NW 55th Street Viewpoint — Attraction in Newport

If you're looking for sandy beach access, or you're looking to get up-close-and-personal with the Yaquina Head and the lighthouse this is definitely not your spot. It's basically a parking area in front of some homes on the headland overlooking the beach below and Yaquina Head just slightly to the south. That said, the views from here out towards the ocean in Yaquina Head are absolutely beautiful, and it's a fun spot to look out over the lighthouse in the ocean at night. You can see the lighthouse flashing it's pattern nicely from here. You're not going to do much hiking and it's not going to be much more than just looking out over the viewpoint, but it's a nice view. Please remember to keep the area clean, pick up after yourself and please pick up after your dog. I've cleaned up after multiple people's dogs at the spot, which is something I really shouldn't have to be doing. So please remember to be respectful and clean up after yourself or your dog. If you're looking for the typical Oregon coast experience on this and this definitely isn't your spot. That said, it's a wonderful place to just come and quietly enjoy the views of the lighthouse...
