We just came back from a long weekend of camping at Ames Brook Campground and thought it was a lovely place. First of all we went during a Wednesday - Sunday and the first few weekdays the campground was very quiet with a lot of availability. Things picked up during the weekend and there was even a planned corn hole tournament which my husband LOVED! Our site was #39, the perfect location if you like being in the shade and near a little brook. It was level, clean and well taken care off. The rest of the campground was a mix of seasonal and transient sites. All the sites varied in sizes with some being very large and accommodating of a huge rig. The owners were very welcoming and very easy to talk to. The pool is on the small side but immaculate and perfect to cool off in. Lots of sun in the pool area so if you want a shady spot to sit go early and grab one. The public restrooms were in great shape, clean and included free showers. The location of this campground is awesome, it's right next to the NH Lakes region but also a short drive up to the White Mountains. Locally there is a Common Man restaurant and an amazing Mexican I would highly recommend, La Catrina, amazing mole if anyone likes that!! We took a drive across the Kancamangus Highway over to North Conway and back one day and had the best time. Great for family fun, relaxing and getting to know other campers. We would definitely go back again!!!

Glorified trailer park at best!!! We were not even There for 5 minutes before the owners came down and told us that are two sons could not dig in the dirt with their spoons on the site. There year-round campers watch every move you make from the hill Karma is set up more like a trailer park versus a campground, the store is grossly overpriced, and although your children can't play everyone's dogs can come and urinate and take a dump on your site. The "waterfront sites" are a steep overhang overlooking stagnate mosquito infested water. My family and I go camping several times a season, and I convinced them to try a new area this time. And we deeply regretted it. It was the only time I have ever came to my life and did not feel relaxed a single solitary moment that we were there. God forbid if you stay past Sunday because then the owners and groundskeepers are coming around with leaf blowers first thing in the morning and for the rest of the day blowing around sand to level out the campsites oh, I'm not exactly sure why you would be using leaf blowers for this! However, it was our absolute worst experience ever. We will definitely not be coming back.

Great campground. We had one of the deluxe sites. The picture is a 32ft trailer behind a Tundra. There was still 10ft behind us. The fire pit overlooked the babbling brook. Between the sites was enough of a berm to provide isolation from the neighbors. The only sounds came from the entrance to the site. There were a few times of noise from other sites enjoying themselves. Simply going to the back of our site was enough to quiet things down. The standard sites are still comfortably sized and most have the brook in back. If the office/store is any example, the rest of the facilities should be clean and updated. The grounds are kept clean. We were there for Columbus Day weekend, a wedding nearby, and some leaf peeping. There's a small grocery store nearby, a few eateries. If camper supplies are necessary, Wal-mart is within reach.

Ok, this will be a difficult review to write...

We've been camping here for years. On the one hand, this is a very nice campground and the new owners have made some good upgrades to the facilities. The owners and staff are friendly and responsive and the campground is very clean. You do, however, need to read their website rate information VERY carefully. First, if you book a stay longer than a week you will be charged for metered electricity. That's on top of the regular site fee. This is confusing because the regular site fee says it includes electricity, but the asterisk at the bottom mentions the metered power clause. In most campgrounds that meter electricity (usually for monthly or yearly stays, not 8 days) you will pay a reduced fee for the site - that doesn't include electricity - plus the metered power fees. In this case, however, if you stay longer than a week you pay the standard site fee PLUS metered electricity. Also unclear on the website: the metered power starts on Day 1 of any week+ stay, not on Day 8. They do give you a small site fee discount - 50% off every 7th night - so that basically covered our electric bill. OTOH, if we had needed more electricity, or stayed 2 days less, the discount wouldn't have covered the cost.

Also note: this campground is using dynamic pricing. In other words, the rates listed on the website are the minimum rates for early bookers. Site prices go up as the campground fills.

SUMMARY: Nice campground and nice people but their website is not very clear about the actual pricing structure. If you choose to stay a week or more in hot or cold weather, where you'll be using more electricity, you might get a hefty electric bill on checkout. If you're booking late, the actual site price may be much higher than what you see on their rates page. It might still be worth a stay, but know what you're signing up for. 5 stars for the campground, minus 2 for the pricing structure, unclear website, and not explaining the fee structure to us when...

We LOVED our stay and can’t wait to return soon! From my first interaction with Judy when making our reservation I just knew this was going to be a great little getaway. Judy was personable, helpful and funny. Once she knew our daughter was coming up for a couple of days with our 7 month old grandson she changed our site to another where she felt would be quieter and better suited for a baby. Now that’s great customer service!

Upon checking in we found the office, store, laundry and small indoor play/lounge area to be super clean and inviting.

Our site was HUGE so we had plenty of room for our RV, a car and a 4 person tent. Our site was perfect just as Judy said it would be.

We met the owners of the campground and had a great conversation. They too were super personable and fun to be around. We met their young son Oliver (maybe 10 or 11) when he delivered our firewood. This is truly a fantastic family run and owned business. Oliver was polite and at such a young age already has a great work ethic. When doing his job he was all business. A true testament to fine parenting. Don’t get me wrong this isn’t child labor lol, he sure did know how to have fun while at the pool!!

Ah... the pool!!! We had a blast playing with our grandson as he slashed around. The pool was clean and there was plenty of seating including tables with umbrellas for shade. We knew the water was clean because each day they took water samples to make sure the water levels were correct.

This place screams Pride of Ownership! There is a small kiddie area with a sand box and swings, a basketball half court, horseshoes and much much more!

We travel a lot in our RV during the summer months, especially in the New England area and we will definitely be repeat campers here!

We can’t wait to return and highly recommend you try it out to... you won’t be...

3 years ago,as we traveled towards New England,we stumbled across this quaint place in Ashland,NH. I viewed it as a tiny town in the midst of wildernnes, the Ames Brook campground. We decided to register as seasonal , bought a new 5th wheel trailer. The place is complete with amenities. I like the laundry room the most, its very clean , so i am comfortable doing my wash. Our site is near the gate entrance,so we can see giant motor homes coming in, especially weekends. It perks the place up. Last year 2020 we were here as Covid was ravaging the nation. My friends wonder why we traveled , i replied its the best place to be, we did not congregate , stayed away from people to be safe. From the window of our trailer we see unique beautiful birds in blue, yellow, orange, red colors, We lounged in our deck, did barbecue, my husband drinks his wine, built fire and watched the bright orange flame in those cool peaceful nights On the left side of the campground towards the bridge, there is a Brook that flows crystal clear water. As heavy rain falls, I can hear it rushing by. Camping here was a very part of our memorable life .If not for the distance 3000 miles from Las Vegas, we might have stayed a bit longer. Our fav. Market Basket is not very far away. We enjoyed fresh seafood, fish , scallops and LOBSTERS!. We highly recommend this campground in Ashland .Dan and his wife Gabby with their 3 handsome boys own this amazing place.Dan is easy to talk to, he is very kind and accommodating. I wish him good fortune and great success with this campground. As the owner he made our camping life very pleasant indeed. To the entire staff , we say thank you, special mention to the most hardworking gentleman, MR NORM. I rate Ames Brook as ...
