Raintree Inn — Hotel in New Castle

The room was not clean. The toilet hadn't been cleaned. There was no hot water and the maintenance person wasn't available. I called the front desk person (she wasn't actually at the desk), and she came to my room to look at the toilet. Then she said she could bring me the supplies to clean it. Well, I'm not going to do housekeeping's job, especially if I don't have any hot water to wash my hands afterward. She also said that they had been having problems with the hot water for some time. I'm not blaming her for the hot water. I'm blaming ownership for knowing it was a problem, not doing anything to fix it, and leaving her out there flapping to explain to guests who want a hot shower that they can't have it. Then, after 10 at night, some random dude in his maybe early 20s was knocking on people's doors, mine included, asking is the front desk lady was in my room. Then if I had a lighter. We have been here 4 days out of 5 in Sept. The first room we had was a nightmare! But a call to the front desk and they switched us to a great clean nice smelling room down the hall. We really like it here and hope to extend our stay. The Rain tree is remodeling so some amenities are not available like the pool is closed and it's not a big breakfast in the morning. Many rooms are closed and being worked on. But we have had a nice stay. The lady at the front desk was so wonderful she helped us when we were in a very desperate situation to get us cheap room. New Castle Indiana. This place is decent for people who need a quick getaway from Thanksgiving failures. No, really. It's not bad at all. The pool is closed and the bar is hiring bartenders. A lot of potential here. It's safe. Take a look at the second floor if you can access it. Clean rooms. The lady at the front desk was exceptional at accommodating our needs. Quick, cheap, in and out. I'd stay to myself and try to stay as close to front desk as possible. Unfortunately the building, structurally, is unstable. But hey, free wifi, clean linings.
