The Resort at Pelican Hill — Hotel in Newport Beach

This place it truly an embarrassment. I am really not a 1 Star Guy but really? $1800 for two nights. That's cool it's what is is expected for a high end resort. But the service is absolutely horrible. No one here cares at all. Not in the least. Ice cold food and week old danish. This place reeks of of place going out of business. Our room "up graded" to a villa. We asked for a bungalow with an ocean view. All we have is trees and Employee's driving around in carts. This reminds me of the old blockbuster theme. Pay for three days any really get one. This of course is all right with us but at least treat the folks here that spend this kind of money with some respect. Oh and goodness, I almost forgot (Please realize this is really only 36 hours of time, the toilet in the master bath leaked, the bath tub drains would not close all the way with taking them apart and reinstalling the stopper. The carpet was we when we arrived. The hotel maids where truly on the ball though, they informed us at least eight times during out 36 hour stay that they could not clean our room because we had the do not disturb sign on our door. But at 11:59 the day of our departure they left the cleaning supplies directly at our front. Door for my Wife to trip over. Oh goodness, as you can see I could go on and on. That's because the recklessness of this place never stopped. There is so much more but it would take a novel and I swear, I'm not making any of this up nor looking for more to trash this place. It's all so true it cracks me up. On top of all of this they even asked if there was an occasion for our stay three separate times. My wife and I where doing this for our birthdays and anniversary. Not even one word was spoken of this. This truly must be a clown collage. This is the only thing that can explain any of this.

Well I guess two stars was a little much, we will stand at one. My wife and I went down to the pool for a drink. We asked a young lady after sitting for a while if someone could help us. She said "did you tell someone up front that you where here?" My wife said no. And she said "well that's your problem, no one knows that you are here" then she walked away without even a smile. What kind of a place this is? You would figure Management would at lease teach the spoiled little children to at least take there aviator sunglasses off during a conversation with a guest, let alone wipe the smirk off of their faces.

Ahhh! and it keeps going, My wife is a very meek woman with wonderful values and complains about nothing. She was quite upset about all of this and asked if we could drive down to the front desk and complain. We spoke with Rudy jimmy Genaskey Jr. We explained our plight. he seemed very courtious at that time. He said to us that If we came all of the way down there to complain then it must really upset us so he offered to "take care of our stay" Owning a tire and automotive repair facility in my world that means "comp" they had already "taken care" of the week old meal that we ordered. This being the only meal that we purchased there. Well come to find out he took care of it again for us and stuck us with the $1800.00 tab for a place the we did not order. I have callrd him twice being as he gave me his card and never returned my call. Finally I called and spoke with another supervisor who was going to get back with me and never did.

In all honesty I just happen to be the guy that always gets the wrong meal. two left shoes or something brand new that comes it the box broken. So I really am not upset with mistakes. I am upset because my wife is and the fact that no one really seems to give a damn at...

Pelican Resort was wonderful! |Glad we choose this property to celebrate my birthday! The staff were wonderful, very helpful and exemplary treatment of Marriott elites. We truly appreciated the wonderful upgrade, spacious suite and the scrumptious breakfast provided. |We cannot wait to go back! A++ all around!||Gina and the Male housekeeping staff-He ( we forgot his name) promptly delivered the water and blankets we requested. Very courteous man and even offered to fill the fridge for us ! Talk about exemplary service! ||Coliseum pool Mgr and staff- my wife cannot remember their names but want to extend our thanks. She was taking pics/videos by the upstairs cabanas and the manager discreetly and kindly approached her to see if interested in renting a cabana and to extend any assistance needed, afterwards another staff member also approached her and asked again if she needs anything else. Very pro active approach, and made her feel welcomed even when she was not renting one. Thank you!||Spa team- very discreet, always cleaning in the background. Everyone was very courteous, including the check in team and the helpful young lady who informed my wife the driver has arrived for pickup.||Andrew- Shuttle driver went above beyond to ensure my wife was escorted to the pool and spa timely.
