This hotel is on campus, repurposing two building and using part of a newer building. I stayed in Room 201 in what used to be known as Holmes Hall. It was a large corner room with two queen beds and three large, tall windows. Immaculately clean, very comfortable. The staff was friendly and engaging. There is a first floor library if you need to spread out and get some work done, but the University Library is just outside the door if you really need to work. The hotel has a dedicated parking lot, which means you're parking right outside the hotel and right in the middle of the campus - which is priceless. Three nits to pick. There is no coffee anywhere until 7:00 AM. If you're an early riser you're out of luck. The hotel follows the current fashion of having in-room coffee makers the utilize the little paper pillow of coffee that fits into a shelf in the coffee maker. The hot water goes into the coffee and also around the little patch of coffee guaranteeing a weak and watery brew. Yuck. A Keurig sort of coffee maker or the like would be welcome - at Reception if not in the room. The heating and ventilating system shuts off if there is no movement in the room - when you are sleeping, for example. If you get up every now and then and it turns on immediately. The bedside alarm went off in the early AM and I could see no way to shut it off - the only button offered "Doze-Dimmer." I crawled under the cabinet and pulled the plug. I would stay at this place again and...
Read moreI recently stayed at Ursa hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite the hotel being relatively empty, I was assigned a room that had multiple issues.
Upon entering the room, I was immediately hit with a strong smell, similar to wet cement, which made the environment quite uncomfortable. Additionally, the window shades were not functioning, and I later learned that the receptionist was aware of this problem but still chose to place me in this room. As a result, I was unable to adjust the window shades, which added to the inconvenience.
The issues didn’t stop there. The showerhead was faulty, constantly falling off, making it nearly impossible to take a proper shower. To add to the frustration, the entrance door to my room was difficult to operate; I had to use considerable force just to open it.
The breakfast experience at Ursa Café was equally disappointing. The coffee didn’t even smell like coffee and was so watered down that it tasted more like water. The defrosted bagels and muffins looked unappetizing and unfit for consumption. To top it off, I was charged $6 for a small bottle of water, which seemed excessively overpriced.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Ursa was marred by numerous issues that made the experience unpleasant. I cannot recommend this hotel based on the overpriced and dysfunctional accommodations I encountered.
I hope this feedback helps in improving the quality of service for...
Read moreSuch a great find!! ||While planning a visit to Maine with my mom and daughter I found Hotel Ursa and I’m so happy I did! We have a hard time finding hotels where we are all comfortable and can enjoy the room - we loved being at Hotel Ursa! ||The staff was so helpful - both in person and when I had to call to adjust our dates and with some questions. ||The rooms are so fresh and so clean (clean🎶). Even the hallways smell great. The bathrooms were bright & spotless (including the usually gross sink drain hole!). The beds were very comfortable. We had plans to be out and about all day, but we looked forward to getting back and enjoying our room!||We were there during summer break so I’m not sure how it would be during the school year, but it was nice and quiet and easy to get around campus and town. ||Con:|The sheets were a little scratchy, but we are sensitive to that so had car blankets to bring in. ||There is apparently an issue with keys working for awhile and then having to be reset. This happened with ours and when we were checking in there were 2 other groups who had come down to have theirs reset. It isn’t a big deal, but we were in Polaris (not the building that is staffed) & it was raining when we got back (& we needed the bathroom after being on the road!), so just an inconvenience. ||Overall what a fantastic find! We will be back when we...
