Little Ahwahnee Inn Yosemite — Hotel in Oakhurst

I'm lost for words as where to begin with this, but our 3 days here was the best 3 days of our 14 day USA trip for our honeymoon (and we stayed in pretty nice places throughout!!!). Yosemite is a destination that you really need to get right, in terms on accommodation choice. And only once you've visited, will you really know why. But most (almost all) the accommodation choices are big / biggish hotels with little character. In my opinion, if you you're going to Yosemite, your stay should fit right in with your surroundings, the environment and the character of the area, which Little Ahwahnee does, and gets spot on.

It's located in Fish Camp, only 10 mins to the park gate and about 40 mins to the valley floor. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Trees all around and all you can hear is nature and the wind. It's got 2 bedrooms only. Perfect! Grant and Beth will make your stay so personal that you don't want to leave. They care about every little detail and make sure you're very well looked after.

The main building is beautiful. Picture it like the entrance to a lovely lodge. High ceilings, lovely decor and it oozes quality with the wood structure. Breakfast is included and you have it in the main part of the house where there is a grand kitchen area and the most comfy and cozy sitting room for relaxing. You will remember these breakfasts forever!

Beth and Grant live over the road so you have the house to yourself, apart from breakfast time when they cook and wait upon you. It's a great time of the day at Little Awahnee.

We stayed in the High Sierra Suite (didn't see the other room) and it was incredible. Such a cozy feel, masses of space, huge balcony with chairs and a table to relax and have your morning coffee, massive bed (most comfortable I've slept in) 2 reclining chairs with foot stools, 2 sofa like features, a huge TV (we didn't need it, we just loved being on the balcony during our in-time), wifi, delightful bathroom and all the amenities to go with it like bath robe etc.

We had meals, drinks and visited other places and can safely say you'll struggle to find somewhere this good for this price in Yosemite. Grant and Beth work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure you're well looked after and they have got everything spot on. They even slip a weather forecast for the day under your door when they deliver your morning tea...

This was the most perfect place for a romantic getaway. The proprietors seems to love what they are doing and know so much about the area and Yosemite. We started the morning with delievered fresh coffee and one of the most delicious breakfasts. They present their food with art, love and creativity.

The location is something out of a movie. Our room was so comfortable and the furniture very unique. I loved the soaking tub, it made leaving the 35 ft fireplace a little easier.

Then there is Yosemite. Their location to the entrance is very close and with so much the area offers we had no issues keeping busy and taking in all the beauty of the park. We finished our days off with romantic dinners at a couple of the nearby restaurants.

What a place! Beautiful house, serene and romantic location, and warm and knowledgeable innkeepers. The hardest part of staying here is trying to decide between sitting next to the amazing fireplace while enjoying a good book and coffee versus heading out to explore the awesome natural wonder that is Yosemite. It's minutes away from several famous restaurants and just down the road from some of the most picturesque hikes you'll ever experience. Whether a Yosemite first timer looking for advice on how to spend your time or a seasoned veteran yearning to reminisce about your favorite moments in the park, Little Ahwahnee Inn is definitely the place to make your Yosemite home...
