Sales people are so shady! I went in with little to no knowledge of mattresses and foolishly expected the salesman (Mark) to help me pick out a good one. He showed me a few recommendations and I chose one I thought was comfortable.

He told me that delivery is $119.99 so I said OK. What he didn't tell me is that delivery is FREE unless you need someone to come in and set it up for you which I didn't need and was never asked if I needed that.

So I got home and looked up the mattress he sold me and it has terrible reviews, most are 1 star and say it's the worst bed they've ever slept on. Also the reviews mention a $200 lower base price for the mattress, which I was told I was getting a sale price!

I called the next day and tried to cancelled my order. The salesman gave me a really hard time about cancelling it and kept trying to argue with me and was very rude. He even blamed me for choosing the mattress that he recommended!

Then he refused to give me any kind of confirmation of the cancellation, told me to "trust him" which I found laughable. I told him to email me the confirmation but got no such email. So I went to the website and requested a cancellation myself. I got an automated email right away confirming my request.

I feel like the salesman was just trying to unload a poorly selling mattress and he was dishonest about the delivery price. Don't trust this store unless you want to get taken advantage of and then blamed and argued with for it. I wish I could give these...

My fiance and I went into Mattress Firm because we needed a new mattress and I didn’t expect to walk out with anything I liked the same day. It’s very hard for me to make decisions when I have alot of options in front of me.

Our associate, Mark Pellegrino was absolutely wonderful!!! He guided us through everything so smoothly. He answered the million and one questions I had. Had us lay on different beds in our price range. He told us to just lay down and see how the mattress felt in different sleeping positions. He was very informative and is definitely an expert on mattresses, very knowledgeable and just very easy to talk too. He knew exactly the mattress that my fiance and I need so we can sleep comfortably at night. We picked out our new mattress in I would say about an hour when I was expecting it to take 2 hours or so.

You wouldn’t think buying a mattress is stressful but it definitely is knowing you have to sleep on it for the next 10+ years. Mark is such a gem and it was such a pleasure talking to him! Bonus points for him chatting with us about his doggos. 🐕 🐶 I would recommend the North Brunswick location of Mattress Firm to anyone. Avoid this place like the plague. They ordered us a queen frame with a king mattress and box spring, which meant that the whole thing had to be delivered another day. We were going out of town a few days later, which made this extra inconvenient. We had already taken apart our old bed, which we had to put back together again, and then take apart again once the new bed arrived. The people at the store were absolutely impossible to talk to about this and were terrible about returning our calls to fix this problem.

But worst of all, they promised us $100 for the inconvenience, saying it would take 15-20 days to show up on our credit card. Once we noticed the money never showed up in our account, we called them and they claimed that they never agreed to this and tried to make me feel like I was ripping them off or that I was crazy. I guess I should have gotten it in writing.

EDIT: customer service has since contacted me and refunded me the $100 (plus tax) that Sleepy's owed us. While the national chain seems competent, I'm still really disappointed in Sleepy's North Brunswick. Sleepy's has refunded us the money we were owed and has done the bare minimum required of them, but I don't think they deserve more...
