Versant Power Astronomy Center & Jordan Planetarium — Attraction in Orono

Saw the Beautifica 360 show here. It was a pretty bad experience. This is not a good venue for a show like this. We got there early and the vwry small auditorium was already pretty full so we had to sit in the front row. Tried to keep an open mind, after all, why would they sell tickets for seats that would be uncomfortable for guests to view from? The show started about 20 minutes later and much to my dismay, my worries were valid. The front seats are AWFUL, to even enjoy the show you have to basically break your neck. Why do these seats, that are made to look at the ceiling, not recline?!? The sound quality was underwhelming, to say the least, and the picture quality looked like one of those big screen tvs from the 90's. The show was pretty short, which ended up being a blessing due to the discomfort. Our necks hurt for days afterwards. If there was a zero stars option, that's what i would have rated...

I just took my daughter, who has special needs, to the younger audience program and she absolutely loved it. It's a smaller venue, which was prefect for her because there was very little chance of over-stimulation. She doesn't laugh much outside of watching her favorite movies, but the English dubbed French Canadian short film that was played had her giggling and then the interactive session following it had her cracking right. The answers the children were shouting out to the student planetarian were straight out of "Kids Say The Darndest Things. " That the absolute was best part in my opinion. Definitely will be coming back again soon to see the Beautifica 360 and Prince's Purple Rain Music presentations. Highly recommend for parents of children on the spectrum most of all....

I just drove 2 hours to go see the Rihanna show in the planetarium and I wasn't even late. If anything I was a few minutes early. Nobody told us that it was going to be a full house nobody told us to show up earlier. There was so many people in there that they couldn't even get us 2 seats and then I go and ask for a refund and they say they can't give refunds and that their boss won't pick up the phone because it's Sunday. Worst experience ever!
