avoid the dog. Then, the dog got excited and chased after my wife, eventually left a small bite on my wife's leg and a few holes on her pants (thanks god, we haven't changed our clothes yet in the pool area). It was shocking to see the dog attacking in front of the owner, but the owner's response is "you should not behave you are scared of dog, since you turned around and that caused the dog to chase and bit you". "I feel so sorry for the accident, how can I compensate you for your damage to make you feel better"? I told the owner we can discuss the compensation later, but please leash your dog and he agreed to give us this special privilege of leashing his dog when we were present.||||During our whole stay, the owner spent most of his time staying at the pool area with his dog. Instead of leashing the dog with rope/chain, he only set the harness on the dog and try to keep the dog closer to him. The second day, the dog didn't notice us much and things seemed to be better. On Sunday after we checked out at 11AM, we still planed to use the spa and swimming pool area for some more hours, therefore, we meet the owner at the pool area after checkout and ask permission to stay after checkout. Meanwhile, I tried to discuss about the compensation for the damage from dog bite, the owner replied to me not to worry about the day use charge after checkout, since your room is fully paid off immediately after you checked-in and I will give you the privilege to stay after checkout as a compensation for the accident. I was not aware we had to pay for the extended day time use of pool after checkout (like many other resorts). Anyway, I just want to make it delightful stay, so I don't bother to discuss any more. (Question: if the owner really want to compensate us for the dog bite, on the first day when charging us the full amount, how can he know he will waive our extended stay fee as compensation? What If we don't come to meet him at the pool after checkout, will he still talk about compensation with us?)||||Before we finished our stay, the worst part came. For the whole afternoon in the pool area, we are quite far away from the owner and his dog. Around 4PM, the owner decide to bring the dog into the swimming pool to play with (isn't the swimming pool for human use only?) My wife was laying back reading on the pool chair and I was away from my chair for a moment. Suddenly, the dog jumped out of the water and started to growl at my wife again and approaching her. Just having the bad experience, she was for sure scared of that dog, so she felt panic and tried to back off. The unleashed dog was only a a couple of feet away from her before stopped by the owner. Immediately, the owner began to teach my wife and said it was her fault of wrong reaction which made his dog aggressive, she should behave better to ignore the dog's growl. My wife was trying to defend for herself, but the owner started to point finger towards her and kept saying it's her fault. My wife was complaining to the owner for not being nice to customers and the dog should be leashed in public areas specially if the dog already had attacked her before. Then, the owner got annoyed and said he never leashed his dog on his property and no accident so far, the whole thing is just because of my wife's misbehavior. My wife also got angry and said she would record his word if the owner insisted this. Finally, the owner got really pissed off and told us that we were not welcomed and should left immediately. He stated he listed all his dog info on the website that this place was a dog friendly resort (someone else tried to explain to me dog friendly means no leash required). After calm down from both party, we stayed around 6 and left the property with relief.||||The above statement is my honest view based on total facts. Here are the things I thought can be improved from our stay experience.||1. Dogs should be leashed in business property specially in pool area and with previous aggressive behavior.||2. Dog owner should only control your dog, not other customers (specially customer always try to avoid the dogs)||3. Dogs should not be placed in swimming pool for the business purpose or other furnitures designed for human use since dogs can spread diseases.||4. The charge of extended stay after checkout in the property should be indicated on the website. (It is important to 1 night stay custom who can only use the facility after 4PM check-in and until 11AM check-out next morning)||5. If you promise to compensate your customer to fix the dog bite issue, really mean it not by just promise.||||During our whole stay, we are very disciplined and followed all your rules. But I have to say this is our worst resort...
Read moreMy wife and I spent a few days at Meadowlark Resort and fell in love with both the place and the people. Kurt is a warm and lovely soul, and we felt an immediate connection with him. Maria is so kind and provided a delicious breakfast each morning on a veranda with a beautiful view of the countryside and mountains surrounding the property.||The pool and jacuzzi are perfect and immaculately clean, filled with natural mineral water that feels wonderful and has no chemical smell. We have been married for 37 years, and this was the best getaway we have ever had. The reason Kurt’s resort has hundreds of 5-star reviews is because it truly is a 5-star experience.|The pool and hot tub area are clothing-optional. Everyone we met was kind and nonjudgmental and couldn’t have cared less who was nude or not. We are dog people, and the pups we met were so happy and friendly—they never caused a problem for anyone at the pool. We also both got a massage from Tony and the best massage we have ever had. ||As a senior couple, I highly recommend a few days at Meadowlark for fellow senior couples who are open-minded to new ideas and looking for a new adventure and a chance to meet some really cool people. ||As a note, I read some of the very few negative reviews guests had written. I think you can throw most of them out the window. They seem to come from people who find a reason to complain about anything, no matter how great the experience was. Nothing is perfect or always goes according to plan, no matter where you stay.|If dogs you have met in life tend not to like you, then do not go to a place that accepts our wonderful four-legged companions and then complain about it in a review—ridiculous. If you tend to be cloistered, perhaps visit a monastery rather than a clothing-optional resort and then publicly complain about nudity at a clothing optional resort.||For the best experience, unplug for a few days, relax, let your hair down, don’t overthink things, and simply enjoy the healing and tranquility of the beautiful grounds, plants, animals, and more. The rooms are also splendid, and we had plenty of privacy. We sat out on our wonderful pond patio and saw many...
Read moreDecided on a last minute getaway and the guys are responsive, accommodating and treat everyone like family. Stayed here in an off weekend in February, but the treatment, attention to detail and experience was just as if it were the height of summer. Owners, Kurt and Richard, are constantly making upgrades and adding little touches all over the property and rooms. We stayed in Suite 4, with a private balcony and ridiculously soft bed (multiple pillow options.)The rooms had anything you'd need: robes, wine glasses/opener, fresh linens, chocolates and all the amenities you'd find in a hotel. The jetted tub was nice too.
The owners house is on property, away from the main Inn, but they are available and attentive as needed. While it was a less busy time of winter, the grounds were still lively with budding trees, flowers, roaming chickens and stabled horses.
The pool, hot tub, and sauna areas are very well maintained. You're surrounded by multiple lounge areas and gardens. You can be as social or have as much "me-time" as you want. Like everyone else has mentioned, the area is co-ed and clothing optional but very chill and respectful. We loved the open-minded and care-free vibe of the whole ranch.
It's not a hippy compound, or gay, or straight. It's a place for adults who know how to be adults. I think it's the perfect reset for couples, celebrating a special occasion or someone just looking for some quiet time away.
In the world of questionable AirBnB's and lack-luster Boutique hotels around Napa and Calistoga, Meadowlark stands out going...
