Cannot say enough bad things about our stay at these Marina Suites. The thing is, we stayed here a a year ago and it was totally acceptable. I do believe that the following is an explanation for all the bad things with our sweet. We were going there to spend my birthday week and Christmas on the water! It was to be a special time for my wife and I, and we wanted a sweet because we needed an oven to do a lot of baking to take with us to my sister-in-law's for Christmas Eve. My wife confirmed with the front desk when we were on our way to check in, that all the sweets had ovens in them. Our sweet from last year did and they advertise full kitchens. Well, the lady of the desk says it's a good thing we asked because the sweet we're going to stay in doesn't have a working oven. She said she would switch us to another Suite with an oven in it. We were given room number 214 and when we were there for most of the first day it became obvious that they cannot rent this Suite out for anyone, because the conditions that were bad or unacceptably bad. I do not believe they meant that out to anyone, and since they were considered to be booked solid, we were given that room based on the oven request, and I believe in my heart that they hoped it would suffice since it did have two bathrooms. Well, the list is just so long of what was wrong with this place. And to make things worse, the oven ended being off by 65 degrees. After burning two batches of cookies, we had to go out to a store to get an oven thermometer to check the oven settings. That is how we found out it was off by 65°! Yes, there were two bathrooms, but my wife likes to take baths and only one of them had a tub, which was in such bad condition that the actual paint and finish was peeling off in thick large chunks. The bathroom fan didn't work. There was no cold water in the sink, only hot. The sinks, whenever you use them, the moment Water started running the sewage odor coming out of all of the drains was unimaginably horrible. We tried to turn on the water as little as possible, because it would take five minutes to clear the odor out of the sweet! On the third day there, I was sitting in the living room in my Underpants watching TV, when all of a sudden I would door opened a woman peeked her head in and says housekeeping, wherein I turn my head to look at her in shock while she quickly pulled her head back and close the door. Well, I'm not complaining so much about not knocking, I'm complaining because we had a sign on the door knob saying do not disturb. So, she ignores the sign to begin with, and then just comes in without knocking. I'm not going to waste any more time listing all the little things that would want, and they were numerous. The two main things were the tub that was cracked and chunks of it peeling off along with the unimaginable odor coming out of the drains are the two reasons that I know for a fact they do not rent this sweet out, because nobody prior to us would have ever stayed there and never reported it. When we reported it to the person at the front desk our second day there, we all we got was wow how terrible G I'm sorry I don't know what we can do. I have taken this recent two weeks off from contacting the sweets so that my wife and I might calm down from our completely aggravated attitude. I fully intend on contacting B management for at least a minimum of half our money back. I do believe we deserve 100% refund, but since we ended up staying there despite the conditions, I think we should each take a 50% hit, both us and the...
Read moreThis hotel is GORGEOUS. I do not understand the negative reviews I read on here. I was very nervous about our trip - but my breath was completely taken away by our very first step into our suite. We stayed in the 2 bedroom deluxe suite - 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen with dining table, spacious living room with TV and fireplace, and gorgeous balcony with table and four chairs. We sat on our balcony often and in the dawn/dusk periods, we could often watch dolphins and seals frolic in the harbor.
There is NO AIR CONDITIONING, so keep that in mind. All the windows open well, there is a gorgeous sea breeze, and there were three very nice, large fans provided that was plenty to keep us comfortable. Evenings are quite cool - we were there June 18-23rd.
HOWEVER - people can be jerks. Because most everyone has all their windows open, you do have to be considerate of your neighbors. People below us had a boom box speaker thing out on their patio, blasting music really loud. I tried to shout down to ask them to turn it down, but it was so loud, they could not hear me and I had to call the desk to have staff come speak with them. These people also smoked marijuana out on their patio - I'm a nurse and know it when I smell it. The resort is supposed to be non-smoking, but I don't know how they can 'police' what is being done outside.
For healthy adults, the swimming beach is a 20 minute walk away. You can drive there, too, of course, and there is free parking on a large lot near "Joe's Crab Shack" - but traffic is always crazy and there is not always a spot in the free lot, and parking in the pay lot is expensive. We walked. If you have small children or fitness problems, you will want to plan to drive.
You do have to pay to park - $15/day - this is typical of any busy resort or large city type hotel I've stayed at. The spots are not huge - I drive a Toyota Highlander and had no problems parking or getting in and out. People with huge monster trucks had issues.
This is not a typical hotel - if we called to ask for something, we got it right away. The latch on our patio door was wonky and it was fixed in ten minutes. We had plenty of towels, so we did not need to ask for more while we were there. The pool and hot tub are salt water and very nice. The whole place was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable. Our son is a Marine and will be done with his service next summer. We will...
Read moreI am definitely NOT a satisfied customer. My friend and I both booked the exact same time and same price. Her room was significantly better than mine with a balcony and updated. Mine was scary and no air flow with just one small window. These hotel rooms don’t have ac and I learned I will always ask that first. We paid extra to upgrade (which disappointed me because I felt they should waive the fee considering the situation) and although the room was much nicer, the smell and heat made it unbearable for me to sleep. Not to mention, 20 minutes after coming to the room, the people below us complained about noise from us twice because the fan kept falling. Clearly, the walls are too thin here and with 2 little kids, made it very hard. Luckily, my kids slept after we cooled the room as much as possible (the new one had a window and a door to create air flow). The workers were nice, although I tried very hard to get the upgrade considering the first room was unreasonable to even attempt to stay in, they would not budge and they charged me the extra $50. When I asked saying “no one will be in the room anyway.” Her response had to do with “housekeeping would need to clean a bigger space.” As a customer, this showed me that they would rather save a few bucks each day than make money in the long run. We travel a lot and had they accommodated us, I would have considered coming here during a season other than summer and given it a better review than this one. I think it’s important that if 2 families who are friends book together, their rooms should be similar. Nobody should have a room here in the summer that doesn’t have a balcony which provides a door and a window. The people in the rooms that are inside and no balconies are probably having a much worse night than myself right now. They should consider using the ac, each room has one but they don’t work, and that appears like someone high up is just being cheap and greedy. I feel bad writing this review but I needed to vent because this has definitely been a rough start to our vacation. Luckily, it’s only 1 night for us. If we were staying here longer. I would definitely be crying, and we’d...
