We hosted our quaint wedding at this venue. Beautiful venue with half a star of service.
-The owner failed to provide an executed copy of our contract. -Difficult & inconsistent to communicate with, (while being on vacation which isn't a problem, but provided unclear expectations, or prior to booking didn't reply back in a timely fashion). -We had, unknowingly, limited access on to areas of the inn, such as the kitchen, which resulted in our caterers having to work creatively to keep food warm and on time, asking other employees to stay late, and us having to wash dishes in the bathroom sink. We made due, but during our tour we talked about full access and were told that's "not a problem". -Learned, day of, the kitchen is a separate agreement. Which we can understand due to liability of kitchen features, but the owner knew caterers were scheduled, and could've informed us ahead of time. We received an additional several thousand dollar charge to our credit card with no explanation, and no heads up or details as to what it was for. -We made every effort to ensure the place was spic and span after we left, no garbage, no mess, etc. We communicated directly with the cleaning staff the next morning on a walk through with them, and pointed out 2 areas we had issues with; a bedroom door knob fell off one of our guest's rooms(no, there was no funny business around "using it too hard") and a food box left a sweat stain on a table, where we offered to fix or replace, but we never heard back about it.
We tipped the cleaning staff for making themselves available on the weekend for our event, saved them wedding favors and ensured they rec'd homemade cookies like the rest of our guests.
The owners have done a great job making a beautiful space, but could be described as lackadaisical at the...
Read moreI’m not going to rehash what everyone else has already mentioned about the enormous disappointment in service that this place has provided our party, because trust me I was furious! But I will give you suggestions for improving your inn for future guests.
First, start by slip proofing your bathtubs. I’m surprised no one slipped during our very short 15 hour stay. Could be very expensive for your business!
Second, hire someone with better communication and people skills to work with your guests. It shouldn’t have gotten to the point that it did. Management should’ve worked to deescalate the situation, not escalate it. This should have been Management 101.
I saw a reply that said our party caused $5k in damages. The only damages I heard about was a stained couch. So you’re gonna toss the entire couch and buy a brand new one? I highly doubt that but please post a receipt when you buy the new couch in the next few days. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t cost $5k to upholster or clean it. Y’all act like stains can’t be removed and accidents don’t happen. Also we caused so much damage that you guys were able to rent out the place again the same night? Kind of sounds like an oversight on your part with double booking.
And then the lack of courtesy to just give people their stuff back on the same day, knowing full well we were having a wedding that day. Put the stuff in a box outside the property. It doesn’t cost you anything extra to be kind. You had a rough morning acting out? So did everyone else who had to figure out lodging for the night. You work in the hospitality industry, do better!
I hope future guests will never have to experience what our family and friends went through, especially on their...
Read moreStayed just one night over Labor Day weekend 2015. Had never been to the area and chain hotels were booked up and also father from the wedding venue than we wanted. Glad they were! We found The Inn at Pine Terrace, only a 7 min drive to the wedding, and booked online. Never got a confirmation email until the day before our stay. Our time there was short but great. John, the innkeeper, was super nice and informative when I asked about the home and town history -- he gave me a town history book to scroll through, trusting me to bring it back when I was done.
One note of warning, we stayed in room 14, if you are taller (I'm 6'2") and want to shower, you will have to bend your head to the side because of the way the shower is situated. But you have to expect little quirks like that at a B&B and appreciate the charm and character of a beautifully restored home. The room was clean and we slept great. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and unique and John spent some time chatting with my wife and I -- he and his wife are both very pleasant people! We'd go back if we ever visit...
