We had stayed in th6 back in March for one night & decided we loved the peacefulness & view we should book again. This time around we book 5 nights in th1, just because we noticed the treehouses not on ground like this one had very very narrow stairs. So we get to our treehouse & mind you i had paid close to 1k for 5 nights thinking adviced would be cheaper to find out it was $300 difference if i had booked close to date... & the agent offered me a return stay discount prior to all that happened next... with that already over my head I was just trying to get through our stay. So we arrived around 5pm, 2 kids one infant. By the time we unpacked and got settled it was time to sleep. I noticed the TV not working. The lamp didn't work, the ceiling fan didn't either. The sheets smelled and had blood stains. I did email the management which was pretty late... we just went to sleep. I had to lay out an extra sheet for my infant. So morning comes my husband was awaken bright and early not sure who it was. He thinks it was housekeeping. And he wasnt aware of the blood stains so he told her we only needed help with tv and fan. So couple hours pass maintenance Arthur shows up as we are trying to fully awake due to an infant we get rarely sleep and he fixes the TV but told us the fan would be an 1 or so. My husband said its okay. As we are trying to enjoy our stay and leave. After he leaves I show my husband the blood stains and found more blood stains on the pillows. We had to switch out bedsheets with upstairs and not use the pillows with blood. There was blood on the walls and mirror of the hall way. Then my husband gets hit by the shower head, which the handle was broken. I was gonna call but my husband said no he wants to enjoy the stay we paid for and this should've been taken care of before we arrived. During all this we was interrupted by a knock at our door from a lady looking for Anna or amber. She said an owner. And she carried on an conversation, not to be rude but that shouldn't have happened. She peaked through our window. So that was something to add to this already not so pleasant stay. So we tired to make the best of our stay. The BBQ pit it on the drive way not on the balcony which wasnt much fun to have my husband standing out in the front while the family is in the back... I believe th5 is the same way. The lake is across from us so we have to walk and to find there's only a small space to share with 12 other families. We just didn't bother. Didn't like the cleaning fee as we have to wash our dishes and throw out our own trash leaving housekeeping to do sheets and organize and they failed that miserably. Other then all this our view was nice and we had visiting different places. Would I return? Probably not, especially for the price I paid. No complaints over the maintenance man he did the best he could but just wasn't far we had to give up our time when it should've been taken care of before we arrived.
*After receiving a comment from Owner to my VERY DETAILED review. I received an email. For them to rudely tell me I should've given up one of my days My paid days for them to fix the issues. Absolutely NOT! & for this person who said was Management to tell me they can't give any sort of reimbursement for our stay but can offer a return discount... I DIDN'T ASK FOR ANYTHING. Such rudeness. I rather spend my money elsewhere. I was already given a discount prior to being over charged. Mind you my stay at th6 was great. Thinking maybe try th6 again for a bigger stay. Even after th1 was horrible. But...
Read moreMy sisters and I booked the Mockingbird Lodge for a much needed sister weekend. There were only three of us total but this says it can accomodate 8 people. Don't come expecting to have what you need for 8 people. We didn't have any regular spoons and the kitchen is not fully stocked as stated. Zero ice trays as well so we had to make ice in a plastic container we happen to have brought with us. The deck was horrible other than the shade the trees did provide. No umbrella whatsoever and the lights around the railing are old and I mean, old, Christmas lights that didn't even work. We would have enjoyed the ambiance of some nice hanging edison lights. The deck was covered with leaves and twigs and the chairs had to be cleaned before we could even sit in them. There was a spoonful of rice, or what looked like rice, in one of the chairs as well so that clearly told us the cleaning crew didn't even bother doing anything out there. The grill is so rusted, it was a miracle it didn't fall apart when we used it. The railings had spider webs and vines all over it and the big tree closest to the place, was pushing so hard on the railing it made a sound, very distracting and nerve racking as we just prayed it didn't come crashing down. Not to mention the wood on the eaves of the place are off in places in the back. This place is very old inside and out and needs a lot of TLC. For the fact that we paid over $300 per night for such an outdated place was disappointing to say the least. The curtains don't fit the windows and some windows have zero coverings, no blinds on any windows and no curtains on some either. The door where the locks are were filthy and I do mean filthy. For them to say they are taking extra precautions during Covid 19 is not a true statement. The only plus is the A/C did work well but not sure how well it would work if it were mid Summer. The floors didn't appear to have been swept or mopped in a while after looking at the bottom of my white socks. The pictures definitely are misleading and may have been taken many years ago or else photo shopped. A very disappointed stay to say the least. We left the venue in better shape than when we arrived for sure. This is NOT and I repeat, NOT a treehouse. Its a building on stilts that happens to have lots of trees around it. They were truthful about the spiral staircase but that was the least of our worries, even though there are areas of that where they may want to check it for safety. We did hang some hand towels on the places where a head could be hit. Refrigerator is tiny and will not accomodate a family of 8. It was packed with just the things we brought for 3 people. My sisters and I always make the best of any situation but this has to have been the worst sister weekend as far as accomodations go, that we have ever been to and we do this twice a year at least. I would say go...
Read moreWe had a great long weekend stay at the River Rd. Treehouses. The area is quaint and secluded in a shaded, wooden area under trees. Parking is along the street side directly across from the tree houses, there is no designated parking lot with spaces. To get to each treehouse you have to cross a bridge that is situated over a dry creek- so loading and unloading our belongings took a couple of trips to and from the car. We stayed in Whippoorwill Haus and were happy with the space- we had more than enough room for my husband and I and our two dogs. The house seemed clean upon arrival. The only complaint I have is that I found a bunch of women's clothing and makeup in a bedroom drawer that seemed to have been left behind- so not sure how thorough of a cleaning job they did.
There is a loft with two beds that we only went up to once, just to view. The spiral staircase is narrow and somewhat difficult to go up- I wouldn't suggest bringing any bags or suitcases up there. Otherwise we stayed on the first floor of our cabin the whole weekend. The couches were a bit outdated but comfortable. The kitchen is small and has an electric stove. The kitchen utensils they supplied were at a bare minimum and cheap, but it did the job. I suggest bringing disposable utensils and plates. Also, if you plan on making any special meals- you need to bring your own seasonings, special pans, oil, etc. The kitchen is stocked with a minimum amount of dishes, utensils, and pots/pans- this is not like an air bnb- there was no leftover soap or cooking oil in the pantries. No shampoo or other bathroom toiletries, so be prepared to bring everything with you, including paper towels, FYI.
We came with a group of friends and so we were able to share the common outdoor patio between our tree house and Morning Dove. There is a charcoal grill located outside of each house which we used every night for dinner. The grill was pretty dirty so bring cleaning supplies. The outdoor shared patio space has 2 large tables which were perfect for our large group. We loved sitting outside in the evenings to watch all the deer.
The Guadalupe River access for tubing is across the street and about a 5 minute walk. It is not private as there are other houses and rentals along that location of the river. We went in August and the river level was pretty low so make sure you check the level before your stay if you're definitely interested in tubing.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It was a great, local Texas escape during covid times. We loved that the tree houses are dog friendly and I highly recommend staying here if you are with a big...
