Let me explain that I drove in to OKC for a concert. I just needed a simple place to spend the night before driving back home.
First off, the sign needs to be changed out front to name of the operation now, not what it used to be. My GPS was correct but I doubted it because it didn't say OK Hotel. And by all definitions, this is NOT what I would consider a hotel. This is a typical motel...which I don't mind staying at. The exterior of the building was shoddy and needed a lot of attention.
Secondly, there were very sketchy people hanging around outside every time I went outside, during the day and at night. As a solo traveler, it didn't make me feel safe. You have to use a card to open the door to get access inside. When I got back from the concert, which was close by, that door was not locked. Anyone could open the door and be inside. Again, with sketchy characters hanging around.
Thirdly, as soon as you walk inside, you're hit with the smell of cigarettes, at the very least, and it did not get better walking to my room. The hallways smelled of cigarettes, mold and god only knows what else. They, too, we're in need of attention.
Next, the room was okay. A bed, TV, dresser, desk, frig, microwave, an iron and a place to hang your house clothes. No carpet, which was fine. Heat worked. The description said it had a coffee maker in the room but it didn't. I look for places that have that amenity. Pillows were not the same...one was super squishy and the other was a little more firm. Bed looked fine.
I did see a bug crawl across the floor. I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't tell you what it was and also for same reason, I couldn't kill it.
Continuing on, I didn't take a shower in the morning, but knelt down to just wet my hair under the water. Before I turned the water on, I noticed hair in the tub (not mine). The towel they left for you to put on the floor to step on when you get out of the shower was filthy! Looked like someone cleaned with it then put it there. Various kinds of stains. I took it with me to show the desk when I checked out, but she didn't seem to concerned.
The only staff I saw that I could at least recognize as employees, we're the 2 front desk people. I checked in Friday evening and when I got back to my "hotel" room after the show, I realized I wasn't given a password for the wifi. There was no phone in the room, so I walked around the building, outside, to get it. In hindsight, I could have just used my cell to call amd get it. Everywhere else I've ever stayed at gives you the password with your key card. When I went to the lobby to check out, there was a gentleman checking in. I wanted to tell him to run away, but I didn't. I gave her my card keys and showed her the towel and told her about the bug. Again, didn't seem too concerned. Never saw a room cleaner around, not even a cart they use.
I would highly recommend a traveler to look elsewhere. This place isn't work the $50 I paid through Expedia. And this is going to go to their reviews as well. Pay a little more for somewhere else. Solo travelers definitely, especially if you are a female. I travel often and this was, by far, the worst place that I have...
Read moreI rarely ever write reviews, but this place was so unbelievably awful that I feel like it’s my civic duty to warn others. The OK Hotel in Oklahoma City is, hands down, the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced — and I’ve stayed in roadside motels for $30 a night that were cleaner and safer.
Bathrooms: The bathrooms were not just “out of order,” they were a complete disgrace. Nothing worked properly. Toilets didn’t flush right, sinks barely ran, and the smell was unbearable. It felt like a public restroom that had been shut down since 2020.
The Pool (or should I say swamp): Their website proudly claimed the pool was “open and ready.” That’s a lie. When we arrived, we were greeted with a stagnant, green and black cesspool that looked like it hadn’t been touched since Trump's first term. Bugs floated on the surface, and it smelled like something had died in it. No one in their right mind would swim in that.
The Hallways: Walking to our room was an assault on the senses. The odor was a vile combination of drugs, mold, and body odor — like a dirty locker room that’s never once been cleaned. Honestly, it made me question if it was even safe to breathe.
The Room: This was the deal-breaker. The room was crawling with bugs. Not just one or two, everywhere! The bed was so old and broken down it could probably qualify for Social Security. The mattress felt like it hadn’t been replaced since 1990; lumpy, stained, and clearly never properly cleaned. I didn’t even want to put my luggage on the floor.
Cleanliness & Safety: Nonexistent. The entire property reeked of neglect. There was no sign of proper housekeeping, sanitation, or even basic care. It honestly felt dangerous to stay there, not just disgusting, but unsafe. As we left, a man approached me - he noticed that we were leaving so quickly after arriving. He told me that he grew up in this area and that I needed to get myself and my daughters away from there as quickly as possible. It was not a safe place to be...
Overall Experience: This isn’t a hotel — it’s a health hazard. I’m shocked this place is still open. It needs to be inspected and shut down by the health department immediately. No one should have to pay to sleep in filth and fear.
Bottom Line: Do not — I repeat, DO NOT — waste your money here. Sleep in your car, on a park bench, or anywhere else before subjecting yourself (or your family) to this nightmare. If the owners don’t care enough to maintain basic cleanliness, they don’t deserve to run a hotel.
This was less a stay and more a warning: Stay...
Read moreThings just got bad from worse. The hotel doesn’t look anything like the photos. When I parked to check in, I was immediately made uncomfortable by a man who made crude remarks and asked me to join him in his room. There are drug deals literally happening in the parking lot as if no one is around.
I didn’t feel safe and I asked the night manager to refund my stay, he said he would but he can’t from his end and to come back in the morning to speak with the manager. He said he could offer me a “safe” room… (shouldn’t all of the rooms be safe?!) He told me that if I checked in on the first night then I definitely wouldn’t get a refund. So I said never mind, I’ll wait til morning.
This morning the manager is extremely rude. Literally put a hand to my face to silence me. Let me know that I couldn’t get a refund. I said fine, if I can’t get a refund, can I at least get the room key. Well now I’m not allowed to check in because it’s “past the check in time”. Total scam and they’re incredibly rude. Wish I had read the other reviews...
