The RV resort was incredibly maintained and the Residents and Guests (like me) were incredibly friendly and gracious. However, I was highly disappointed in the management. We stayed July 10-17, and while we recognized the COVID-19 impacts did not allow for use of the amenities, it was the manner in which the resort mgmt chose to handle things that were the biggest issue and the reason I took the time to write this review.
First, given the fact reservations were made well before any of the Virus issues started, we kindly asked if they were offering any discount due to the fact we could NOT use ANY of the amenities, even though the town of Newport and the Oregon State Campgrounds had opened up many of their facilities at this point. The office mgmt rudely argued that there cannot be any reduction in price during our stay. Another big hitter was when I found out that the laundry room was being used by their 'owners', but guests were denied that privilege. I asked office management about this only to get a rude answer that I was not allowed, only owners, and I could go to one of the laundromats in town. I kindly informed them that if the local laundromat was open, then why would they need to restrict theirs. Again, there was lots of attitude in the response to this question, with ultimate denial to use the laundry. (Not like I was asking to use the pool or hot tubđ).
Having paid for an Ocean View site, we also discovered that the RV park mgmt allowed concrete trucks to empty and clean their equipment right next to our RV site. I was rather surprised when the big concrete mixer backed up to the small green area designated for pets and the walking paths to dump concrete and then hose down all their equipment. This also blocked our ability to park our car next to the RV. I quickly called the office to let them know about this, and while they reacted quickly, again the response was "well, they have to dump and clean up somewhere, so this was the place agreed upon. Agreed upon by whom??? -- not by the RV guest that was paying FULL price for the ocean view spot!! Oh, by the way.... did I mention that the RV Resort had very large area AWAY from ALL the RV spots designated for trailers and other materials to be stored in which the Concrete trucks could have used? (No response as to why this area was not used for those concrete trucks.)
What you also may want to know, that while there is beach access, it's quite a journey to reach the beach. Rugged downhill terrain, with several set of steep steps... So, while the view (if you have a site with a view) is very nice ---- the use of the beach is not very practical.
So...what was I really paying for ?????? If it were not for the actual RV people being so nice, and the staff that greeted you at the front gate and helped get you to your RV site, I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau. ( I still might send this over to them anyway....just not an experience you expect to happen at such a well developed RV Resort)
Bottom Line --- I guess the RV Resort mgmt just doesn't care how traveling guests (non-owners) get treated and that was apparent in their attitude. If it is going to be all about taking care of the owners, then perhaps they should NOT offer sites to Guests -----I know we will...
Read moreThe amenities were decent. The Hot Tub was broken the entire time we were there. Most of the guests were extremely kind to us that were around us. Many even stopped by to chat about different places to travel. The two gentlemen that checked us in were very nice as well .. One night we had a tweeter girl wake us up at 4:30 in the morning by banging on our door and then banging on other coaches and darting between them. We called 911 and let the office know. The office is aware of this girl according to the many people who stopped by throughout the day. Needless to say this was a terrible way to start our day⌠The next day before we were to check - there was a new man (afternoons) in a golf cart that came over to tell us that our kids needed to be watched at all times and that under constant supervision - as OUR KIDS WERE. We were outside with our kids while they played. The obeyed the 5 MPH (unlike many of the adults on their scooters and electric bikes) and we were sitting outside with them the entire time. Our kids moved to the side when people drove through (over the speed limit). However, this man had the audacity to tell us that we had too many kids (a bunch of other kids from somewhere else came over to the area). When I corrected him and told him multiple times they were not our children - he said âthe older folk canât see well and I donât want your kids to get hurt and I donât want to have to get the board involved or one of them to call.â First of all - those kids once again were not ours ( and I stated AGAIN that to him - when he asked who their parents were (the boys and girl were unable to tell him) they were all over the park unsupervised and second how rude to say you are going to involve the board. The next day he came back and talked to my husband - this time approaching him by reading the rules without even saying hello or introducing himself. When my husband told him âmy kids are all inside - I donât know whose children those are AND my wife already talked to you about this yesterday go find their parentsâ â he didnât even apologize. NOT family friendly, NOT family oriented, NOT kind. If you are going to allow people to rent spaces for periods of time and have issues with children - then DONâT allow children. Also take a look at your customer service skills - this could have been handled better. We donât know where the boy and girl came from - should have figured that out first if they were...
Read moreI came here three times as a visitor last month and was also curious to see how the resort compares to Pacific Surf Motorcoach Estate, which is located one mile north of Pacific Shores. Here are my top 3 pros and biggest con when comparing the two:
Pacific Shores PROS:
Pacific Surf PROS:
As far as similarities, both are gated and I'd rate them the same for location because they're only a mile apart.
As far as differences, Pacific Shores has all paved roads and Pacific Surf has asphalt at the gate, then gravel, with pavers on the 6 site pads. Pacific Shores accepts Class A and Class C RVs and Pacific Surf only accepts Class A.
Hope this review helps people who are searching for an RV spot on the...
