Wow! This place was great! We called to book this over the phone because the reviews were so high. The person on the phone was super nice and the price was very good. We've stayed at a lot of motels over the years and this one was leaps-and-bounds better than any we've ever seen, and much nicer than plenty of "regular" hotels we've stayed in. The room we were in was recently renovated and had a pleasing modern, minimalist style with wood-look planks. It was pretty! Also, there was no carpet, so the floors automatically felt cleaner to me. The refrigerator/freezer unit was larger than most hotel ones, which was helpful since we were on a long road trip and were emptying our cooler into fridge/freezer each night in each hotel we stayed in; there was a microwave and coffee station; the stand up shower felt more spacious than a tub; the toilet was the larger oval-shaped-bowl one; the bed and pillows were very comfortable; and the A/C unit worked really well. The place was quiet and there was a coin washer and dryer (and a vending machine of soap and other laundry stuff) available, which I thought was great.
The only complaints I have are these two following, but I imagine they don't reflect the motel as a whole and aren't enough to lower my rating:
-There were no deadbolts or chains on the door, nor peepholes, which lead to a small loss of security in my mind. My door opened right out onto the parking lot (downstairs room) and I really wish I could have locked a deadbolt or chain to feel more secure. In fact, not having this allowed one of the people working at the hotel (maybe the owner or a family member?) to walk in on us in our room. He thought that we had left (because there's no check out procedure: you just drop your key in the box and leave) and so came to our room to clean it. Fortunately I was standing at the door and was able to close it before he saw my undressed wife in the room. He apologized and was really nice and no harm was done, but I do wish it couldn't have happened. There was no deadbolt on the door to the adjoining room either, and that made me mildly worried, but it wasn't a huge deal.
-Our check in process was quite frustrating. We arrived an hour before the person we booked the room with said was the last time we could check in but we found the office door locked. That's not really that big of a deal (I don't expect someone to stay in the office waiting for us) and there was an open sign and a note on the door that said to call the number of the motel or to use the intercom. I called the number and used the intercom over 10 times and never received an answer. I tried knocking and looked around to see if I could find anyone. After 10 minutes of waiting, beginning to believe that we were going to have to find another hotel, my wife started rummaging through things and found the key to our room in their mailbox with our receipt. I didn't see a note indicating that keys would be in the box, I wasn't told that over the phone, and the open sign and the note saying to call did not indicate that no one was around for us to check in with. It was really frustrating and I got very upset when I thought I would need to find another hotel in a strange place. I wish things had been clearer from the start, but ultimately it was likely a one-off experience and there's no reason to fuss too much about it.
All in all, I highly recommend this place if you are in the...
Read moreEspecially for the value, the atmosphere and accomodations are unmatched by any motel I've ever patronized. Situated on the main drag of quaint and scenic Oconto Falls, WI, the Coachlight Inn is the perfect spot to walk anywhere in town. Great food, local-owned shops, beaches and bars are a stone's throw away. What truly stands out about the Coachlight Inn is the service. Pete is the friendliest and most attentive concierge I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with, HANDS DOWN. His recommendations for the local highlights rang true, his attentive service to our every request was timely and fulfilled with a smile, and his son sold me the best asparagus I might ever have eaten. Between the comfort and perfect nick of the accomodations, our host treating us as family, and the atmosphere of the coziest town in the Midwest, we are looking for any excuse...
Read moreIt's a beautiful location newly remodeled, rooms are warm and comfortable. The owner is so sweet and nice always willing to help out where he can. I work in the area but live in the Green Bay area so sometimes the weather is too bad for me to go home so I am able to stay here It is very beautiful place. I'm thinking the upcoming draft it'd be a lot cheaper than being in Green Bay it's not that far away so it would be a great location if you want to find a nice clean friendly family place to stay during the draft Hope you enjoyed as...
