It was my experience that upon checking in there were no shady people out on the grounds, save for a woman walking her dog on the outer boundaries of the property. There was a young man, late teens or early 20s that did my check in and he was very prompt professional. He couldn’t find my reservation at first, but after some further investigating, he found it. The only excessive noise that I heard was a man on a Harley Davidson motorcycle exiting the parking lot and also some excited kids running down to their room. I did not hear any noises from other guests, either talking snoring or the noise from the TV. It was my experience that there were no bedbugs, no roaches, and no rodents. Upon entering the room, I did a scan, and found no evidence of rodent droppings, or the oils left on fixtures from their fur. I sat and watched TV with the lights on, and did not see any roaches coming out from anywhere. I also popped in and out of the bathroom and saw no roaches. I slept on the bed (not in it, that’s Amy own quirk) and would pop up every now and then and scan the area around me to see if there were any advancing bedbugs. (I also sleep with the lights on also my own quirk) When I woke in the morning, there was no blood on the comforter and while taking a shower, I checked myself and also in the mirror, and there were no bedbug bites. The hotel is right next to a few very good eateries that would fall under the sports bar category. There is a Royal Farms market within walking distance also and also a liquor store. No doubt about it at the room needs a deep clean, there was a smear of either peanut butter or work man’s putty on the door, and into the bottom drawer of the dresser, the liner needs to be replaced. However, there were no visible fingerprints uncommonly touched areas in the room. There was no ring around the tub and the toilet bowl was gleaming. The towels and the linens were clean. The mirror was streak free. The TV gets lots of channels and also has a clear picture and great sound. My favorite part of the room was they have a small coffee maker and provide you with plenty of coffee, creamer and sweetener. Give this place a chance! I booked through Priceline and paid approximately $50 per night. If there is any problems that you cannot remedy then you’re only out $50.

By far the worst place I have stayed in my entire life. It was even more heartbreaking to stay here with my husband and 3 small children. The room had a horrible odor from the moment we walked. Seemed to be a room that does not get used often and did not get cleaned. The mini fridge had a nauseating smell. The Microwave was completely filthy. The one time I actually needed to use the blow dryer, it did not work. Aside from the very old furniture placed in the room, there were sharp staples sticking out of the desk drawer. Which created a safety hazard for my toddler and two school-aged children. The bathroom sink barely drained. The shower curtain rod fell twice. To top it off, there were no batteries in the TV remote controller. Housekeeping was able to clean the microwave. After calling the front desk twice, maintenance finally arrived after an hour to replace the blow dryer, plunge the bathroom sink, replace the batteries in the TV remote controller and also add a missing cable in order for the TV to work. I know “you get what you paid for”, but there should be a hospitality standard across all levels. It is not an entitled mindset to expect a hotel room to be clean, without unpleasant odors, to have drains functioning, appliances clean and working properly. We were visiting for my sister-in-law’s college graduation. We barely made it to brunch due to the inconvenience of waiting for things to get fixed and cleaned. I could not brush my children's teeth or clean myself without the threat of the shower falling apart. Please see the attached pictures for verification.

Absolutely Disgusting Experience – Avoid This Hotel I recently stayed at the Red Roof Inn & Suites Newark - University, and it was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The first room we were given (Room 195) had water leaking from the ceiling directly above the bed. The toilet seat was broken on one side, making it unsafe to use. We were moved to another room (Room 159), which was somehow even worse. The bathroom had used soap left open on the counter, toothpaste smeared on the counter and wall, and what looked like someone’s personal belongings still there. There was even a plastic knife on the bedroom floor, and the TV was already on when we entered the room—completely unprofessional and unsanitary. Also there was trash in the trashcan in the bathroom when we came in the room. The room also had a broken electrical outlet, and the entire hotel smelled musty and moldy. To top it all off, there was a Home Depot bucket in the hallway nearly full of water, catching drips from the ceiling.. This place was not just unclean, it felt unsafe. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. It needs serious repairs, a deep cleaning, and better management.

I'll start from the beginning, My wife and I had rented a Non-Smoking King Suite with a spa tub for $298.59. The hallway smelled of Ammonia and Pot, once we got into the room we notice quite a few things, to start the sliding chain lock didn't work at all and looked like it was damaged, The bathroom door looked like someone tried to fix the hole in it with Spackle, there was a hole in the bathroom wall where the door would swing open, and it seemed there was never an attempt to repair that, the couch was stained horribly we did try to flip the cushions...the other side was even worse, there were broken tiles on the steps up to and around the spa tub, the dresser had broken knobs and the desk was sticky for some reason I'm not sure if it's the cleaning spray or materials they use. Once we settled in, my wife and I were eager to use the spa tub we turned the faucet on and...it looked like a sputtering spitting mess it looked like it was supposed to be a waterfall faucet...it took about 30 to 45 minutes to fill the tub fully...when then got in and the faucet wasn't too decisive on the temperature of the water, it would switch between scolding and cold, we turned the jets on and watched all the lights and TV in the room dim heavily or turn off (now this could be normal but no such thing happens at my In laws house when we dog sit) about a minute in to the jets being on the water started turning grey, so we got out, and the tub drained in a matter or minutes. We decided to take showers as the spa tub water grossed us out...the water pressure in the tub seemed like it should have been for the spa tub. We then turned the AC on and noticed a dead roach on the floor and another one crawling up the wall to the window, we didn't think too much of it until we saw a few more crawling around near the mini fridge and the wall outside the spa tub. We went to the front desk to change rooms but all King Spa Rooms were taken, so we asked for even a downgrade we were told there were no rooms opened, and we were civil no yelling just a plea for help as my wife doesn't like bugs especially roaches. After that we left to eat dinner and called the Red Roof Inn Corp number and were told by the lady on the phone to talk to the front desk again as there are some rooms opened. Once we were done our dinner we went to the front desk again the lady seemed annoyed saying she told the lady on the phone that we should talk to her in an hour and advised that they would call the room in an hour she did mention that if she moved us to another room it could be worse, we took this as they know they have roaches, and we find it unprofessional that they didn't even put down traps or even offer us traps to put down in the room, we went back to our room and waited, we left our bags in the car and all the lights on in hope the roaches would stay hidden. We are still waiting for the call from the front desk. We will not be returning to stay at...

Do NOT EVER go to this place! Let me start off by saying my paintball team and I booked rooms here for this weekend for a special local event. Many other teams did the same. Everything was going nicely when my friend went to go sit on her bed when she noticed it was leaning down. The box springs were broke. So we went and got the hotel manager who then tried to say because my friebd is over weight that she must have broken it. Once we made him understand that she hadnt even had a chance to sit on the bed and he saw the bed for hinself, we ended up moving to a new room. Now we had heard some other teams rooms had used condoms and cockroaches in them. As well as another team members rooms toilet flooding out sewage and it had looked like the titanic in their room. Then when we arrived back at our rooms from being at the event and out to dinner we discovered cockroaches in one of our beds. So again we had to deal with management who told us that they would have clean bedding within an hour because they had nothing clean to give us and no one to make the bed. So we waited over 3 hours and went again to management who then decided to dk us around for over another hour and a half! All we wanted was clean bedding and to go to sleep. But no we couldnt do that! So after all was said and done management takes care of their family before their guests, and they kept sending us different people to deal with us because they admitted they had nothing clean to begin with! Now to boot they had us strip the bed ourselves, tried to move us out of our room for a second time, and then when we finally got the clean bedding sheets and pillows only because its snowing outside and well everyone loves to just sleep and be cold, NOT, then they didnt have any clean blankets. So again they tried to move us to another room, so we suggested that they just get a clean blanket from a unattended room, they took another 45 minutes to do that in the mean time we watched the person go get it stand in the hallway telling their spouse about the mess of the situation with our blanket who then once off the phone gave us the blanket and ran a way from us leaving our buggy bedding in our room and made us make our own dn bed! We will never stay here again and we will be speaking to someone about getting our money back! If i could i wouldnt even give this place 1 star. I am truly sorry for the profane language and grammar errors, but this was just enough bs to make my bloodpressure be...
